Chapter 261 - Chapter 261 A Visit From A Dullahan

After another day Daisy finally let go of his tail and said "It seems like your temperature has gone down to normal." Thomas sat up and mumbled "What good does that do me, I won't even be able to stand properly for a while." Daisy began to walk away as she said "If you don't wanna move that's fine to." Thomas stood up and said "No, I'll walk around until my balance fixes itself." Daisy walked out of the inn room and said "Okay but be carful, your eye is still grey." Thomas stumbles to the door and mumbled "Maybe I'll just teleport to we're I'm trying to go." Thomas glanced around the room and said "If I fall too hard I might injure myself even more." Thomas teleported to the top of the city wall as he mumbled "Let's see how things are going over here." Thomas peered off the side of the wall and watched as a man tossed a torch onto the pile of corpses. Thomas scratched the back of his head and said "They should at least have the decency to bury them." Thomas stared at the pile and said "Well maybe not, they were undead to begin with so destroying the body might actually be a smart move." Thomas nodded and said "Yeah makes sense to me, better be safe then sorry." As a voice beside him said "Your the one with poor health who refuses to die." Thomas glanced beside him and seen a female head laying there as he asked "Am I hearing things?" The head glanced at Thomas and said "Don't act as if you don't see me." Thomas stared at the head for a few seconds and mumbled "Did I hit my head?" As a hand tapped Thomas on his shoulder he glanced to see who it was but only seen a headless body. Thomas stared at the headless body and asked "Did I eat another strange plant?" The head stared at the body and said "That body is mine, pay no mind to it and direct you attention onto me." Thomas glanced at the head and said "Okay, but why?" The head smiled and said "I am a dallahan, I have found you to be in poor health and had come to find out why you are still alive." The body put a scythe to Thomas's throat as the head said "You should've died many times already, but you refuse to, I only came here to observe you and find out what makes you an exception and allows you to escape death." Thomas pushed the scythe away and said "Beats me, all I know is that when I should die my eyes go grey and I become a lot easier to kill." Thomas picked up her head and said "Enough about me what's up with you coming in two separate pieces?" She glanced at her body and said "About that, do you mind putting my head back on." Thomas glanced at her body and said "Wait did you drop your own head?" As Thomas put the head back onto her shoulder she sighed and said "Unfortunately that's exactly what happened." Thomas stared at her and said "You might wanna be more careful, if you lose your head who knows where it may end up." As the dullahan nodded while talking her head fell off. Thomas caught her head and said "Looks like this is already quite the pain." Thomas set her head back onto her body and said "Maybe you should wear a shirt with a collar, or maybe a scarf." She stared at him and said "I'm sure I'll be fine without those trivial things." Thomas held the other shirt and a scarf in his opposite hand as he said "You don't have to worry about buying it I have one that I made a few days ago." The dullahan stared at the scarf as she said "I will not take from you, I am just here to find out how you've avoided death." Thomas scratched the back of his head and said "You could at least try it on before turning it down." The dullahan grabbed the scarf and said "Fine, I'll wear it for just a bit." As she put the scarf on she moved her head around and said "It still slides around a bit but it doesn't seem as though it will fall as much." Thomas nodded and said "Yup, so enjoy your new scarf." As Thomas began to swap shirts the dullahan stared at him and said "I did not accept this scarf from you." Thomas began to stretch as he mumbled "Back to this heavy weighted thing." Thomas glanced at her and said "Just keep the stupid scarf, I can make another one later." She stared at him and said "But I have done nothing for you, it is unreasonable that you give me a gift a few minutes after meeting me." Thomas shrugged and said "Guess I'm unreasonable then." The dullahan pointed her scythe at him and said "Then I shall repay this debt to you eventually." Thomas began to motion his hand as if he was shooing her as he said "Yeah whatever, just take care of the scarf." The dullahan stared at him and said "Fine how about I tell you were you stand in your current heath on a scale of one to ten, ten being very well much alive and one being practically dead." Thomas pointed at his eyes and said "I don't need your fortune, my eyes tell me if I'm close to death." The dullahan pointed at him and said "You don't have to be so stuck up, I just wish to tell you that you better use your ability to avoid death soon so I can see it before you die." Thomas pointed at his eye and said "This is the ability." The dullahan stared at him and said "It just prevents death and you have to get better on your own?" Thomas shook his head and said "It does prevent it but it makes me easier to kill for about a week or so, it also allows me to intake more mana and move faster." The dullahan stared at him and said "Your abilities truly must be studied." Thomas stood up and said "Maybe later, I'm gonna go somewhere else right now, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't try and figure out how my abilities work." The dullahan stared at him and said "Nonsense, asking a dullahan not to explore the concepts of life and death is like telling you not to breathe." Thomas stared at her confused and asked "Can you explain that to me but dumb it down a bit." The dullahan sighed and said "I'm saying that even if I asked you to stop breathing you would continue wouldn't you?" Thomas nodded and said "Oh I get it now." Thomas took a step towards her and said "Your saying you'll continue to observe me even if you try to avoid to." As Thomas went to lift his other foot he began to fall towards her as he shouted "Look out my balance is still a bit off!" Thomas landed face first into her chest as she said "your current condition makes it dangerous to fall." Thomas glanced up at her and said "My bad, someone messed with my tail and that screwed up my center of balance." The dullahan stared at him and said "It's fine, because as long as your alive I can continue to view your abilities that have kept you alive up to this point." Thomas took a step back and stumbled backwards a bit as he said "Sorry, I was trying not to move so I could avoid flailing around and falling." As he took another step backwards he began to fall over the wall as he mumbled "Whoops." Thomas teleported a few feet in front of were he was and fell onto the ground as he mumbled "I really should be more careful." Thomas glanced at the dullahan and said "I'm gonna actually go this time." As he teleported away the dullahan stared at where he was and said "He appears to not know much about his own abilities." The dullahan held onto the scarf and said "I'll have to keep a very close watch on him and also be sure to repay my debt to him for this scarf." As Thomas reappeared in the book shop with the little girl she glanced at him and said "Your back again?" Thomas glanced at her and said "Yeah, it doesn't seem like this shop gets a lot of customers and it's quite nice to relax in and read." The girl smiled and asked "Does that mean your gonna keep me company again?" Thomas nodded and said "Yeah, I'll buy some more books while I'm here to." The girl smiled and said "That's good to hear to." Thomas looked around and asked "Are your parents out again?" The girl nodded and said "Yeah they left this morning to pick up a shipment of new books."
