With my goal in mind I knew that I needed to focus the rest of my attention on working towards mastering my first spell. However, I knew that I could only work on the Grimoire so much each day. This left me in quite a pickle, as I could only read the book for a couple hours a day.
After setting aside the idea of reading up on more skills as I already had too much going on, I decided that my best course of action would be to practicing my meditation and speak abilities.
Speaking of my sneak ability, I once again needed to use the bathroom and used the ability to its fullest extent as I made my way to my improvised bathroom. I encountered several goblins on my path, and even a guard in front of the room.
The guard seemed rather dense, and did not notice as I slipped past him and once again relieved my bladder of the burden it had been carrying.
With the deed done, I made my way back to the library. None of the goblins any the wiser to my bathroom break.
When I had returned, I found that Old Pointy hat had once again disappeared, but that he had left another book on my stack of books in the corner I had claimed as my own. The book was not a skill book, rather it was a monster encyclopedia. It listed several types of monsters that existed in this world, and a list of information about each of them.
The book taught me that a creature's species is not stagnant. That when a creature reaches their maximum level they would evolve into a different creature. There was a normal progression to this evolution, but there were always oddities and variants. As a goblin it seemed that I would evolve into a hobgoblin when I reached maximum level, as long as nothing weird happened that is.
The book stated several things about goblins that I already knew, as well as a few that I did not.
[Goblins]
Goblins are one of the most savage of the intelligent creatures on Kaos. The word intelligent is used here loosely. They do have a sense of intelligence in the fact that they have their own language and a primitive society, but the extent of their intelligence ends there. There are of course exceptions to this, but when an intelligent goblin is born it is normally bullied by others until it eventually dies.
Wizard class creatures can appear in the goblin society, but they are even more rare than intelligent goblins, as a wizard needs intelligence above all else.
Most goblins do not have a class, not that they are not capable, rather they do not live long enough to actually learn one. Those that do manage to get a class are usually warriors.
Goblins have a high fertility rate, with females able to produce children only a week after they are born. Goblins have a gestational period of 2 weeks before they are born, and are usually born in groups of three. Because of this Goblins are born with an insatiable sexual appetite that does not diminish even as they evolve. This appetite has been studied and been deemed as a hidden talent of the goblins. [Insatiable].
Perhaps the scariest part of goblins is their ability to adapt to any environment, as well as their ability to survive on whatever they can find to feed their bellies. This mixed with their high fertility rate has made them a menace to the world of Kaos, marking them as an enemy to humanity.
Lastly goblins have a unique stat progression. They gain 5 stat points per level, 3 of which are distributed based on their class (if they have one) and the remaining 2 are based on their usage of stats. This is unlike other intelligent races who receive a choice of stat progression. Or like beasts who progress simply based off their usage. Those goblins who do not have a class progress just like beasts.
