Chapter 19 - Her fear [1]

The loud music played at the background while the crowd mingled with each other. Lights of various colours flashed across the room, while cheerful sounds escaped from people. The smell of the alcohol floated in the air.

Seated in front of the bar was a male in his mid twenties. Holding onto the glass filled with alcoholic drink, he raised it up and brought it closer to his mouth, taking a sip out of it. Ryu Seyoon then placed the glass on the counter and ran his hand through his already dishevelled hair.

The top buttons of his shirt was undone, revealing his collarbones, and his lips were tinted slightly red. His appearance alone like that was able to attract many eyes, and taking in the friendly aura around him, he occasionally had many people approaching him.

Beside him was a male who looked around his age. His brown hair was swept back while he had glasses on. Although it could not be compared to Seyoon, he was quite an attractive sight.

"You have gone crazy, Ryu Seyoon," the man expressed.

"You would have done the same if you're in my place. I assure you, Joohyun," Seyoon spoke out, "Chaerin-ssi is really charismatic. She tries to act all cool, but she is so adorable. It's a pity how she doesn't notice it."

"Only you would prefer something like that," Byun Joohyun pointed out, "Understanding what you have in mind, wouldn't she feel deceived once she gets to know the truth?"

Shrugging his shoulders, Seyoon voiced out, "When that happens, I hope that she will be understanding and forgiving."

Joohyun scoffed and said, "You're hopeless, but since this is first time you are putting this much effort into something, I wish you all the luck."

A young woman was crouched down on the rooftop. Droplets of rain fell on her, turning her damp, and the sound of the drizzle reached into her hair. She stared down at the ground and watched as one by one drop of rain hit the already wet rooftop.

Jung Chaerin's hair fell on her face messily, and it would be hard for one to think of her as that proud woman right now. In this moment, she was completely vulnerable and broken. The despondency that showed on her face was able to easily tug into one's heartstrings.

Along with the rain, the sound of the footsteps were heard then. The water falling on top of her head was blocked by the umbrella. Without turning back, Chaerin understood who it was.

"That's enough. You should be getting back now, CEO Jung," Kang Minseok stated while he stared at the woman with a soft look in his eyes. Gone was that usual smile from his face, and it was replaced with a worried frown.

Weakly, Jung Chaerin stared at the wet ground, and extending her hand towards it, she drew circles with her index finger on it.

Seeing how Chaerin was not responding, he added, "You have suffered enough, CEO Jung. Let's head back now. You have an important meeting tomorrow morning. Being late would be terrible."
