Chapter 103 - Chapter 103 Cold blooded And Freezing

As the sun rose the very next day they all began to prepare their ascent up the mountain so they could return their lamia friend to her family. As they all met outside of the inn the small snake girl slithered up to Thomas and asked "If I wrap around my arm you won't burn me right?" Thomas nodded as he said "I've wasted quite a bit of mana but I should be able to keep it up for a while." Lily glanced at Thomas and said "If you hurt her I'll make sure that the seal does extra damage." Thomas ignored her as he asked "How long is the trip." Ocis stared at him and said "Daisy said it should only be two days worth of travel." Scarlett stared at them all and said "Come on we must make haste." Thomas sighed as he mumbled "I liked the way she talked whenever she flew into that wall better." As Thomas picked up the snake girl she wrapped herself around his arm and held on tightly. Thomas glanced at her and asked "You ready to see if I can manage the spell for a whole day?" She stared at him nervously and nodded as she said "I'm willing to give it a try since I don't have any other options." Thomas held his arm out and said "Blaze." As his arm began to heat up the snake girl shut her eyes and clutched Thomas's arm with her hands and tail. Thomas began to feel some pain in his arm as he stared at her and said "Your kinda crushing my arm." She began to loosen up as she glanced at him and apologized. Thomas smiles as he said "See I didn't burn you alive." Daisy stared at the snake girl and said "Yet." Thomas stared at Daisy and said "Don't mind her she's just trying to scare you." Daisy walked up to Thomas as she asked "Aren't you going to wear a jacket?" Thomas shook his head as he said "The cold never bothered me anyway, besides I also burnt through the sleeve and it's gonna need repairs." Scarlett walked towards them and said "If we don't start moving now we'll just have less sunlight." Thomas deactivated the spell as they all began to march off into the distance towards an icy mountain. Once they arrived at the bottom of the mountain Daisy stared at it and said "We can rest on top of the mountain for tonight and finish our descent tomorrow." Thomas stared at the top of the mountain and said "Race you to the top?" Lily glared at him and said "The last time you climbed a mountain you nearly died to a pack of wolves." Daisy stared at him and asked "Do you still have the pelt of the one that you killed?" Thomas nodded as he said "It's been in the satchel for a while now." Scarlett walked towards Thomas and said "Under normal circumstances we wouldn't have cared if you climbed the mountain or did whatever you wanted to reach the top, however we can't risk you getting injured right now since it could bring harm to the lamia wrapped around your arm." Thomas shrugged and began to walk up the path as he said "We're wasting day light." After climbing the mountain for a while Thomas glanced at the snake girl and asked "How you holding up?" She stared at him and said "It's actually quite warm." Lily glanced at Thomas and asked "How long will you be able to keep that spell up?" Thomas thought about it for a while and said "I should be able to keep it going for a few days." As they reached the top of the mountain the sun began to set. Thomas walked to the edge of the mountain and peered off into the distance, looking down upon the village they would soon be heading to." Thomas yawned as he said "We'll all be their eventually." The snake girl stared at the village and said "Its my home!" Thomas nodded as he turned around and walked towards the others. They stared at him and asked "How are you going to sleep." Thomas sighed as he said "I can't sleep, if I do that it'll deactivate the spell." Ocis stared at him and said "I'll stay up and keep you company." Thomas glanced at her and said "That's fine you don't have to do that." The snake girl glanced at Thomas and asked "Will I be alright." Thomas stared at her and said "You'll be fine." As Lily and Scarlett set up the camp Lily said "Me and Scarlett picked up some food from the town so you don't need to worry about finding any in this frozen wasteland." Thomas walked over towards the fire and sat down as he sighed and said "Not only am I gonna have to use most of my mana but I'm also gonna have to stay up the whole night." Thomas stared at the sky and mumbled "This is gonna be extremely exhausting." The snake girl stared at Thomas and asked "What will happen if you accidentally fall asleep?" Thomas stared at her and said "That's simple, the spell will deactivate and you'll slowly die." They all stared at Thomas as the snake girl fearfully said "I don't wanna die." Daisy walked towards Thomas and hit him as she said "Stop trying to scare her." Thomas glared at her and asked "Weren't you doing the exact same thing before we left the town?" Daisy glared at him as she said "I was joking around but your dead serious." Thomas stared at her confused as he said "I thought you knew what could happen." She stared at him and asked "She actually could've been burnt to a crisp?" Thomas nodded as he said "Could've and still might." The snake girl began to tighten around his arm again as she said "Please don't let me die." Thomas stared at her as he said "I don't plan on letting anybody die so just relax, and stop squeezing my arm." As she loosened up once again Lily stared at him and said "You better not fall asleep or I'll make sure regret it." Thomas stared at her and said "It's easier to focus on the spell when your not making threats at me." Thomas sat their staring up at the star filled sky as Ocis sat beside him and leaned on his shoulder. As Ocis put her head on Thomas's shoulder she said "I can feel the heat." Thomas continued to stare into the sky as he said "Unfortunately Blaze only works in the arms and hands so I'm actually unable to use the magic anywhere else." Ocis glanced at the snake girl and said "No wonder your so warm." As the other went to sleep Ocis and Thomas sat their as the snake girl slept on Thomas's arm. Thomas glanced at Ocis and said "You can go to sleep with the others if you'd like." Ocis stared at him and said "But if I go to sleep who's gonna keep you awake?" Thomas yawned as he said "I'll manage so theirs nothing to worry about." After sitting their for a while Ocis began to fall asleep on Thomas's shoulder. Thomas glanced at her and said "Goodnight, thanks for keeping me company." Thomas glanced at the snake girl and said "I don't plan on letting you or anyone else die, so just hang in their for a little while longer." Thomas yawned as he listened to some wolves howl in the distance. Thomas reaches into his satchel and pulled the pelt out and wrapped it around Ocis. Thomas glanced at her and said "Try not to catch a cold." Thomas glanced back up at the sky as he said "I don't have a blanket with me but I'm sure the pelt will do fine." Thomas reached back into his satchel and pulled out his damaged jacket and wrapped it around the snake girls body. Thomas yawned as he said "The tents would've probably been much warmer but I suppose they'll both have to make due with what they've got." As Thomas stood up he walked towards the edge of the cliff once more and said "If I can keep this up for a few more hours we'll be able to march down this mountain and I can finally stop casting this spell." Thomas glanced behind him at the others as he said "Hope your enjoying your rest." Thomas glanced back at the lamia village and said "I won't be able to sleep until tomorrow." Thomas walked back towards them as he reached into his satchel and pulled out the compass. He stared at it for a while as he said "I suppose using this could work." Thomas out the compass back in his satchel as he said "I'll give it a try tomorrow but as of now I really really need to save my mana."
