From what I could tell, the guy who got shot hit the ground and passed out from the pain. Well, that's two more to go. But first I needed to defend against these skeletons. It was fortunate they were just archers. If they had been vanguards, they may have defeated me with their decent defense and higher level. First I need a way to find them. Maybe I should try to copy them and detect them through the mana in the air. Mhmmm!! A moan of frustration leaked through my throat.
Slowly, I could feel this wave like fluid in the air. In a particular direction, there was a abnormally large movement of mana. That must be the mana displaced by the skeleton's movements!
Running in low, I swiped my dagger at the darkness. At first a small contact with my dagger was made, but the pressure and density of the bones pushed back my dagger a little. There you are! Pushing strength into my legs to secure my standing position, I exert further strength into my right arm before *crack*. The bone broke! *Woosh* More arrows came flying at me. Continuously running I led them to aim near the entrance of the cave again. The arrows that flew with little strength when low instead, but there was still quite an amount of force as it pierced the bandits' bare legs. "AGhh! Annoying! Is that girl dead yet? Come let's go in ourselves! We can help him with his injuries later."(random bandit B)
A second volley of arrows rained toward the entrance, this time the arrows were high but there was too many. Random bandit C had used random bandit B as a meat shield. Random bandit A got hit through the skull and died." NOOOOO, why did you save me? Without you and aniki who passed out over here, I have nothing! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" (random bandit C)
"Live on! Brother.... Ughhhh" (random bandit B)
Haha, guess they don't know it's my fault. Was the darkness of the cave covering me well? One by one, I slashed down the skeletons with my dagger. Some of them could still move even when I cut them in half, so I had to stab them in the skull. Ehh? What is this glowing jewel? Is this their the core that moves the skeletons?! I should have just aim for these at the start. Seperating the cores by stabbing the skulls would be much easier than slashing at the spine and then stabbing the skull again for good measure.
After the battle, I had gained 4 levels from 9-13 and learned the skill [ Mana detection- tier 2]. Distributing most of my stats to agility, it felt like strength was filling up my legs to move faster. With my new skill, I could tell that random bandit C was getting dangerously closed. Running into the darkness, a new group of skeletons emerged, this time there were warriors mixed in and a volley of arrows aimed for random bandit C. Maybe it was because random bandit C had a bigger size and triggered the skeleton's mana detection more than I did. What transpired next shocked me.
" [ High Strength enhancement-tier 3]! " (C) With pure strength, the bandit had knocked the swarm down with just the shockwave of his fist. Was I going to die? Shit, I had to think of a way to get out of this predictment. The force thing I had to my advantage was that, he didn't know was that I was responsible for his friend's death. He hit the skeleton swarm in the right direction so he had some skill that could counter the darkness of this cave. There's a possibility he had a [sight] skill that just let's him see in the dark, preventing me from hiding. What should I do? Oh yeah, first I needed to see his stats. In this world, there was nothing blocking the viewing of stats except for disguise skills. Though, if these guys had disguise skills, I don't think they would hunt little girls in the forest.
Wait, what did he say just now? What if I copy him? Since, I couldn't really practice magic at home, I should first start with tier 1 so that the mana cost wouldn't be high. [Speed enhancement-tier 1]!, Ughh!!! A tough headache akin to a severe brain freeze hit me. Checking on my own mana, that one spell took all my mana. Is this the status effect [mana deficiency] ? Checking my status one more time, my assumption was correct. The bandit wasn't alerted by my spell, so he must be using a [sight] skill instead of [mana detection]. This was my chance to run!
Putting all my energy into my legs, I zoomed past the ground. Approaching bandit C, he pulled back his elbow and fist. Withstanding my speed, I jumped above his punch that formed a crater on the ground and stuck by dagger into his neck with all of my momentum. At the present, my strength stat was 50 and my speed stat was 220. Judging from his reaction, he was only slightly slower so I had to attack from his back. Shoving my dagger into his neck, blood splurted out and hit me in the eye. This is not the time to falter! I can't back out or I will die! Aaaaaaaaaaaaa~! Practically pushing so hard, my shoulder dislocated after bandit C was beheaded. Collapsing on the ground, I crawled to a corner of the cave and stood still to hide from any potential monsters.
I had leveled up from 13 to 19 gaining 6 levels at once in one day. Doesn't this mean I should just hunt for more homeless people? They are basically exp packs! Just kidding, the stress got to my head and went into a dangerous direction of thinking. First I needed to distribute my stats. From each level I gained 20 points to distribute. So the 6 levels earned me 120 points.
Name: Emily Shuu
Level: 19
Health: 100/100
Mana: 400/400
Strength: 50
Vitality: 10
Intelligence: 40
Agility: 320
Now I can surpass the souns barrier.
Speaking of stats, there was also a certain possibility that worried me,so I asked my father. Does getting a class late reduce my stat gain? The answer was no. Currently as a classless person, my maximum level was 50 and classes allowed me to surpass that barrier. At level 100 +, each level gave 40 stat points, at level 200 +, each level gave 60 stat points at level 300 +, each level gave 80 stat points and so on.
My first worry was the 15 years old requirement to get a class and surpass the lv 50 limit. But after voicing out my question, my father answered that if I reached level 50 before I was 15, I could get a class for free, though that was near impossible as it was dangerous for children to fight monsters. Fuh~, calming down, I stood back up. Today had been a long day and I gained quite a few levels. Maybe I should visit the public library tomorrow. I thought as I walked through the forest. Eh? Random bandit C got my dress all bloody. What the hell should I do? Ah, I could just jump into a river and write it off as childish amusement when my parents question me. I proceeded to swim off the blood from my dress and returned home shortly after.
