Chapter 38 - Escaping the Holding Cell in Birlin

Magnus woke up in a prison, a ray from the morning sun shining in through the small window at the top of his cell wall. He was feeling good and rested, ready for a hard day at work. What was his work exactly? The job of a soldier, to follow orders and improvise when things go south.

In today's instance, things had gone south. His squad got attacked, so he decided to try and complete his mission alone. He had no idea what was going on with them now, but he knew that the mission was safe in his own hands.

The others being with him would have made them a more effective killing group, but also louder and harder to coordinate. Now that Magnus was alone, he could do anything the mission called for as long as it wasn't illegal. So, Magnus stood up and called the guard over.

"Hey, Mr. Guard!", Magnus whispered over to the armed Deutsche man.

The guard was in a chair with his hat over his eyes. The sun was orangish, so he assumed it was around dawn. The guard was probably still asleep, as he was snoring.

The guard not responding, Magnus closed his eyes and focused. He visualized the bars of his bleak cell opening, and making a suitable path for exiting. Instead of going straight outside, Magnus needed to go through the building so he could get his gun and supplies back.

Hearing the bars creak as the curved as he saw in his imagination, Magnus stepped through the bars. He tip-toed up to the sleeping guard as quitely as possibly, so as to not wake him up.

When Magnus finally reached the man slouching in his chair, he made one swift movement, twisting his neck and killing him, instantly and quietly.

Magnus grabbed the handgun off of the man's dead body and looked through the small window in the door which had crossing security wire in it. Through it, he saw 5 more policemen in the room directly in front of him.

Magnus thought for a second, still standing at the window. While thinking on what to do now, he zoned out, and one of the men looked at the window. Magnus had been spotted. This sent a jolt down Magnus' spine, his instinct telling him to get down.

Magnus crouched down below the window. He wasn't sure what to do. In a split second, Magnus decided to take the high road, guns blazing and shoot his way to the Deutsche government building. Schmitler was most likely in a bunker at the moment, but the government building was good enough as there were Deutsche officials there.

Magnus moved over to the other side of the door where the hinges were so he would see the man first and waited. One of the Deutsche policemen opened the door and poked his head around, looking for the prisoner they had captured last night.

Then Magnus sprang into action, shooting the man in the room with him in the head. The handgun Magnus had was a 8-round semiautomatic pistol, so he had 7 more shots left to deal with the policemen.

Magnus went around the door and shot at the heads of the other Duetsche police officers. Two of the bullets hit their marks, one missed the head of the target and was embedded in his shoulder and the fifth and final target was nowhere to be seen.

The man who had gotten shot in the shoulder hid under the metal desk he was sitting at, and took out his gun.

Magnus slowly walked around the right side of the table to where the man was hiding. The man, holding his shoulder, pulled out his gun and shot Magnus eight times in the abdomen. He clicked the trigger, even after the magazine was empty, and started weeping.

After the bullets fell from Magnus' stomach as he healed himself, his arm rose and he shot another bullet, this time hitting its mark.

Down the hallway that was directly in front of his, there can another policeman, this time with a shotgun. When magnus saw the man spriting at his, he shot his last three bullets at the man sprinitng towards him.

One of the bullets whizzed by the man's head, and the other two hit, one in the chest and the other in the waist. That, however, did not impede his approach.

The man spriniting slowed for a second and shot Magnus with his shot of 21 pellets. The bb's tore into Magnus skin, but Magnus returned the favor by throwing the empty pistol at the man and sprining at him too.

The shotgun was a pump-action, so as Magnus was 5 feet away, he was still pumping the action. By the time he was finished pushing the empty casing out of the gun, magnus was in range for close quarters.

Magnus, bb's being pushed out of his body one at a time, engaged in hand-to-hand with the Deutsche man. Blows being traded, Magnus' hits grew stronger with each strike, as hiw wounds were inhibiting him less by the second as they were being healed.

They were locked in a dead heat, until Magnus gained the upper hand after 15 seconds of punches being dodged. Magnus was done healing, and ready to roll. He threw a left jab, which was dodged, but that was to be expected.

The Deutsche man, being pinned inbetween an arm and the wall of a narrow hallway, was hit by Magnus' right uppercut. This hit was a good, clean hit. It sent the Deutsche man staggering back, and Magnus tackled him.

Now on top of the policeman, Magnus was beating the snot out of him. After 4 or so punches across the face, Magnus spotted the shotgun on the floor, which hadn't been used since the hallway was too narrow and the fight was too intense.

Scrambling for the shotgun, Magnus landed on it, turned around, and fired at the man who was getting up.

Magnus had cleared out the police building, so he relaxed on the ground for a second. Getting up, Magnus looked around for his things, which he found in the police storage room. He also found the police supplies in the locked room which he had opened using visualization.

Loading two bullets into the riot shotgun, he grabbed his grease gun and put a magazine in it. He put the shotgun on his back and had the small automatic rifle strapped on his left shoulder, naturally being left-hand dominant, like his biological father.

Grabbing more ammunition for the shotgun and stuffing it into his breast pocket, he opened the door of the police building, realizing that he was in the holding cell of the Birlin Police Station. Coincidentally enough, it wasn't all too far from the government building, which was only around ten blocks away.

However, like most things in life, it wasn't as simple as a stroll through your neighborhood park. Between Magnus and his checkpoint stood an army. Peeking his head through the front door, Magnus caught a glimpse of what lay ahead. So, he pumped the shotgun, cocked the grease gun, and kicked the door open.
