After the defeat of the murloc, Darius fell down and came back to his normal state. He then rushed in and carried Adellene away from the moisty grounds of the water cavern. He checked for her vitals and after knowing she'll just wake up anytime soon, he then searched for the chief's daughter.
~Hmmm, where could you be?~
"Grnnn~..."
He then heard a grunt behind the walls. He then started tapping the walls of the cavern and found a hallow one. It was a boulder with mud on its side to hide the gap. The grunts came from her, chained on wooden rack, beaten up and wounded. He broke her out of the shackles and carried her to where Adellene was.
"Hey, Adellene wake up."
*mmmmhhhmm*~
"Whe~wait where are we? Wait wait wait did you, no did we die? Why are we still in this dark pl~?"
*haaaay*~
"You're still alive. Now stand up and heal her first. Take this, it's a mana flask."
"Wait you had this with you???"
"Just for assurance, although I forced my way through."
~hmmp! You even made me get worked up!~
She turned her back at him and pouted. After a few moments of healing her they both then went out of the cave and took shelter on a nearby stone overhang.
"It really is pouring down... Hey Darius, do you think~"
"If you're asking about that, well I can't tell but if you are going to ask about her making out alive out here? Then yes she will live."
. . .
There was an utter silence that came after the gloomy conversation. Both just looked at the dripping water above their temporary shelter. Crackling of the burnt wood, water puddles splashing, sudden thunder roars and the pops of each droplet. It was just peaceful sound of a thunderstorm. Suddenly they heard some rustling over the bushes.
*Oink* *Oooink* ! ! !
It was a trapped forest boar. The trap must've been placed by the goblins to serve as their food. Darius then came close to it and then~
"Hey... Darius are you gonna~?"
"Yes, we need it to pass for the night. If you don't want to, I'll go get some herbs and edible mushrooms in the forest."
"No no, it's just that the boar. You know~. . ."
"Do you wanna survive without eating or not?"
"Hmmm well I guess I ~"
! ! !
"Waaaaahhhh!!! Die you mongrel!!!"
Both Darius and Adellene jump out of the way with someone charging in with a furious shout. It was the chief's daughter holding a large stone and a mighty smash from it hit the head of the boar. It did not move in inch after it took the fatal blow.
"Filthy bastards... I will kill all of you!!!"
"Hey! Hey! Stop!!! You're fine no~"
Adellene took a blow on her face as she tried to grab the raging girl. Darius then swept her legs and took the large stone of her grip.
"Adelle! Calming magic now!!!"
~Oh Theia mother of heaven and light. I heed thy call to bestow peace and serenity over her mind. Calming Light!!!~
A blinding light was brought upon and it lit up the area drying up most of the moist of the leaves surrounding them.
"That's... the last magic I have but that should do it. Wha-woah I'm~"
"Yeah you're dizzy. Out of magic for sure. I'll carry both of you to the campfire. Just grab on my back."
She then climb over Darius's back and lay down her weight on him. Suprisingly enough, with the almost scrawny look of him, he has a strength to carry both women in one go. After he took them to the campfire, he then came back to the dead boar and took its body.
"Hmmm..."
"Hey you're finally awake. Here, you can eat on your own right?"
"What's this?"
~sniiff~ ~sniff~ "Woah this smells good. You took herbs and other spices on your own. You really can become a good adventurer."
The campfire had chunk of meat sliced up and a quick-mud pot that was made for stewing.
"Wait where did you~"
"The pot? I know how to make ones quickly especially with this fire present here."
"Well no more questions, I'm just gonna eat."
Both of them started eating then they heard a grunt from the girl. She started to get up and look over them.
"Who are you? Wait why am I here?"
"Well, we were tasked to purge the problem of your village."
"Hamlet~"
"Okay I get that it's a hamlet. My point is we got to recover you either dead or alive from the monster's grip. You were held captive by a mu~"
"Arggh! Please, don't make me remember that demon!"
"Okay. Although everything is fine now. Darius took care of that ~ demon..."
Darius stood up and gave her a wooden bowl of stew.
"Here, you better warm up and eat."
"Wahhh! Darius you're slowly becoming human!"
"Shut up idiot or you'll end up with the others."
"Okay okay I was just joking."
*giggle* . . .
The girl let out a small giggle with what the conversation turned into.
"I'm glad that made you laugh. Dig in, Darius made it even more delicious."
The three of them started eating up all the food that was in front of them. The fire started crackling again, the wind blowing and made the trees dance across the dark forest. It was just calm rain that took over the noise.
"You know, I never really did expect to survive from the horrors I was in. I did not know that I will be held as a captive of some weird little green humanoids. When I was there, I just waited and waited for my time to come. I don't care if they started chopping off my legs or my arms. I just wanted to die. Well I'm glad I got another shot of living my simple life I guess."
"Hmm~"
"Hey Darius! At least give out some words and not just grunts and humms."
"It would be quite late for this but, I am Echiel Oak. A daughter of Chief Eikollon Oak."
"Oh, I am Adellene Turien, a priestess of the Church of Olympia."
Both of them slowly turned their heads to Darius and waited for his response. Adellene had her grin on her face as she saw him starting to get irritated of the situation he was in.
"Alright, I'm Darius Bane... of Gottenbron Farm."
As Darius stopped talking, there was a little yes that was blurted out by Adellene knowing she can force him to start introducing to other people. With a grin on her face she then started talking about how she met Darius and why she end up doing the quest. Few topics have gone by and they decided to finish their talks and started preparing to rest.
"Darius aren't you going to sleep?"
"Idiot, if I sleep who else would be the look out. I can't be just lay down and lower our guard. We are still in the wild."
"Oh right! Totally forgot hehe~"
"Now go rest, you need to get your magics ready for tomorrow. We don't know what we will encounter tomorrow."
The night went silent again as the two girls slept while Darius sat down at the mouth of their camp, cleaning his own gear.
