As Thomas and Lily left the tavern they walked towards the forest. Lily glanced at Thomas as she asked "How are we gonna best it?" Thomas shrugged as he said "Dunno but I'm sure it'll turn out fine." Lily glared at him as she asked "Are you not nervous about fighting something that can be incredibly dangerous?" Thomas glanced at her as he said "Being nervous wont change the outcome of the fight." Lily sighed as she said "I don't think you mean that I just think you don't know how to be nervous." Thomas stared into the forest as he asked "How do we know if we found the ent or not?" Lily stared into the forest as she said "I'm sure it'll reveal it's self." Thomas began to walk into the forest as he said "I probably won't be able to tell the difference between the smell of an ent and the smell of a normal tree." Thomas glanced at Lily as he said "I'm gonna hop around and see if I can find anything." Lily stared at him and began to pout as she said "No fair, if your going you have to bring me!" Thomas walked towards her and picked her up as he said "Ok but don't complain about me dashing through the forest." As Thomas began to run into the forest Lily asked "How are we gonna see the ent if your just gonna run through the forest without observing anything?" Thomas continued to run straight at a tree as he jumped into the air and onto the tree and then pushed off of it sending him flying onto another tree as Lily shouted "What are you doing?" Thomas smiles as he said "If I hop on a moving tree I'm sure we'll know that it's the ent we're looking for." Lily continued to scream as she shouted "Put me down this instant!" Thomas glanced at her and said "No can do I plan on getting this done as soon as possible." Thomas glanced around as he felt a sharp shock pulse through his body sending him plummeting to the ground. Thomas glanced at Lily and covered her causing him to take most of the damage once they made impact. Thomas laid their still holding onto Lily as he asked "Are you alright?" Lily glanced up at him as she said "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to command you to stop and have you fall." Thomas laid their as said "I forgot about the commands since you haven't been using them." Thomas let go of Lily as she stood up he laid their and muttered "How far did we fall?" Lily glanced up as she said "We fell more then ten feet." Lily walked over to Thomas and stared at him as she asked "Are you alright, you took most of the impact from that landing." Thomas sat up as he said "I'll be fine." Lily walked around him and stared at his back as she said "Your a liar your bleeding through your clothes." Thomas glanced at her as he asked "It's that bad huh?" Lily walked in front of him as she said "You need to tell the truth about your injuries." Lily reaches into Thomas's satchel and pulled out some bandages as she said "I put these in here just in case but it's clear to me that you haven't noticed yet." Lily walked behind Thomas and said "Take off your jacket and shirt." Thomas glanced at her as she said "I may not be as good as Daisy but it should at least stop the bleeding." Thomas took off his shirt and jacket as he glanced around the forest and mumbled "I wonder if theirs an easier way to find these ents." As Lily bandaged Thomas he mumbled "That hurts you know." Lily pulled on the bandage as she said "You'll have to deal with it until I'm done tending to your injuries." Thomas sighed as he asked "How much longer is this gonna take?" Lily slapped him on the back and said "Good as new!" Thomas shouted as he asked "What was that for?" Lily put the bandages back into the satchel as she said "That's for not listening to me." As Lily took her hand out of the satchel she knocked the compass out of the bag. Lily picked it up as she asked "Since when did we have a compass?" Thomas grabbed the compass and said "I found this in the lake with the frog." Lily stared at him as she asked "Do you know it's broken?" Thomas stared at the compass and watched as it spun in circles a few times and then proceeded to point in a single direction. Thomas showed her it as he said "See it's not broken." She grabbed the compass out of his hands and it began to spin once again as she shown him and said "It is broken!" Thomas grabbed it and watched where it stopped as he said "You may be right it's not pointing North." Lily stared at the back of the compass as she pointed and said "Theirs a note on the back in a strange language." Thomas turned the compass around and stared at it as he said "A compass that feeds on mana, a compass to point you in the right direction." Thomas put his shirt and jacket back on and started to walk towards where the compass was pointing as Lily asked "How can you read that strange writing but not understand our modern text?" Thomas shrugged as he said "Let's follow the compass." Lily sighed as she asked "Why do you have to be a total mystery?" Thomas glanced at Lily as he said "It's convenient." Lily followed him as she shouted "Who is that convenient for?" Thomas smiled as he asked "Have you ever heard of an adventure without some sort of problem?" Lily sighed as she said "I'll never understand you." Thomas continued to follow the compass until he arrived at a tree. Thomas stared at it and walked around the tree. As he walked around the tree the compass began to shift and point at the tree. Thomas stared at the tree as he put the compass away and said "The compass points here." Thomas sat down as he mumbled "That compass ain't kidding it drains a ton of mana." Lily put her hand on the tree as she asked "Why did the compass point us here?" Thomas glanced around the forest and mumbled "The compass points you in the right direction?" Thomas stood up and began to think about what the compass could've done. Lily glanced at Thomas and asked "Should we try cutting the tree down?" Thomas continued to mumbled things to himself about the compass as Lily continued to ask him about the tree. Thomas smiled as he said "The compass was probably pointing us towards the ent." Lily glanced at the tree as she asked "Are you sure this is an ent, it looks just like a normal tree to me." Thomas put his hand on a tree and then put his hand onto the tree that the compass was pointing too. Thomas closed his eyes and began to concentrate on the tree as he mumbled "This tree has a source of mana." Thomas opened his eyes and said "Now that I'm focused on it I can smell the mana." Thomas took a few steps back and asked "Are you ready?" Lily nodded as she said "We're gonna stop this ent from attacking people who wander around this forest." Thomas smiled as he ran towards the tree and punched it. Thomas held his hand and mumbled Ouch ouch ouch, why did I think punching a tree with momentum was a good idea." Lily glared at him as she asked "Don't you punch boulders?" Thomas nodded as he said "I do but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt." Lily stared at the tree as she asked "Why isn't it moving?" Thomas walked towards it and put his hand back on it. As the tree began to move it smacked Thomas away as he mumbled "Why did it start moving as soon as I was near it?" Once Thomas was knocked to the ground he began to stand up as he mumbled "Punching it doesn't work." Lily glanced at Thomas as she pulled out her dagger and tossed it to him while shouting "Use this!" Thomas caught the dagger and said "A dagger should give me an edge in this battle." The ent began to pull its arms off from its sides as it made a loud creeping sound. The tree began to take a more humanoid form as a face began to from on the bark and the legs began to separate from the trunk. The tree glared at Thomas and shouted "Who dares disturb my forest?" Thomas stared at the ent as he asked "What makes you say that this is your forest?" The ent waved his arms around as he said "Do you not see all of my people?" Thomas looked around at all of the trees as he said "None of them are alive, I can only smell the mana from you even if I focus on everything around me." The ent glared at Thomas and shouted "You speak of lies!"
