Chapter 37 - Chapter 37

The ant's leg stabbed right into my stomach. My eyes went blind for a second from the pain. I felt something wet where the ant stabbed me. I looked down to see blood, starting to pour out. Once I regained my vision, I saw Ari jump and bite the Ant's leg. It didn't really do anything. I saw a light blue light through her nostril and her mouth.

I wonder what type of powers she has and what that blue glow was? She was growling and snarling, even though her mouth was filled with the ant's leg. Her eyes had turned into a darker shade of blue. It looked like it was glowing. The golden marks all over her body were glowing brightly. I wonder if she still shows her actual form or she still was using the illusion spell. I wonder what type of magic that Ari was using. I don't know what I am thinking about anymore.

I snapped out of my thoughts. I needed to stop her before everyone's doubts comes to light. I reached out toward's Ari, but my hand couldn't reach her. It was enough to grab her attention. She didn't look like the innocent Ari like I knew before. Her eyes were filled for bloodlust and rage. It even scared me a bit. I opened to speak but nothing came out except for a gasp. Her eyes softened as she heard me gasp. Why can't I speak? So I reached out mentally.

'Ari, no!'

'Why, baba?' Her eyes softened even more. I could tell that she was really worried about me. Her eyes started to tear up a little.

'They can't find out what you are. They shouldn't know.'

'I don't care. I need to save you, please baba.'

'Ari, please listen to me. I will be fine, and I am strong. You know that.'

Ari let out a whimper, but she still held onto its leg. The ant took out its leg, making me groan in pain. I put a hand over my wound and started to apply pressure to it. From the corner of my eye, I saw dad coming in with his sword. He jumped and held the sword above his head to slice of the ant's head. Ari chomped off the ant's leg in half. Its body went limp as soon as the head fell off. I was surprised that there was no blood. I could feel some of my mana coming back to me, but I still felt so weak. I looked down at my shirt to see my blood had spread even more.

Dad and Ari quickly came to me with worried faces. I gave them a weak smile that didn't last long. I took a breath and tried to not think about the pain. Dad slowly picked me, trying to avoid my wounded area.

"We need to get out. Alex is injured badly." I looked back at the group. They were doing their best to defend themselves and us. "Make a pathway to the entrance."

I saw Ari hanging off of Dad's shoulder, not taking her eyes off of me.

'It's okay.'

'Baba, please don't die. I love you so much.' I felt a small smile forming on my lips. That also made my pain lessen up a bit.

'Nothing is going to happen.' Ari still looked worried even though I said so many times that I would be fine. I was kind of happy that Ari was this worried for me. I winced as Dad started walking, making my wound move. Aston and Diana went to the front and the rest went to the back. Aston and Diana started to make way towards the entrance. Anna, Jeremy and Galtero defended us from the back.

I was starting to feel cold. My hand that was on the wound was the only part of me that was still warm. I started shivering and was starting to feel drowsy.

"Alex, you have to keep yourself awake. I know its hard, but you have too." Dad looked towards Aston and Diana. "Guys, faster. Faster!"

'Baba, talk to me.'

'I'm still here, Ari.'

'What can I do to help?'

'Unless you know healing magic like mom, I'm afraid you can't do anything.'

'I am so useless, even though I am a dragon.'

'You are not useless, Ari. You were very useful. You became my brother because you were useful.'

'Really?' I nodded. I licked my lips since they were starting to get dry.

Just how far did we walk, I looked towards the entrance. It was so close. The light entered my eyes, but it was all over the place. Everything was out of place.

My head started to spin. Must have been because I lost too much blood. I looked back on my wound. I tried to focus my eyes since they were getting fuzzy. It was no use. My eyesight was getting blurrier. Eventually, it got dark.

Am I really going to die again?
