As Thomas and Mary walked around the town Mary glanced at him and said "I'm hungry." Thomas glanced at a food cart and asked "You wanna get something from that?" Mary stared at the food on the cart and asked "What is it?" As they walked up to the cart a woman glanced at them and asked "Are you interested in our selection of sweets?" Mary stared at the selection and said "They all look so good!" The woman handed both Thomas and Mary a sample as she said "I'd recommend this, it's really good." As they both took it and bit into it the woman smiled and said "That guild lady made this seem pretty difficult." Thomas glared at her and asked "What did you just say?" The woman smirked and said "Its rather simple, I poisoned the sample I gave you, by now you should be feeling pretty weak." Thomas stared at her and said "Oh, so just my sample was poisoned?" The woman nodded and said "Yes, it wouldn't do me any good to buy paralysis poison and waste it on people that I have no interest in." Mary stared at Thomas and sadly asked "Papa is the poison dangerous?" Thomas shrugged and said "Doesn't feel like it." The woman stared at him and said "Your still moving normally?" The woman turned around and pulled a bottle out of her pocket as she mumbled "Why isn't this working?" Mary stared at the woman and said "The food was really good." The woman turned around and stared at Thomas as she asked "Why weren't you affected?" The woman tossed the bottle at Thomas and shouted "I must've been ripped off!" Thomas caught the bottle and said "It doesn't smell like you were ripped off." The woman pointed to the bottle and said "I put enough poison in your sample to paralyze five men, tell me why it's not working then." Thomas sighed and said "Probably because I have a tolerance for it because every time I gather fruit that I can't tell apart I taste it, I've found out that some were poisonous but it didn't have much of an affect on me." The woman pointed at him and shouted "Then prove it, drink that whole bottle!" Thomas glanced at the bottle and said "I never said it didn't affect me, it will still do something." The woman sighed and said "I was really counting on this working to." Mary glanced at Thomas and asked "Does poison really not affect you?" Thomas stared at them and asked "Do you really want me to drink this?" The woman stared at Thomas and shouted "Yes please!" Thomas glanced at Mary who was staring in anticipation as he said "Okay I'll drink the stupid poison." As Thomas began to drink it the woman stared at him and said "He really wasn't kidding, he has an amazing poison tolerance." Thomas set the bottle down on the stand and mumbled "I think my legs fell asleep." The woman smiled and said "The the poison is working!" The woman pulled out a knife and said "Now all I have to do is get a single attack in." As she swung the knife it missed as Thomas slumped down to the ground and mumbled "I can't feel my legs." Mary stared at Thomas and nervously asked "Are you alright?" Thomas roller over onto his back and said "Just give me a minute, I'm sure I can walk it off." Mary glanced at the woman and leapt in front of Thomas as she shouted "Don't hurt him!" The woman stared at Mary and said "My previous attacked missed on purpose, besides I only swung like that because I though the poison would wear off before I had time to react." The woman crouched down and grabbed Thomas's hand and cut his finger with the knife as she said "I only need proof that I did damage and I'll be able to join." Mary stared at her and asked "Does that mean your not gonna hurt him too badly." As the woman stood back up she handed Mary a potion and said "Make him drink this, it'll cure the paralysis." Mary crouched down and started to pour the potion into his mouth as she said "Drink this, it'll make you feel better." Once the potion bottle was empty Thomas sat up and said "Told you poison still had some effect." The woman stared at Thomas and said "Now come with me so I can show that other woman that I managed to cut you." Thomas handed her a paper and said "I don't feel like it so just use this to get admission to the guild." The woman stared at it excitedly and said "Does this mean I got permission from the head of the guild!" Thomas handed her a quill with ink on the end of it as he said "All you need to do is sign your name and turn it in, all the details are listed and you can ask Sarah about the rest." As she took the quill from her hand and wrote her name she smiled and said "I can't believe I'm joining the guild of someone of your caliber." Mary glanced at the paper and said "Your name is Gwen?" When glanced at her and said "Did I not say it earlier?" Mary nodded and said "All you did was poison papa and cure him." Gwen apologized and stuck her hand out as she said "Well I'm Gwen and I've recently became an assassin and adventure and was hoping to make it big in The City Of Adventure." Gwen faces turned red as she said "And so I begged that lady at The Eternal Flame guild to let me join, after a while she caved in and said that she'd warn you about me and if I managed to hit you she'd let me join." Thomas stared at her and said "So Sarah put you up to this." Gwen nodded and said "Yeah, but the poison was my idea, sorry." Mary glanced at Thomas and asked "Does that mean there won't be any more assassins coming after you?" Thomas shrugged and said "Depends if Sarah decides to or not." Gwen picked up the bottle from the table and said "No there shouldn't be anymore, but I'm actually surprised that it took you a while bottle of poison before you started to feel the effects." Gwen set the bottle back down and said "There should've been enough for at least another twenty people in there." Gwen shrugged and said "Oh well guess I'll just have to buy more later." Thomas stared at her and asked "Do you have any other methods besides drinkable?" Gwen nodded and said "Of course I have other methods, but I figured I could just get you with food and call it a day." Mary stared at Gwen and said "But papa's stomach wasn't affected by your poison and he took pity on you." Gwen stared at Thomas and asked "Is that true?" Thomas looked away and didn't say anything as Gwen said "You mean the only reason you drank the poison was really out of pity?" Mary nodded and said "Yeah, papa did it out of the kindness of his heart." Thomas glanced at Mary and said "I think we should've kept that part a secret from her." Mary glanced back at Gwen and said "I mean, good job you did great in order to best papa!" Gwen sighed and said "But I thought all of my hard work was finally paying off." Mary stared at her and said "Don't feel too bad papa is just really strong and hard to beat." Thomas stood there and said "What counts is you made an effort, and that effort would've proven successful if you were against probably almost anyone else." Gwen pointed at Thomas and said "I won't accept this as a win, I'll I try to get you another time, so next time I try don't take pity on me!" Thomas pointed to the paper and asked "Does that mean you don't want that?" Gwen held onto the paper and said "No I want it, but I also want to beat you fair and square." Thomas stared at her and said "That sounds like a waste of time but good luck." Gwen smiled and said "You better watch out I'll get you for sure." Thomas handed her the note and said "You might want this back." Gwen held the note and said "That's right, I forgot you were able to see that trap I laid." Thomas began to walk away with Mary as he said "Keep in mind what you've learned today, if you wanna beat me I'd recommend finding out simple methods that work well." Gwen nodded and said "Right, I'll start working on a method of beating you right away then!" Mary glanced at Thomas and asked "Do you really think she can beat you?" Thomas shrugged and whispered to her "I don't have a clue but I didn't want her to feel as though she never stood a chance."
