Chapter 7 - Coronation Part 1

"Well your highness, it's time for the crown prince's coronation." Rutley said as he wiped away his tears with a pure white handkerchief. "Right." Calder said as he walked up to Rutley. "Your highness?" Rutley asked as he looked at Calder's face. "I don't know where to go." Calder said sheepishly.

Blood trickled out of Rutley's mouth. "You grew up here!" Rutley shouted. "Ya but I only remember the rooms. I don't know the lay out." Calder said pitifully. More blood trickled from Rutley's mouth. Reality was cruel. Face slapping cruel.

Since they had time, Rutley showed Calder around. He spoke in a whisper as they passed servants and other officials so that Calder could memorize their faces. Again to Ta-Calder's surprise he was able to remember small details of all the places and people he met. Probably do to Rutley's crash course but everything seemed like it was coming back together. However he couldn't sake off a weird feeling.

"Your highness." Rutley said affectionately after they finished their tour. "Rutley are you sure you're not my secret lover or anything?" Calder whispered. Rutley turned a deep shade of green. "Rutley you're not looking too good." Calder said with a concerned voice.

"I've been with you since you were 8 years old. We have been together for the last 15 years. I dare say we even have a close friendship. Sire, I am your confidant and your assistant not once," Rutley said as a vein popped out on his lower, right cheek. He then grabbed Calder by the collar and brought him close to his face. Rage reflecting in is eyes. "Not once have we EVER been in THAT sort of relationship!" Rutley hissed. "I HAVE MY STANDARDS!" Rutley shouted.

"I'm sorry?" Calder said somewhat apologetically and somewhat awkwardly. Then he pointed to Rutley's hands. "But if anyone saw this and at a different angle they would think the same thing." He continued and Rutley turned white as a ghost. "YOUR HIGHNESS!" Rutley shouted as he let go of Calder. He then dropped down to his knees, tears flying into the air as he collided into the ground.

"Please have mercy your highness!" Rutley cried into the floor. "Rutley, it's okay." Calder said softly as servants and guests stopped and stared. "No it's not your highness! I insulted you, I practically assaulted you and even told you I have better taste then liking someone with your kind of face!" Rutley shouted.

"Um, Rutley you never said the last part." Calder said with an awkward laugh but inside he was crying. He completely understood where Rutley was coming from. "Have mercy! My stupid mouth just runs when my life is in danger!" Rutley cried. "Rutley shouldn't we be going to the main hall?" Calder said grimly as he tried to smile at the on lookers.

"You're not going to kill me?" Rutley asked pathetically as he raised his head. His eyes were puffy, nose was running and face was bright red. "No, I'm not going to kill you." Calder said with a heavy sigh. "You really had an epiphany after your near death experience!" Rutley shouted as he jumped to his feet. His face glowed with happiness and relief. The on lookers started to whisper while others ran off.

Calder was already exhausted. He also had a huge urge to rip apart his clothes and just blow off some steam. "You're right you highness. We need to move, we don't want to be late." Rutley said. Calder's eyes almost popped out of his head. Rutley had already freshened himself up and there were no traces of his disgraceful manner.

"Um Rutley, did you put on a play?" Calder whispered. "I have no idea what your talking about. I am just your humble servant not some street performer." Rutley said with a deadpan face. He then lead Calder to the main hall and directed him to his seat. He sat up in front where only the royal family members belonged.

However Calder was the only one left, the rest of the Royal family were assassinated while he and his brother were fighting in the war. Calder sat down then quickly grabbed Rutley's hand. Rutley looked back completely shocked.

"Where are you going? Aren't you family too?" Calder asked innocently but his face commanded Rutley to stay. "Your highness, not many people know I'm your cousin." Rutley said in a low voice as he tried to pull his hand away but Calder was too strong. "But big brother knows. Wouldn't he be sad that you weren't up here?" Calder asked. His face manged to change into a puppy dog face but it was not cute. Puppies usually begged their owners to stay but Calder looked more like a Doberman cornering his prey.

"My birth is a dishonorable one! His highness would be insulted if I sat up here!' Rutley hissed. "Sit, please." Calder said and Rutley sat without protest. He broke out into a cold sweat as he heard others whispering behind him while Calder looked positively pleased with himself.

Soon the coronation ceremony started and Calder saw his older brother for the first time after he woke up. Esai looked magnificent, they had the same silver grey hair, same amethyst coloured eyes, same olive coloured skin and looked to be the same height. The only difference was Esai had a gentle face, a well balanced body and he was a complete heart throb. Calder felt pride and joy as he watched his brother walk up to the front. "I must really love my brother." Calder thought as Esai gave him a smile when he walked by.

Calder beamed. "I really love my brother!" He thought while Rutley shivered in fear. The ceremony proceeded without any problems and Esai became the new King of Mariella Kingdom. Esai faced his people with a majestic smile.

"Men, women, children of the fair Kingdom of Mariella. I, Esai Asher Blake Kaimana, shall continue, preserve, and build upon the royal legacy that my father, my grandfather and my forefathers have left behind. I shall rule over our glorious Kingdom with righteousness, honour, for the betterment and happiness of all our people. I swear this to you as your new King." Esai said and then the hall erupted into cheer.
