Hermon was still beside me, so I was basically handicapped at this point. I can defeat them, even though they were probably were levels higher than me. What could I do in this situation?
Sweat dripped down the side of my face as I was thinking. Hermon gripped my hand harder, which meant he was starting to panic. I needed time to think. What would I personally do right now?
Run!
I pulled Hermon back in the direction of the carriages. This wasn't a retreat or anything. It was a tactical return. We proceeded as we first planned, which was to get Hermon to the carriage.
'Baba, do you want me to stall them?'
'No, at least not right now. I need you to keep us invisible.'
'Isn't it best that we break off the illusion? Arthur and the man next to him can protect us.'
'They have a lot on their hands already. It might be too much for them to protect us and the carriage.'
As we ran, Hermon started breathing heavily. His hands were getting slippery from both of our sweaty hands. I had to pull him along a bit forcibly. I was fine with all this running since I train all day, but that wasn't probably the same with Hermon.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. It's been three weeks since I have trained, so that must be why I am so out of shape." Hermon starting panting a bit.
"We are almost there, so hang on a bit." I looked back past Hermon. I stopped to give Hermon a small breather. I stomped on the ground while channeling my mana to my feet. I needed to create some time so I forged a curved wall right in front of the assassins.
I pulled Hermon's hand and proceeded towards our destination. Why the hell were they this far away or was it that we were small?
When we were almost there, Hermon tripped and fell. I made sure to follow down and knelt next to him, so our hands wouldn't break apart. Our whole plan would break apart if he was revealed right now.
The assassins had already broken through the earth barrier. I grabbed him by his arm and forced him up, just for him to get back down. Hermon put a hand on his ankle. He must have sprained it during the trip. Damn it!
I summoned two thick walls as I did before.
"Did you sprain it?"
"I think so."
I knelt down with my back facing towards him. We needed to get out of here.
"Get on."
"No."
"Get on or I will carry you princess style."
"You wouldn't?" I got up. "Okay, okay, I will get on."
As soon as Hermon got on my back, I sprinted towards the barrier that was surrounding the carriage. The closer I got, the more I got pushed back. Hermon became heavier and heavier, the closer I got to the barrier. My hair was going everywhere and pieces of wind were strong enough to cut part of my cloth and skin.
Once we reached the wind barrier, I momentarily stopped and put a hand on the barrier. I winced as I felt a cut on my hand. I closed my eyes and made a small arch-shaped door with the earth. It collapsed as soon as we got in. Seeing how easy, we got into this barrier. This was not enough to keep them out.
My main objective, for now, was Hermon's safety.
'Ari, stop the illusion.'
'Okay baba.'
I opened the door of the carriage to be met with a pan. Wait, a pan? I quickly dodged out of the way. It was mom. She had her eyes shut as she kept swinging it crazily around. I chuckled as I saw her, trying to protect everyone.
"Mom, it's me." Mom opened her eyes from the sound of my voice and dropped the pan. It took her a moment to get together the situation. Sheran to me. She collapsed as she hugged me. I gently patted her back.
"I tried to come for you, but they held me back. Are you okay?" She pulled me out of the hug and examined me. "We have to get inside the carriage. It's safe. Arthur and Lord Evander are protecting us."
"Yeah, I saw them. Right now, our main priority is helping Prince Hermon safe. Hermon sprained his ankle a few minutes ago." Mom nodded in agreement and understanding. She led both of us towards the carriage. Everyone was in there. A little too cramped, but safe. I stopped following her once we reached the carriage. As both of them got in, I looked at Fawn. "May I use your sword?"
Fawn eyes widened as mom whipped her head around. Fawn knew where I was going with this.
"You are not going anywhere." She glared at me.
"I'm sorry but I need to go. They need help and there are around seven or eight of them."
"Alex, you will not be a help. You are nothing but a child."
"Then, what about Arthur?"
"He was trained by your father himself. I have seen him in battle too, but you are too young. I won't let the same thing happen again from back in the dungeon."
Her last few words softened as she looked at the floor.
"Mom, I have to go." I turned to Fawn, hoping he would get the message. Fawn looked at mom, then me. I was practically begging him with my eyes. Fawn sighed and threw his sword towards me. "I'm sorry, but you have to trust me. I am doing this because I know I could help."
Mom's expression grew soft at first, but then she shook it off as she heard noises from the other side of the wind barrier. They were here.
As mom attempted to get out, I slammed the door shut with wind magic and made a small sphere of wind magic around it. I inhaled and lifted up the carriage so that it was floating in midair. I brought it up higher until it was a safe distance from the ground. I even had to take it out of the protective wind barrier.
There was a huge hole in the ground where the carriage was.
'Ari, you know what to do.'
