Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Excited... For Nothing

Arnos leaped over the wall, or at least tried to. Instead he tripped and fell on his face. "Damn, it!" He muttered as he got up and shook off the dirt.

'Today's the day, I can finally become a knight!' Arnos mused. He was very pumped, ever since he was young; he had wanted to become a world renowned knight.

Arnos arrived at the gates of Luminous Knight School. He was shortly interrupted just as he was about to step through the gates.

"HEY, KID! Don't you know the school's not open today?" A nearby guard shouted.

"Oh, yes I know. I'm just here to qualify as a knight apprentice." Arnos replies as he strutted towards the guard.

"If that's what you're here for, the building is not in there. It's outside of the school."

"You see that round, large building on the right? That's where it is kid."

"Oh, thank you, Sir!"

Arnos smiled and walked away, he started skipping towards the building. The guard looked at the figure and sighed inwards. "Such a lean young boy, it's seems like he doesn't even have a bit of muscle. Does he really think he can get in?"

A boy with messy, spiky hair approached the knight admission office. A fit young looking man looked up from his paper.

"Hello, what are you here for?" The man asked

"Hi! Uhhh sorry I'm very nervous, ummm I'm here to apply to be a knight apprentice at Luminous Knight Sch-"

"Oh. Head in. The instructor will arrive shortly." The man spoke but Arnos couldn't help but shiver at the tone of the man.

He headed inside and looked around. It was huge, there was some training dummies and some other stuff that he didn't know what they were. He sat on a cushioning seat and waited. Soon enough, a huge towering man came in with a young woman with him. The man looked at Arnos up and down and shook his head. The young lady looked at him with pity.

"Sorry kid, you don't even need to do the test for me to tell you that you aren't suited to be a knight." He bluntly said.

"Wh-wh what? I'm sure you must be mistaken Sir, I may look like nothing but if you just give me a chance! I can prove myself!"

"Kid. Look I'm not playing any games, my assistant can even tell that you are not capable." "Look, maybe a knight is just not suited for you. Try a mage instead." The man said with no pity and left. On the way out the woman looked behind with a sad look and shook her head and continued walking out.

Arnos collapsed, his dreams crushed right in front of him. He tried not to cry. "This, why? All my life this my purpose in-"

SLAP! He slapped himself in the face and said, "No. Maybe he's right I'm not suited to be a knight but maybe I have magic affinity inside of me."

Arnos, defeated pulled himself off the ground and headed to where he 100% knew where the mage admission hall was. 'This place, I haven't been here since... Since brother applied and didn't survive the shock of the crystal ball, the aura was too strong.' The memories brought back tears. 'He would want me to be strong.' Arnos kept his head up and smiled.

He made his way in and was guided to a room with a beautiful crystal sphere in the middle.

"Are you sure you're ready kid? You know some people can not survive the aura."

Arnos took a deep breath, this was the only way he could prove himself.

"Yes. I'm ready."
