Chapter 290 - Chapter 290 The Impossible to Find Dungeon Portal

As morning came Thomas sat up and mumbled "It's been a while since I've been able to just sleep." Thomas glanced at the bottom of the bed and seen a piece of paper as he mumbled "Oh right, everyone but Opal left to see the world." Thomas grabbed the piece of paper and said "Well let's see what this note says." As he opened the note he stared at it for a few more seconds and said "So in the end Opal decided to go with them to." Thomas glanced out the window and said "I guess it was nice of them to let me sleep, but I would've preferred to see them all off." As Thomas stood up he sighed and said "It's gonna be pretty quiet for a while." Thomas stared at the note in his hand and said "Guess I'll have to keep myself occupied from now on." As Thomas got out of bed he yawned and said "Maybe I should do some quests."

Thomas opened the window and leapt from it as he said "On second thought I don't think I will." Thomas entered the Eternal Flame Guild and glanced around as he said "Completely empty?" Thomas leaned over the counter and said "Malice isn't sleeping on the floor again, guess they're all out doing something." Thomas made a piece of paper appear and then took a pen and wrote "I'm gonna look for something fun to do, ps Malice try to sleep inside the pocket dimension and not on the floor." As Thomas left he said "Maybe I should have gone with them, it would've been more fun." Thomas sighed and said "But I was the only one who stayed." Thomas stood outside of the guild as he said "Maybe the black market will have something interesting to do." Thomas smiled and said "I'm sure they got all kinds of fun things, sure most of them are illegal but I'm sure it's fun."

As Thomas appeared in the black market beneath the City of Adventure he entered a random building and said "This one looks like fun." As he entered a man glanced at him and asked "Are you the customer here for the information on ancient and forbidden spells?" Thomas stared at the man for a few seconds and said "No but I'd be happy to hear this information." The man turned away and said "If your not a paying customer get lost." Thomas leaned on a counter that the man was behind and said "Okay then, how much do I have to pay?" The man glanced at Thomas and smirked as he said "Usually it's hundreds upon hundreds of pieces of gold, but since your a Demi human and probably don't have much coin, I'll tell you for... let's say... ten gold coins." Thomas thought for a moment and said "Okay, sounds good to me, if it makes me less bored count me in."

Thomas set the ten coins on the counter and asked "So, what can you tell me about these spells you were mentioning." The man stared at the gold and smiled as he said "I can't guarantee you anything, everything I've heard is just rumors after all, but I've heard of this dungeon that has a portal as an entrance, normally it would be quite simple to locate something like this, however, the portal opens at random locations at random times." The man leaned over the counter and said "The only reason it's considered a rumor however is because dozens of people have entered it, and they either don't return, or come back in pieces thousands of miles away from where they first entered." The man swiped the gold off the counter and into a sack as he said "If you can confirm these rumors for me, I'd be more then happy to share some more information with you."

Thomas thought for a moment and said "A dungeon with a constantly changing entrance and exit?" Thomas smiled and said "Alright, I'll take a look and let you know if I can find anything." The man set a potion on the table and said "Call it an investment, I have high hopes for you, even if you are a Demi human." Thomas picked the potion up and asked "What does it do?" The man smiled and said "It's an iron skin potion, it'll make your skin three times as hard." Thomas put the potion in his sun space and said "Thanks, I'll keep it in mind." The man set a piece of paper on the counter and said "Here, another parting gift, it's the records of all its know appearances, I also had a fortune teller predict will it will appear next, if you go to the place the paper tells you to you should be able to get there very soon."

Thomas stared at the paper and said "It's gonna be directly above the city?" The man nodded and said "Yes, it shouldn't cause any troubled or the city, but it is gonna be your easiest way into this dungeon, I'd recommend you don't miss it." Thomas stared at another number in the bottom right of the paper and said "It's supposed to appear tonight?" The man nodded and said "You'd best get your rest now, and if you'd like I can hire some mercenaries to go with you." Thomas stared at the man and said "No thanks, they'd probably turn on me the first chance they got." The man stared at him intrigued and asked "Why's that?" Thomas smiled and said "Well my bounty of one hundred gold is probably enough reason." The man stared at Thomas for another moment and said "If you don't come back in reporting you dead and claiming the prize money for myself."

Thomas walked out of the building as he said "Do what you want, thanks for the info." As Thomas stood outside the shop he smiled and said "To the person who was listening in, I'd recommend you stopped trying to hide." As a shadowy figure loomed out from the shadows they said with a strange echoing voice "I'm surprised you noticed me." Thomas stared at them and said "Don't give me that, I know you could've hid perfectly without any detection, you were just sloppily hiding because you thought I was careless." The shadowy figures vanished as it said "Your information is safe, I have no interest in it, however, I will continue to watch you from the shadows." Thomas stared at it and said "That sounds kinda creepy." Thomas turned back around and said "Well whatever, it's not too big a deal." Thomas smiled and said "Watch if you want, I'll be sure to give you a great show."

Thomas paused for a moment and said "But first I should probably buy health potions and mana potions just incase." Thomas sighed and said "Too bad if you want the really effective ones they don't exactly come cheap." Thomas teleported to town and said "Maybe I should make a new jacket while I'm at it, I've gone through quite a bit of jackets already." Thomas held some blue thread and said "Maybe I'll go with this color this time." Thomas entered a book shop after putting the thread away and saying "Yeah I might as well." As Thomas entered the shop the little girl who runs the book shop stared at him and said "It's been a while since I've seen you mister." Thomas smiled and said "Yup, I came by to pick up some new books, any you'd recommend for dungeons?" The girl nodded and said "Yeah, I have some, is there a specific dungeon your looking for?"

Thomas nodded and said "Yup, it's supposed to appear above this city pretty soon." The girl stared at him amazed and asked "Do you know what the dungeon is called?" Thomas shrugged and said "Nope, I just know it appears and disappears at random locations." The girl pulled a few books from the shelf and set them down on the counter as she said "Well since you don't know which dungeon it is I'd recommend buying these books on some monsters that are fairly common in dungeons." Thomas stared at the books and said "I should have time to read these all before tonight." The girl stared at him and said "Tonight?" Thomas nodded and said "Yes, the portal will appear some time tonight." The girl stared at him excitedly and asked "Do you think I'd be able to see it if I stayed up real late?"

Thomas thought for a moment and said "Well the paper said that it would be between sunset and sunrise, I guess you might be able to." Thomas set a few silver coins down on the counter and said "You can keep the change." As Thomas left the girl waved and said "Be sure to come back and tell me all about the dungeon when you get back." Thomas waved and said "I've still got some preparations to make but I'll be sure to come visit you first chance I get, and when I do, I'll tell you all about the dungeon." As he stood outside the shop he glanced up into the sky and said "I might even be able to show her this so called ancient spell, or whatever it was called." As Thomas walked through town he said "Maybe I should've made a to do list, I still need to make a new jacket, but potions, and read the new books I bought specifically for the dungeon."
