After leaving the hamlet, both Adellene and Darius trek the dirt path they have used before. It was a long walk but it was just starting to become common for the two.
"Hey Darius, you never said you knew magic."
"Is it necessary?"
"Yes! We almost died from that damned frog-creature~"
"Murloc."
"Alright alright, murloc. "
"I thought you can feel my mana whenever you're near me."
"I may be a priestess but I'm no sage or some master wizard that can feel your magic out of nowhere!"
"Sorry."
"You should be~ wait why are you saying sorry? You're sick are you? Or some curse got in your head? I'm a little bit scared..."
"I apologize if I need to."
As Darius spoke under his breath, Adellene then went on his front and face him with her irritated face. She then put her hand over his forehead.
"You're not sick either, you must be having some stomach ache~"
"I am fine."
"Hmmm~ it's not normal hearing that from you though."
"If that's the case I wo~"
"It sounds like you're becoming a human for a moment."
Adellene smiled at him and giggled for a moment. Darius took a step back as he did not expect that kind of feeling from seeing someone smile. That caught him off guard and now he just went on walking without talking to her.
"Hey Darius! Now you're back with that attitude again! Heeeeyy! Wait up will you?!"
They now kept walking on the dirt path. They are now starting to see the guard tower of Aurinburg. Both of them were just walking quietly through the forest and they finally found the plains that will lead them to the town, but they found the noble group that Adellene hated.
"Oh if it isn't the so called heroes of the slumps! Ha ha ha ha!"
"Don't look at them, you're gonna catch their filth!"
"Oh please, my father would not allow such lowly creatures into the guild anyway."
Adellene, with her hands clenched into fists, started to walk towards them. With her anger of them being the spoon-fed idiots who can do anything with their wealth, she never would have thought of using violence against them.
"Don't."
But then Darius suddenly went and block her from going to their group. He knew this would happen if they met the group again someday and he did not see that the day would be very soon.
"But they're so annoying. I don't think what we did would change them anyway."
"Violence would be bad action for you here."
"But~"
"Don't mind them."
Both of them just went and walked past the group and did not answer back.
"What do think guys? The priestess is just a burden to the guy right? She could be of no use unless if she's a secret prosti~"
A sudden rush went to the noble who bad-mouthed Adellene. Just like a gust from a storm, it hit him in a blink of an eye. It was a punch on his stomach.
"Wha~what the?! Who did~"
"Speak anything about everything. Say anything bad about Adellene, this hand wont just hit your gut. It might as well remove your head from this body."
Everyone was in shock. Adellene came rushing over Darius and grabbed him away from the fight. The noble man who fell on the ground was shaking out of fear from what he saw. It was nothing from what he saw over his lifetime.
"I thought violence is not answer! What the hell are you doing back there?!"
"Violence is not for you."
"Yes! And what did you~"
"But it is for me."
"Eh? YOU REALLY ARE STUPID FROM THE CORE ARE YOU?!"
"Just shut it and follow me to the guild hall."
Both of them continued walking till they reached the gates.
"Hey Darius! Welcome back! Glad you're still alive."
It was from a guard from the tower. It was the newcomer who got scared of Darius. Darius just gave the guy a fine leather from his pack.
"Here, take it to the old man and tell him I'll be taking it back once I come back from the guild hall."
"Ah..."
Both of them went ahead to the guild hall and went inside the room where their attendant told them to wait whenever they are back.
*ring*
Darius pressed the bell. It was just silence after the bell rang but few minutes passed they both heard footsteps rushing towards their room.
"You, both of you survived? Oh~ yes..."
The attendee went and hugged both of them. Adellene smiled and hugged her but Darius had his normal annoyed expression on his face.
*sniff* *sniff*
"I'm really happy both of you survived! I have met a lot of people who did not come back because of that quest for a week now..."
"Y-yeah... But hey, we're here so it's all good right?"
"Excuse me, but can you please stop hugging me?"
"Oh sorry... That was an inappropriate behaviour of mine, sorry. Alright I have to check your quest form and the letter of recommendation from the Village chief."
Darius handed the papers over to her and also gave a piece of scale from the murloc.
"Here, take this as well. Its a hardened scale from the murloc that we fought."
"Why are you giving this to me?"
"A friend of mine said that it's a good way to show that we have a proof of finishing the quest."
"Oh~ well then I'll take this as a proof of you killing the beast."
The door closed and both of them are left sitting on the couch. After a minute of silence, Adellene faced Darius with her angered face.
"That was really rude of you! For the love of God please~ can you at least be a normal person when facing people. She was really worried but all you did was push her and did that."
"Hmmm~"
"I swear, one more grunt and I'll PUNCH YOU SO HARD! Hmmp!"
"Okay..."
Darius then somehow laughed as he saw the thin arm and the small fist of Adellene in front of him.
"You really think I'm joking???"
*swoop* *thud*
Adellene then punched Darius on his shoulder but she just got blocked by Darius.
"Hey! Let go of my hand!"
"Alright, but promise me not to punch me unless needed."
"Why would I promise you that?!"
"Because you'll just hurt your hand. Do you really think this small fist will hurt me?"
"You~"
Adellene went steaming because of anger and later had tears on her eyes because of being so annoyed. She even looked at her fist and a big disappointment came to her and she became even more gloomy. Darius then grabbed her hand.
"You should take care of yourself and not hurt it. You're lucky you still have no scars."
"What do you mean by sca~"
After their little fight, the attendee came back and sat infront of them. She then gave both of them cards.
"These cards are the proof of you both having to be tested as beginners of this guild. Both of you will be asked whether you will both stay in a party after you finished the first quest which was the one you both took."
"Test? Wait we are going to be tested after that quest?"
"Yes, either both of you together or not. It's up for you to choose whether you will stay in a party."
Darius took the card and looked at it. Adellene looked at her card as well and she felt something that she might not be helpful to Darius at all. She felt even more gloomy.
"You know... I think this will be my la~"
"She's coming with me as my priestess. When is the test?"
The attendee look at the two of them and gave a wide smile.
"I'm glad that both of you will be in a party together. The test will be held as a party fighting the other party. The party will be judged by the high ranked adventurers. After the judging of the parties, the one with the lowest score will be removed. It will be held two days from now. Be sure to practice."
"Okay. Thank you for your information, we will go now."
Both of them bowed down and went ahead the attendee.
"Adellene, go to your place and rest. I'll be visiting Rain. I need to talk to him."
"Eh?! Let me go with you."
"It's something that only me and Rain need to know."
"I know that it's like that, but can I just go with you?"
"Hays... Alright, just stay outside the room while we talk. And do not dare to listen to what we are going to talk about."
"Okay okay."
Darius led the way as usual while Adellene was just tailing his path while greeting the townsfolk with her smile.
