Chapter 54 - Chapter 54

That can't be good.

I tried getting off the bed as quietly as I can, trying not to wake up Hermon. Like I said I was trying, but his arm and leg were literally on top of my body.

So much for the drama last night. How did he even get past the pillows he put up before we slept? They were no use at all.

I slowly picked up his arm by the sleeve, only to get startled by a loud snort from him. I accidentally dropped his arm around my neck area. Big mistake! He squeezed me tight around my neck, making me choke while grabbing onto his arm. He finally stopped squeezing the life out of me after a bit. I thought about biting his arm for a second before he released me.

I swear there was nothing princely about him when he sleeps, girls. So you can stop these fantasies. I literally experienced this first-hand, so take this advice.

Once I checked whether he was asleep, I put his arm onto the other side of the bed. I did the same thing with his leg and quickly got off. I got off the bed and walked towards the door.

"What are you doing?"

I froze along with Ari, who was quietly following me. Ari slowly turned her head towards me and I looked back at her.

'Ari, look back.'

'Why can't baba do it?'

'Because I am your baba.'

'That is just an excuse.'

We both jumped as we heard a loud snore. I let out the breath that I was subconsciously holding in.

'Baba, he is asleep.'

'I know.'

I opened the door and slowly closed it behind once Ari got out.

'Ari, smell him out.'

Ari immediately started sniffing the air and started walking. I walked behind her. I was good at concealing my presence. Ari finally led us to the dad's office. I put my ear against the door to see if I could hear anything. It took a while until I heard the shuffling of papers. I guess they were probably here for the plans. I didn't know any other reason for them to break into dad's office.

'Ari, make me invisible.'

As soon as Ari leaped onto my shoulder, I looked under the door to see if there were any lights on before I knocked on the door. There were none so I knocked. The shuffling of the papers stopped. The door was locked when I tried to turn it. I guess I have to use force, but before I did the door opened by itself. Was he waiting for me so he could jump me? I waited until the person personally came to the door and looked to see if there was anyone. I touched the door frame as I concentrated on the wood of the door and used a spell to grow tree branches to seize him, but I missed. The person jumped back into the room as soon as the spell was triggered and took a defensive position. He was pretty fast. I walked in and walked around him.

"Whose there?" Did he really ask that in a house he didn't belong to?

"Shouldn't I be asking that?" The intruder reacted to the sound and spun around to face my direction. He launched a water spell that looked like blades in my direction. I moved out of the way but accidentally knocked on the table. The intruder sent another attack. I jumped on the table and leaped over him. His focus was still on the previous spot. I knew he was listening since he was so quiet. I sent a concentrated fireball spell towards him.

He reacted in time before it fit him. I shouldn't have chosen fire. As soon as he dodged it, the fire hit the bookshelf. The fire spread pretty quickly. I used a water spell to dampen the bookcase, so the fire will kind of subside. The intruder chose this time to locate me and come in with a kick. I blocked it, but my strength wasn't enough. I was sent flying towards a wall. I twisted around and landed on my legs, but I was still being thrown back. I put all my weight on my legs, scraping it against the floor. It wasn't enough so I hit the wall with less force, so it wasn't that bad.

'Baba, are you alright?'

'Yeah, I'm fine.'

I leaped out of the way as the intruder came in for a punch. I sent a small pointed ice crystal his way, using wind as its propulsion in the air. The intruder caught the crystal with his hand and sent it back towards my way.

He used it as a distraction and ran for the window, but I blocked the window with earth magic before he got out. The intruder held out a hand and water started forming in his hand. I guess earth wasn't going to work on him, but I couldn't use fire in this small space. So I might as well use water too. I leaped in front of him and summoned water to grab him. He was struggling and I struggled as I tightened my grip with the water.

I lunged softly at him without making a sound. I wrapped lightning and fire around my arm, swirling it alternatively. I made a small clear spot, right where his heart. I got ready to attack him when I heard Ari growl.

'Baba, stop.'

I stopped right before the intruder, only inches away. I could have killed him already.

'What is it?'

'He is already dead.' I looked at the man. He was still standing, so how could he be dead?

'What do you mean?'

'I sense dark magic here. Baba, step away from him.'

Right when I was about to question here. A red magic circle appeared on the floor, right under us. It was glowing brightly around both of us. I heard footsteps and talking from a distance. They must have woke up from all the sound.

'Get out of the circle! Now!'
