Chapter 8 - First quest: Lost and Lead

After a day of walking from the central town, Aurinburg, Adellene and Darius finally reached their destination. A hamlet found at the north-eastern part of the Alpine kingdom, Acorn village. This was just a little settlement of farmers and some fishermen.

*meeeeehh*!!!

"Ummm excuse me sir? Where can we find the chief's house here in this village."

Adellene went to a fisherman's stand to ask question. It was the only stand they saw within the center of the town.

"Hello there young girl. If you are looking for the chief, he lives on that hut right over there. It's the only hut that is hanging over the tree. Also may I interest you with some cod and salmon? Their fresh from the catch!"

Adellene backs up a little step and nervously smile to the old fisherman. She had no intention whatsoever about buying any fish.

"Excuse me old man. We are not interested in buying the fish. Please don't force her to buy it."

"Ehhh!?! Sorry, I'm so sorry. I won't force it anymore..."

Darius, as cold as always, walked in and stopped him from forcing Adellene. Although she was saved from the fisherman, she came close to the saddened fisherman and talked to him.

*meeehhh*! *meeeeh*!

"Hmmm don't mind my ally here sir. I'll take the two salmons you have! Hehe~ although these are the only amount I have to pay you..."

The fisherman's started to become teary and he quickly held Adellene's hands.

"Ahh~wahhh! You are a life saver young girl! Those are more than enough. Here take these and also take this. That is one of my fishing rods, it's a durable one so please take good care of it."

"Oh haha! Thanks for this sir. Oh we must go now, see you later I guess."

*meeeh*!!!

"Farewell and safe travels young girl. Thank you again! Wait, that lamb was from... Nevermind."

Both Adellene and Darius walked away from the old man and now. Although silent as he has always been, Adellene noticed Darius was frowning, rather he is irritated to what has happened.

"Darius? Are you okay?"

"No."

"Okay if it's all about the gold that I spent, I'm gonna pay you after this quest."

"You're too kind. I hate it."

"Oh is that it? Ohh... You're not jealous are y~"

"No. Also we are here."

"Hey atleast let me finish talking. Hmmp! You're always like this!"

*Knock* *knock*

They waited for a bit to have any response upon knocking on the door. Both of them thought there were no person, chief or anyone inside the hut right now. They both turn back and then suddenly a call resonated.

" Are you the adventurers sent by Aurinburg? If so, turn around and leave. No one will be able to solve that quest."

Adellene suddenly froze and quickly went back to talk to the chief.

"We walked a day and a half to find the chief, to get information about the quest and now you are turning us away?! What the hell are you do~"

"Hello sir. Yes we are the adventurers sent by Aurinburg. We would like to get information about the quest from you."

Raging as she was, she came in shouting but Darius walked in and talked to the chieftain formally.

"Many adventures came and took information from me already. All of them went to the place but never came back. If you are eager to die, then so be it."

"Oh..."

Adellene went silent and just stood there.

"Yes we are here for the quest."

"Hays... Well then come in both of you and we'll talk inside."

Both were invited to come in and sit down. They were served with tea and a little food by the chief. The little lamb was given a little amount of hay straw.

"So you found Wulf, man I miss this little idiot."

"Oh you own this lamb sir?"

"Oh no no. It's from my daughter who went missing.... It's ~ it's been two weeks already. I don't expect~ her to... *sniff* *sniff*"

"Ehhh sir it's okay if you are not going to talk about that!"

"Oh its okay. I just don't think she could still be alive~"

"No! She is still somewhere right now. We just don't know where she is. Just have a little hope sir!"

"Adellene, stop. Even I think she~"

"No she is alive!"

*meeeehhh*!!!

The chief's eye gave a gleam of hope. He then stood up and gave them a map. He then took Wulf the lamb and put it inside it's pen.

"Well then if you really think she is alive. Please bring her back. She was last found walking near to the cave found here. It's right beside the river bank where we usually fish."

A little pause came in the conversation. Later on the chief went down and bowed down to ask for their help.

"Please, if you really do think she's alive... Please! Please help my daughter!!!"

*sobbing* *waaaaahh*!!!

"We will bring back your daughter. Now stand up and stop crying."

"Hey Darius! The man cried because of her daughter. At least be sensitive of this matter."

"Nothing gets solved if you keep crying."

The chief stood up and gave a big sigh. No doubt that he became hopeful of the current situation about his missing daughter.

"You're right young adventurer, nothing gets solved when a man keeps on crying. I'll do my duties here on this hamlet. Although there is no assurance at all, I will hold unto your words."

Darius turn back and went to the door. He then raised his hand and give the chief a sign of fist.

"I will bring back your daughter no matter what."
