Chapter 6 - First Quest : The preparation

After the test quest was given to the both of them, they went to the barracks and straight away went to meet Rain to ask for equipments or information about quests.

"Hey, old man you there?"

"Darius! Ho ho, my my why are you here?"

"We're here to ask for light armor for this girl. Also if you have any wooden staff there let her have it."

"Hey slow down. We are not the shopkeeper or any blacksmith. We are the Aurinburg Corps. Although I do think we have a chainmail here for miss Adellene. Don't ask us for some magic staff or wizardry business because we dont have any."

"Hmm. Hey, get changed and use this chainmail."

Darius tossed the chainmail to Adellene and it hit her head, some how she caught it.

"Hey! Why did you throw it?! You can just hand it over. And it's heavy for a fragile woman like me you know!"

"Please bear with Darius for a bit Miss Adellene. He is kind once you both get along with each other."

"Well at least you are kind to me Sir Rain. Oh also why did we come here in the first place?"

"Old man, enough with the chit-chat. This is our test for joining the guild. We would like some insights to what we could do for this."

Darius hand over the scroll to Rain and it said.

-Quest Examination: Town in Need-

The hamlet, named Acorn Village, located at the north-eastern of Alpine. It sits right beside Aurinburg. The villagers have reported a missing girl. The girl was last seen walking down the river. There have been sighting of small creatures lurking at night, stealing their livestock. The village leader set out an investigation and they a have heard weird things inside the nearby cave called the Prime Cave. We need a quick assistance on this matter. The rewards will be discussed on the leader's house.

-the messenger

Rain let out a sigh as he held his chin. Thinking what could possibly the problem, he was just looking down on the floor. Both Darius and Adellene was waiting for an information about the matter.

"You know, kid, Prime Cave is a narrow and a dark place to begin with. Some inexperienced adventurers have been reported missing after setting foot on that cave. I could imply that this can be a work of those filthy goblins. Hopefully they did not ea~"

Darius gave him a cold gaze and he stopped talking. It was a sign that he must not speak further of the matter.

"Even hurt her right now right Darius?"

"It could be."

"Hehe..." *sorry Darius, I almost slip my tongue.*

"You really do need an assistant for this travel. This is where you belong miss."

"So I will act as a rear support huh?"

"Well, you are a priestess of light. Trained by the holy maiden so you should have few magic spells right?"

"Well I do have a wisp magic and healing hand. I would definitely do my part for this."

"I'm glad you have Darius with you. I really have a bad ferling fir this quest landing on you. Well all is good, how about you both go to a blacksmith to buy your equipments! We really don't have any spare armor for you Darius so go check it out, here take this if you still won't be entertained by the shopkeeper."

Rain handed over a token to the blacksmith's armory. Although it was a light mood that was swirling around th room, Rain suddenly came close to Darius with a pair lowered eyes.

"Don't lose it there. You are working with someone this time."

Darius gave a glare back and said.

"I will hold it back till I can..."

After the short exchange. They both thanked Rain and went directly to the town's blacksmith. As they were passing by through the town, Adellene thought that this place is just wholesome on plain sight but corrupted people still lurk on these lands. That thought of her just gave herself a frightening chill. After a few houses they've passed by, the finally reached their destination.

"Iron~Clad, that's an odd name for a blacksmithing shop."

"Blacksmiths need not to put any fancy names here. This blacksmith is the only blacksmith that we have in this town anyway."

Adellene paused in thought and she suddenly replied.

"Ah! I got i~"

"Glad you did."

"Hey at least let me finish. You really are rude to others. I don't know what kindness does Rain think is."

"Hmmm..."

Darius knocked on the door slightly. In a brief moment, an old man's voice resonated.

"Who is it? Ah it's you again... I already tol~"

"I don't need anything. Here's a coupon and use it to make a staff suitable for her."

"Who is this?"

"Just some rando~"

"Hey sir! I am Adellene Turien. A trainee of the one and only holy maiden of the church of Olympia. Nice to meet you!"

"Hmmm you got yourself in a pinch young lady? Why are you with this jack-ass?"

"Hmmm? Jack-ass? Why wo~"

"Just finish your job and we'll get going..."

They all went quiet. A piercing gaze came from the blacksmith. He then asked some information from Adellene on what kind of staff should he make for her. Darius and Adellene waited for the staff to be crafted so they both sat on the bench. Later on, Adellene's interest peaked and she suddenly asked.

"Who is that guy? Are you both related to each other?"

"It's none of your business."

*cling* *cling*

The blacksmith brought the newly made staff. Its handle was made of iron-branch wood. The head of the staff held a metallic arc with golden chimes on its center.

"Here you go miss. You better take good care of this staff. This is the first one of its kind, never had to make a staff for a priestess. Also here give this to that guy. I saw his vambrace has a socket. It's a dark imbued gem that I have been holding for years."

"Woahh! This staff is amazing. Although it is a little bit heavy, I will get the hang of it. Don't worry I will take good care of it!"

In that little chat, Darius stood up and walked towards them.

"It's time to go. Thank you for fulfilling the request. Don't leave anything behind Adellene."

"Oh~ ummm hmm... Again thank you for this staff good sir. Bye!"

"Good luck on your travels miss."

After that, they went straight to the door but before they stepped outside, blacksmith called them.

"Hey stupid boy! You better protect that girl or else I'll be smelting your face off."

"I will sir."

Both of them started to head off to the location of their quest. A new journey for them awaits to sprout.
