I hurriedly took out the small egg that was in my inventory. All classes (except summoners) only have one companion slot. In my previous life my partner had been a Battlewolf. They were the strongest and most agile of the wolf species and coupled along with my explosive spells we had made a terrifying duo. "Oh Terry, i'll surely miss you" I silently thought. In order for me and the egg to become bound together, I slit my thumb with my [Rookie Sword] causing my blood to drop onto the egg. Once you choose your companion, you would no longer be able to null the contract and companions who die in battle respawn after 24 hours with a level reduction.
[Do you wish to form a contract with the companion
Yes/No]
I immediately clicked yes and the egg started to glow brightly. What materialised was a pure white foal with small wings attached to its back. A heavenly aura surrounded its body giving off a feeling as if an angel descended from the heavens.
[Name:????
Race: Pegasus
Skills:
Stomp---Stomps its hooves onto the down dealing 200% of the Companions physical strength as damage.
Cooldown: 2 Minutes
Suppression- Being of a higher race, all lower races will face a weakened status effect.
The higher the level of the opponent the less severe the effect.
Passive skill- No cool down
Flight- Lets caster fly. Current state of pegasus will barely allow it to fly over a human child. Level up for better effect.
etc.]
There were a bunch more skills that provide buffs and such so I was pleased. For now this mythical creature was too small to be called a mount so I needed to level it up in order for it to grow. One day this pegasus would large enough to carry dozens of people, though I doubt a being of such a noble race was going to allow anyone other than myself to ride it. Lower races were basically the lower lifeforms of this planet. Humans, Dwarves, Orcs and the like were considered 'lower' than higher tiered races such as Dragons, Phoenixes and Pegasuses. I decided upon naming the Pegasus 'Virgo' as it was a female. I then recalled my Companion and a tattoo of a pair of angelic wings appeared on the back of my left hand.
Now that I had a new companion it was time for me to head back out and level up. I immediately headed to the level 10-15 map [Salamanders Cave] while ignoring the gazes of the Players who watched a madman enter the cave alone. While in game guilds were not yet established until reaching level 50 most people would be in parties with a maximum number of 6 people so seeing someone enter the cave alone was outrageous.
1 hour later.....
Arthur clenched his sword with both of his hands and regulated his breathing. His optimised his senses to perceive his surroundings and watch out for any attacks. He was currently being surrounded on all directions by the level 10 and 12 Salamanders. He summoned Virgo and ordered her to buff him
[Strength has been buffed]
[Agility has been buffed]
[Dexterity has been buffed]
His [Keen Senses] alerted him of an attack coming from on of the salamanders that lashed out and swiped at him with their naturally sharp claws. Arthur was composed and used his movement technique to move his body to the side where he raised he sword with his right hand and slid his sword across the neck of the salamander .*ZOOM* From the eyes of the other salamander all they saw was a streak of light decapitating their comrade . They were immediately affected by the charm status lowering their stats and the weakened status effect from Virgo's suppression.
Arthur on the other hand inspected his weapon
[Shortsword
Item type: Weapon
+20 strength
+20 Agility
Durability: 98/100]
This normal sword that Arthur obtained from one of the dead solo players on the field won't be able to hold on for long against the heat. Good thing the salamanders here have a low chance of dropping the rare [FlameSword] which deals additional burn damage.
Arthur then easily dispatched the remaining Salamanders and saw his Exp bar raise up to 50%. "Damn! The extra exp from the necklace is just too good!" Arthur then picked up the drops and then headed towards the end of the cave with a slightly larger Virgo trailing behind.
Around 1 hour later....
Arthur and Virgo who had increased in size tremendously stopped before a huge gate. He then proceeded to touch the door causing it to open and reveal a large monster with dark red scales, a long tail that aggressively smashed against the ground , sharp teeth able to penetrate the thickest of armour and wings where their arms would be. The beast towered over Arthur and Virgo and unleashed a screech.
[Salamander chieftain
Race- Wyvern
Level-20
Boss type- Rare
The strongest Salamander that recently evolved into a Wyvern.]
I picked up my sword and started running towards the Wyvern boss with the [FlameSword] in my hand. The Wyvern then swatted its wing towards me, thinking I was no more than an insignificant bug. I parried the strike but it left my hand numb and chipped away at my health. Virgo, who was now big enough to fly flew behind the boss whilst buffing me. With my buffed agility I dashed towards the side of the wyvern.
The wyvern who was currently enraged unleashed a fireball from its mouth which I quickly ducked under and sliced through the Wyverns juicy stomach, where blood began spurting out. The Wyvern then moved its jaws to bite my head off but I gracefully moved aside. The moment the Wyvern's head was about to make impact with the ground, Virgo appeared above it and used stomp on its head to deal an astronomical amount of damage, lowering the Wyvern's HP to 20% of its original amount.
Although Arthur looked calm and composed on the outside he was currently shocked at how powerful Virgo was. Although his former Companion was powerful it was only a legendary companion. It paled in comparison to the mythical ranked Pegasus.
The boss slowly raised its head as it stared into my eyes. Its head stared wobbling as its eyes started glowing red, signifying that it would be entering berserk mode. Not willing to let this chance slip I almost instantaneously appeared in front of the Wyvern's face and stabbed my sword throughout its eyeball and stabbed the brain directly, dealing critical damage.
The Wyvern then flapped its wings to escape but then white feathers started encircling the boss and attacking it. The damage was minimal when the feathers hit the hard scales but some of the feathers entered the inside of the boss completely destroying the Wyverns internal organs. The Wyverns HP immediately fell to 0 and turned to pixels.
A soft smile adorned my face as I pet Virgo and said "Well done Virgo! You did a good job".
Virgo then neighed in happiness while flapping her wings. Most people would look back onto this day and think 'who decided to give this tiger wings?'.
