Chapter 88 - Chapter 88 A Genius From Another World

As they approached the next town a strange man ran past them. Thomas glanced at the man as he mumbled "Looks like he's in a hurry." As the man entered the town he quickly disappeared out of sight. Daisy glanced at Thomas as she said "Try to keep a low profile." Thomas shrugged as he said "I'll do my best." Daisy sighed as she said "That's probably the best we can hope for." As they all entered the town Lily glanced at Thomas and said "We're gonna go get a room at the inn and do some quests for money." Thomas stared at her as he asked "Its alright if I stop by and get a quest right?" Daisy glared at him as she said "As long as you don't draw attention to yourself." Thomas took his jacket off and put it in the bag and pulled a cloak out. Thomas put the cloak on as he said "This hides more of my face. Thomas pointed to his tail as he said "It even hides the most obvious feature." They stared at him as they asked "How long do you think his disguise will work?" Thomas began to walk around the town as he mumbled "Its a pain to hide most of my face but it's the best I can do to avoid anyone recognizing me." Thomas glanced at a poster of himself as he mumbled "one hundred and twenty five?" Thomas tore the poster from the wall and mumbled "They increased it by twenty when I wasn't even the one who killed him." Thomas began to walk through the town as he mumbled "How did they get these posters here before we arrived?" Thomas shrugged as he seen the same man from before. Thomas began to follow him as he said "I don't have anything better to do so why not." As Thomas watched him enter a store he mumbled "What could you be buying?" Thomas followed him into the store as he mumbled "I know I seen him go in here so where is he?" Thomas began to walk around the store as he felt a knife on his back and a voice ask "Are you one of the assassins searching for me?" Thomas sighed as he said "Guess being a creep really doesn't work out for me." The man began to press the dagger onto Thomas's back as he asked "Who are you?" Thomas stood their as he said "I'm just a guy curiosity bested." The man lowered the dagger as he said "A moron such as yourself poses no threat to me." Thomas glanced at him as he asked "How do you know I'm a moron?" The man put his dagger away as he said "Only a moron or an incredibly strong person can remain calm in a situation where they might die, and you don't exactly strike me as the strong type." Thomas stared at him with a blank stare as he said "So ignoring the insult, what are you doing?" The man pulled Thomas closely as he said " I can't trust you and if you wish to live I'd recommend not associating yourself with me." As the man pulled Thomas closer he noticed that Thomas was the same man on the wanted posters as he said "I see me and you are in the same boat." The man whispered to Thomas "I will tell you but only because we are both enemies of the king." The man lead Thomas away from the counter towards the back of the store as he said "I was summoned here by that king and he wanted me to build him machines of mass destruction, after I refused to build them he decided that if I wouldn't build the machines he'd kill me for treason." The man began to walk away as he said "I know it sounds ridiculous doesn't it." Thomas stared at him as he said "So your just like Toby." The man glanced at Thomas as he asked "The king has already summoned others?" Thomas shrugged as he said "You and Toby are the only ones I know about." The man walked towards Thomas as he said "I am Mason the so called genius of my company." Thomas stared at him as he asked "So your really smart?" Mason nodded as he said "I was living a great life full of inventions back in my old world." Thomas glanced around as he asked "But can't you learn and invent more things here?" Mason nodded as he said "I'd like to invent things that help people not harm them." Thomas shrugged as he said "Guess me and you are pretty alike." Mason stared at Thomas as he said "I take that as an insult." Thomas stared at him as he said "We both dislike the king." Mason stood up as he said "Now if you'll excuse me I'm in search of some books for my research." Thomas followed him as he asked "When were you brought here?" The man glanced at Thomas as he said "I'll just give you your answers now so you'll leave me alone, I was brought here more then a week ago when I arrived I already knew this language and no I won't help you create a weapon." Thomas stared at him as he said "I don't want a weapon I just wanted to ask if you were able to read the language." Mason glared at Thomas as he said "A man your age can't read?" Thomas stared at him with a blank stare as he said "I don't have any memories and woke up here, I learned the langue after a while but I still can't read." The man grabbed three books and walked to the counter as he said "I was already able to read when I arrived here." The man behind the counter stared at the books as he asked "Is this all?" Mason nodded as the man said "That'll be three silver." Mason began to search through his pockets as he muttered "I should have the money somewhere." Thomas set down three silvers as he walked out the door and said "Consider it payment for your time." Mason watched as Thomas walked out of sight as he mumbled "This world may be better off if the king was overthrown." Mason walked out of the store with his books as he said "I can't believe the king would make someone like him wanted." Thomas walked into a tavern and stared at a quest board as he mumbled "I can speak that same language as Toby but he was summoned here and can most likely read." Thomas sighed as he mumbled "Guess I wasn't summoned here." Thomas activated speak in tongues as he stared at the quest board and mumbled "I've been going through a lot of money lately." Thomas didn't bother looking at the requirements for the quest as he grabbed the one worth the most money and walked over to the counter as he set it down and said "I'll take this one." The lady behind the counter stared at the quest and asked "Are you sure you want to take on our most dangerous quest?" Before Thomas could respond he felt a hand on his shoulder. Thomas stood their as he heard a familiar voice ask "Mind if I tag along?" Thomas turned around and seen Lily standing their by herself as he asked "Weren't you with the others?" Lily rubbed her head as she said "They all took on a quest that required three people and asked me to wait here for them." Thomas shrugged as he turned around to the lady and said "We'll be taking on the quest." The lady stared at Lily as she asked "Is it really smart to take a child with you?" Thomas shrugged as he opened the cloak and tugged on his shirts collar exposing the slave seal as he said "I don't got much of a choice." The lady glanced at Lily as she said "I see so she owns you?" Thomas nodded as he said "We may not look like much but we should be able to handle this." The lady glanced at the quest and asked "Are you two really strong enough to slay an ent?" Thomas stared at her with confusion as he asked "What's an ent?" She stared at Thomas as she asked "Where you about to take on a quest without knowing what it was?" Lily glanced at Thomas and said "An ent is a living tree, although under normal circumstances their peaceful creature who live in forests." The lady nodded as she said "You seem to be a very smart young lady." Thomas glanced at Lily as he said "I'm able to use my magic again so why don't we just burn it to the ground." The lady stared at Thomas as she said "It's clear to me that your not the smartest person, but you should know that normal fire attacks won't work and it'll probably require at least a tier two fire spell to burn it." Thomas sighed as he mumbled "Everyone is just calling me dumb today." Lily grabbed the quest as she said "We're gonna slay it!"
