Chereads / The Zombie Town / Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

At night, when everyone was asleep, Fred sat alone, drinking wine and lost in thought. The tranquility was shattered by an ear-splitting, terrible sound. It was so powerful that it seemed to shake the entire world.

The houses trembled violently, and people ran outside in panic. Fred rushed out too, joining the others, "What the hell is going on?" Fred asked looking around, but no one had any idea what was happening. All they could see was an inferno—a blazing fire consuming everything in its path.

Disturbed, Fred hurried to the head of the family's apartment and demanded, "What is going on?"

The head of the family shook his head, his face pale. "I don't know. You should check."

"Could it be that someone is trying to wipe out the zombies?" Fred asked, his voice uneasy. "Or maybe they're bombing them? But who could it be?"

"I think the right thing now is to get everyone to save place, I don't want them to panic." The head of the family said.

"Alright, I got this!" Fred responded and head out to calm people down.

The next day, Fred decided to investigate. The plan had been to dig a massive hole, plant explosives inside, and lure the zombies into it to eliminate them all at once. But now, he needed a suitable site for the trap.

Fred drove out, scanning the area for the perfect spot. But on his journey, he was horrified to spot something unimaginable—aliens walking among the zombies. Panic surged through him as he quickly turned his car around.

As Fred raced back toward the community, the aliens began shooting at his vehicle. He pressed the gas pedal harder, narrowly escaping. Once inside, he yelled, "Close the gates! Everybody get inside! We're in serious trouble!"

Fred stormed into the head of the family's apartment, his face pale. "We have a bigger problem now," he said urgently.

"What happened?" the head of the family asked.

"Aliens," Fred replied. "I think they're here, and they're ready for war."

The head of the family's voice rose in disbelief. "What the hell are you talking about? We haven't even dealt with the zombies yet, and now you're telling me there are aliens?! Does God want to destroy us all?!"

Fred tried to calm him. "We need to get to the lab and tell the lab coach what's happening."

"How?" the head of the family retorted, throwing up his hands. "We have no phones, no laptops—nothing! And now, aliens? We're doomed!"

Their argument was cut short as chaos erupted outside. "I think it's them." Fred said. The aliens had launched an attack on the community. Explosions rang out, and people screamed as the invaders killed indiscriminately, destroying everything in sight.

Fred managed to slip past the carnage. Meanwhile, Jane, Cassandra, and Michael tried to fight back, firing at the aliens. But their bullets were useless, bouncing off the aliens' impenetrable bodies like pebbles.

"Everyone, find a safe place!" the head of the family shouted. "Save yourselves!"

As people scattered, Jane frantically called out, "Where's Alice?"

Michael peered through a window. "She's outside!"

Fred grabbed his weapon. "I'm going to get her."

"You can't!" the head of the family protested. "Let the child be! It's too dangerous!"

Fred glared at him. "I am not leaving her to die!"

"Come on Fred, you're going to risk your life because of a child?" The head of the family asked.

"She's a family!" Fred said and step out.

Dodging the aliens' fire, Fred darted outside, scooped up Alice, and brought her back to safety. Jane, furious, turned on the head of the family. "How could you even suggest leaving Alice behind? She's just a child!"

Head of the family could not answer, as Fred hug Alice tight and petting her.

The next day, the aliens had withdrawn, leaving the community in ruins. Fred, Michael, Cassandra, Jane, and Alice packed their belongings into the van, preparing to leave. The head of the family also packed, announcing that he would join them.

Fred stopped him. "You're not coming with us. Stay here in your 'community.' Everyone we tried to save are dead!"

The head of the family looked down, ashamed. "I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to die—that's why I said what I said about Alice."

Cassandra glared at him. "Alice's mother sacrificed herself for the vaccine that could save the world. And you wanted her child to die? Heartless bastard!"

The head of the family pleaded. "I know I was wrong. Please, let me come with you. I have nothing left here."

Reluctantly, they allowed him to join. As they drove toward the lab, they passed hordes of zombies. The group was unfazed; the zombies couldn't bite through their fortified vehicle. But their original plan—to lure the zombies into a pit and destroy them—was now impossible due to the alien attack.

When they arrived at the lab, the scene was grim. The fence was destroyed, and part of the building had collapsed.

"I guess the aliens have been here too," Fred muttered.

Inside, they found the lab coach waving from the roof, calling for help. They rushed in to meet him.

The lab coach's face was pale. "My lab is in ruins. Aliens attacked yesterday. Everyone is dead—I'm the only one left."

Cassandra asked skeptically, "How did you survive?"

"I hid," the coach admitted, his voice trembling.

Fred asked, "What do we do now? We can't kill them. Bullets don't work on them."

Before anyone could answer, they heard the same ominous sound from the night the aliens first appeared.

Jane's face went pale. "We've got more visitors. Everyone, hide!"

The aliens launched another brutal assault, killing zombies, destroying equipment, and filling the air with smoke and chaos.

Michael clenched his fists. "I'm going to face them!"

Fred grabbed his arm. "Are you out of your mind? Don't be stupid. You'll get yourself killed!"

Michael shook him off. "We can't just keep running!"

Cassandra pulled Michael back. "You'll get us all killed! Hide, now!"

As the aliens continued their rampage, the group stayed low, desperately searching for a way to survive.
