Previously on Swarming the gods
As Blivet was about to be reached, he showed a hungry smirk before howling out loud wildly, calling to his brethren that burrowed under him and challenging these monsters to a fight to the death.
His way of using them was not through numbers, but by strength as the zerglings that emerged from the ground covered his body like armor before swinging the now enlarged foreleg covered in zerglings like a sword sidewards cleaving deep into the attacking monsters.
---------
With every swipe, Blivet managed to kill tens of these beasts. Sadly, that was like scratching the surface of a tidal wave.
Despite the zerglings snatching some of the weaker beasts to fuel and bolster their strength and power.
The Zerg were forced back due to their numbers that grew by the second.
The battle has just begun!
A giant snake charged forward, baring the cultivation of a mid-stage nascent profound realm.
As its Qi burst forth, pushing away all the weaker ones as its greed for more power caused this impatient move.
Blivet, with a guttural growl, used the minions that were bound to him to surge forward, changing the massive claw into a shield to block the attack.
While it managed to stop the Hungry snake, the amount of weight and power that it brought caused the zerg to drag its feet across the ground as its hind legs tore through it, leaving a long claw mark and several zerglings dead, which were quickly devoured by the horde of monsters and the hidden zergs that were waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
You could hear the chitin make some disturbing crackling, and the flesh beneath was ripping from just how hard the zerg was pushing his limits!
The strain on the back, legs, and arm had numerous cracks forming as Blivet struggled against this onslaught.
This charged blow was only the first attack.
A large bear-like creature stood on its hind legs and then ran towards the shield, entirely keen on breaking it.
Within seconds, it reached its goal, delivering a dominant tackle stronger than the snake's charge.
Guha!
Blood spurted out of the zerg's mandibles as his secondary lungs had the wind knocked out of them!
While Blivet got sent flying, some of the zerglings that acted as his shield exploded into bloody mists, with most nearly crushed to death only minutes away from dying, forcing their leader to absorb their bodies and essence.
The rest of the zerglings doubled their efforts to support their leader, changing their bodies to form harder defenses, better resistance to heavy blows, and the shockwaves that came with them.
But this was not enough to help him reach his goal; it was like tickling the annoying bottleneck that blocked his path to accomplishing his task fully.
Such logical actions could only do so much to counter spiritual energy commonly used in this world, but something was better than nothing.
Blivet was so desperate to do this because of his namesake, To pierce through the enemies of her foes deeply etched to his being, no, his very soul.
The Zerg wanted to prove that He was worthy of this name, and Blivet would show this through carnage and battle.
So much so that Blivet was reining in his nature, which wished to frenzy at this moment, this was a demerit of the current situation, but it was better than dying foolishly.
He landed on the ground, trying to heal the cracks in his carapace as his frame seemed to grow a few inches and coughing up any blood that pooled inside of his lungs caused by the attack from earlier.
As Blivet recovered a little, the horde of beasts returned more energetic than before, as their numbers had increased yet again.
The originally 100 zerglings became 73 due to the damage they received and Blivet absorbing them.
With the flesh and bones of the fallen coursing through his being, He used them to create something similar to A pitchfork and used the rest of the minions to grasp the newly formed weapon.
He wielded it like an amateur charging with it.
The horde of beasts saw this and roared mockingly toward the fool.
As they doubled their efforts to reach him first, even if it would cause casualties on their side, then again, even if they didn't, there would be some regardless if they were careful as some of the weaker ones already became snacks for the others.
A teaser before the main dish one could say!
Yet when they were within 10 feet, a bizarre thing had happened.
The target they were after suddenly vanished.
This action alone brought forth an even more significant number of deaths to the wave of beasts.
Many stopped, but the heavier-bodied ones damaged the smaller and lighter ones at the front.
What Blivet did was pretty simple.
What is the most essential ability of Zerg ground units?
He burrowed into the ground and, using his understanding of the ability, moved like a mole in the earth moving towards the weakest part of the horde...then struck.
A bloodied pitchfork pierced silently through the skill of a boar before pulling it into the burrow ruthlessly.
He delivered his attacks swiftly and efficiently.
As each attack killed the targets silently while moving to a better angle to kill more without alerting them, Blivet learned his lesson earlier. Now, the zerg was utilizing each skill he had to the best of his abilities.
With every death of an enemy serving to strengthen the zerglings, the feast brought many of them to the profound realm of the elementary, helping him chip away at the aggravating bottleneck.
Blivet separated from the zerglings so that they would feed on the carcasses to increase their chances to get stronger.
While he, on the other hand, emerged from the ground wielding a pitchfork, skewering and ripping through anything in his path, thanks to the attacks he had endured and the feast earlier, his foundation had grown more robust, and it could still improve.
Snake from before was the first to notice his reappearance, making this beast frantically charge towards him.
He stood upright like a human then brought forth his weapon, bracing himself for the second round, as a battle-hungry grin formed on Devouring one's face.
