I felt a chill running through my spine. So this was black magic. The air felt stuffy and suffocating. It was hard to breathe. What was wrong with the air? I heard Ari breathing hard. I felt sweat dripping down my face. I jumped out of the circle as soon as Ari nudged me out of my thoughts. This caster was stronger than me. I could tell from his magic. There were these opinions feeling from it. I didn't feel oppressed or anything. It was fear either. I never felt this kind of chill in my past life. I glanced at the corpse. Was he really dead? How did he even suddenly dead? I didn't do anything yet. I had so many questions that I wanted answers to, but it wasn't like the corpse could talk.
I watched as the man's hair started turning gray and his skin all wrinkly. Was the corpse aging in some sort of way? I stepped closer to the circle. Ari's growl grew louder as I stood at the edge of the circle. I examined the body closely.
A strong gust of wind suddenly blew around the room, slamming the door shut. I couldn't hear anything because of the wind. The only thing I could hear was the 'pssh' sound. I really didn't know how to describe it. I looked at the corpse before I started walking towards the door.
"You are leaving already?" I turned to the corpse, wide-eyed. Did it just talk? I never heard of a talking corpse, but then again this was still a new world to me. I looked up at the corpse.
The damn corpse was looking at me. His skin was partially gone from the right side of his face. Pieces of skin were fluttering away from his face. His lips were shriveled up, so his teeth can be seen clearly. His eye sockets were partially visible, so it looked like it was going to pop out at any minute. The corpse slowly turned his body to me but stood where he was. The corpse smiled at me. I am not going to lie but it wasn't really that scary to me.
"You don't want me too?" I put a hand in my pocket and faced the corpse. I could feel Ari, shivering on my shoulder. I guess she was scared. I slowly patted Ari's head until she stopped shaking.
"Oh, how amusing? A child." He was still looking at me with those half-flat eyes. I heard pounding and yelling from the door. "Why don't show yourself or are you too scared? " I wasn't going to fall for his taunts. What did he think I was? A seven-year-old.
Fine. I am a seven-year-old, but not my mind.
"I don't feel like it. Just asking, but aren't you dead?" I looked at the corpse from head to toes. His body was decaying little by little. It was kind of satisfying his body slowly erode away. It was also a kind of entertainment in a way. Even if it was satisfying, you have no idea how bad it smells. It smelled like a rotten corpse.
"You are right. This man is dead. I am using his body to talk to you though. This body might not last much longer." The corpse looked at his hand, which almost just bones. "I sensed a huge magic power coming from you. Who knew it was a child?" The last sentence was a low whisper, but I barely heard it.
"Oh."
"Why don't you come with me? Join me."
"Why should I?"
"This world is too corrupt. I plan on starting everything from the beginning." The corpse extended out his hand towards me. Ari was growling softly. "My king will reward you greatly."
"I'm good." I extended my right arm and shot ice crystals at him. Could I kill someone if he is already dead?
I guess not. The corpse laughed at my fail attempt. The corpse took a step forward, but it didn't cover much distance. I don't think hale can step outside of the magic circle since it is the spell that is allowing him to talk to me.
"Since we met, why don't you tell me your name?"
"Then tell me yours." The corpse went silent and stared out the window before looking back at me.
"Alfredon. Now yours."
"Draco E. Revereon." It was the only fake name I could think of at that time. I wasn't going to say my name to a dead person. I leaned against the table behind me. I was fairly good at lying since that was one of my best skills when I was an emperor. I always knew if someone was lying to me too.
"Oh, why are you in this house?"
"I came to steal something from the general."
"At such a young age?" I could almost imagine him raising an eyebrow if he had one. "I will give you time to think about the decision, Alexander." How did he know my name?
"You must be thinking how I know your name?" I smirked.
"Why don't you tell me since you already know?"
"I can sense you mana-beast beside you and the only one who has a mana-beast is the second son of General Jake."
"How are you able to see us since you don't have eyes anymore?" I looked right into his dark and empty sockets. I am pretty sure eyes are the only way you could see someone unless you use Ki. Ki was not a concept in the world apparently.
"I can sense your mana, along with that mana-beast on your shoulder."
"Sensing mana?"
"Humans can learn it, but they never even try to do something new." The skeleton crossed his arms. His legs were gone, so his upper skeleton parts were floating. "Since they are too afraid to do anything."
"Human? What race are you?" The skeleton let out a deep chuckle.
"You will find out sooner or later, Alexander."
Those were the last few words were quiet before the corpse fully went away, along with the magic circle.
The door opened to see dad and a couple of guards at the door. I went out of the door as soon as they got inside. I didn't want dad sensing me again. I went back to my room and slowly open the door, making it creak a little. I slipped inside. I turned around and silently closed the door.
"Where did you go?" I jumped at first, then realized he was probably sleep talking again. I swear he should stop doing that.
I turned around, only to see Hermon sitting on the bed and staring at me.
