As Thomas, Daisy, Opal, and Malice left the subconscious Opal excitedly said "This fight is definitely one to remember." Malice nodded and said "Yes, but if you went against Thomas at his best I'm sure you'd lose." Opal glanced at Thomas excitedly and said "So you were holding back against me?" Thomas stared at her confused for a moment and said "I don't remember ever fighting Malice, I'm pretty sure that I swayed her with deserts." Malice stared at him in confusion and said "But you definitely took the brunt of my attack without even so much as a scratch."
Thomas stood there even more confused and said "Maybe this is what poppy was telling me about when she said that I'd forgotten something again?" Opal held her hand to his stomach and said "We can test if it's true easily." Thomas glanced at his stomach but before he could do anything Opal pierced a small hole completely through him using just her palm. Thomas held his stomach and fell to the ground as he mumbled "A heads up would've been nice." As he coughed up some blood and whispered "There were definitely better ways to test this."
Opal quickly drop to the ground beside him and began to apologize as Daisy sighed and said "I'll treat your wound." Thomas held his hand up a bit and said "No... don't, this will help test your theory about my body adapting to injury." Daisy stared at him and said "Don't be stupid, there is a hole that goes all the way through you." Malice smiled at him and said "So you do wanna get stronger after all." Thomas glanced at Malice and said "I could care less about strength, but I won't just sit around and watch people die." As he wiped the blood from his mouth he said "I've actually thought about this a lot recently."
Thomas smirked and said "I'm not gonna become stronger for my sake, but for the sake of others." After he said this Opal stared at him for a few seconds before picking him up by his jacket and saying "You can do that after the injury I caused you heals, it would bring me a great deal of pain if I found out that I was the one who killed you." Thomas hung there as she floated above the ground and carried him out of the Eternal Flame guild and towards the inn. Daisy and Malice glanced at each other for a moment as Malice asked "Is this normal for them?"
As Opal and Thomas arrived at the inn she flew in through the window and set him down on the bed. Opal stared at him for a few seconds and said "I should've believed you when you said you weren't as strong as Malice claimed." Thomas laid there for a moment and put his hand on her head as he smiled and said "Don't even worry about it kid, if this works out, I'll be stronger then when you first hit me." Opal sat there for a moment before saying "I'm not a kid." Opal sat there silently with his hand on her head for a moment and then asked "If the entire fairy race turned on me, would I be able to stay with you?"
Thomas lowered his hand back to his side and said "That's a strange thing to ask." Opal nodded and said "Yes it is, but I'd like to know your honest answer." Thomas thought for a moment and said "Yeah, I don't see any issue with it." Opal stared at him for a few more seconds and said "I should be on my way then, I'll visit again later." Once she left Thomas sat up and said "This hole is probably gonna take a few months to heal." After a few minutes Daisy walked in with bandages and said "I won't apply anything besides this to prevent some bleeding, I already know you'd complain if I tried to give you any additional treatment."
Thomas shook his head and said "No thanks, I'd rather let it heal on its own." Daisy tapped his chest and as he let out a grunt of pain she said "Just let me treat the injury, at least somewhat." Thomas continued to sit there and after a few seconds he fell backwards onto the bed. Daisy quickly panicked and shouted "Thomas!" As he laid there motionless Daisy checked his neck for a pulse and let out a sigh of relief as she said "Thank god, he's just unconscious." Daisy begin to take his shirt and jacket off as she said "This makes it much easier to treat his wound."
After a few hours Thomas woke back up and mumbled "What was I doing?" As he glanced down at his chest he noticed that he was shirtless and bandaged. Something even more strange he noticed was Opal laying on top of him sleeping. Thomas stared at her for a moment and asked "Am I hallucinating from blood loss?" Thomas glanced up at the roof and said "This pain kinda sucks." After laying there for a few moments Mary entered the room and shouted "Papa are you okay?" Thomas glanced at her and said "Yeah, I'm fine." As Opal began to wake up she rubbed her eyes and asked "What's going on?"
Thomas glanced at Opal without saying a word as her face turned into a bright red. Opal glanced up at him with her hands on his chest and said "I- wh- d-don't tell anyone about this!" Opal slightly moved her hand causing Thomas a lot of pain as he said "Watch it, that hurts." Opal got off of him and floated beside the bed as she said "I'm sorry, I always end up causing trouble for you." Thomas held his stomach and said "Don't worry about it too much." As he moved his hand Mary jumped up onto his stomach and shouted "Your finally awake!" Thomas flinched from the pain and said "Y-yeah, I'm awake."
Opal stared at Mary and said "You shouldn't hop on him, he's hurt right now." Mary crawled off of him and said "I'm sorry, I didn't know." Thomas smiled and said "Yeah, I kinda figured you didn't, you went with Mira and Lily today right?" Mary nodded and said "Yeah, we went shopping." Mary stared at him excitedly and asked "What did you do today to get such an injury?" Opal glanced away and said "That was caused by me." Thomas yawned and said "Yeah, we got something mixed up and had to test something." Mary glanced at Opal and said "You must be super strong if you can hurt him this badly."
Thomas laid back down and said "Yeah, she's pretty strong." As Mira and Lily entered the room Mira stared at him and said "We found out that the demon lord will be summoned within a couple of days." Thomas glanced at Mira and said "Seriously?" Mira nodded and said "It was in the papers today." Thomas thought for a moment and said "Oh right, I forgot there were papers with world wide news on them." Mira held the news paper above him and said "He'll be summoned in three days." Thomas stared at the paper for a few seconds and said "I wonder if the others will be okay."
Mira set the news paper aside and said "You shouldn't be worrying about them in your current condition, just lay there and sleep." Opal hovered over him and said "But before you sleep do you mind if I ask you something." Thomas glanced at her and said "Another question? sure what is it." Opal lowered her face to get closer to his and said "I've been allowed to leave the fairy forest for as long as I please, do you mind if I stay with you for a while." Thomas stared at her for a few seconds and said "I don't have a problem with it, but you should probably ask the others."
Opal glanced at Mira, Lily, and Mary as she asked "Can I stay with you all?" The three of them nodded as Mira said "It would be nice to have another helping hand around here." Opal turned to them and bowed while saying "Thank you for allowing me to stay with you." Mira stared at Opal and said "There aren't enough beds so you'll have to share one with someone, or if you'd like you can sleep in mine and I can share one with someone." Opal thought for a moment and lowered herself to Thomas's side and said "I shall sleep here tonight."
Thomas glanced at her and said "You can have the bed if you want, I usually sleep wherever anyway." Opal held onto his arm and said "No, if you leave I won't be able to make sure your okay in the middle of the night." Thomas yawned and said "So this is still about that injury." Mira stared at them enviously and said "I hope you enjoy your rest" before marching out of the room with Mary and Lily. Thomas watched as they left and asked himself "Why did she seem so mad, did I do something wrong?" Thomas sighed and mumbled "I don't think I'll ever understand people."
