Outside the city walls,
"Around 500 years ago there was a dragon and a human who decided to create a country amidst the Chaos Century. You may not know this since information about it is scarce but the Chaos Century was an entire century 500 years ago that concerned the whole world. It was an age of revolution and also a war of chaos." said the old man.
Of course I already knew about the Chaos Century but I also knew that the only natives who knew about that century were the powerful ones. 'Might be a hidden expert' I solemnly thought. I knew this man was far stronger than I was since I couldn't sense anything from him. These were the scariest type of people. They could blend in with the ordinary masses at any time and you wouldn't notice.
The old man didn't seem to notice what Arthur was thinking so he continued speaking " Powerful lost magic item and weapons were created, ancient spells ;passed down and lost with the passage of time. The numerous kingdoms flourished with the new inventions and their ever expanding power. But some of the leaders were too greedy. They sought out more power, more knowledge, and thus began the Chaos Century. People were promised fame and riches if they participated so many youthful young people decided to head out for war. What they saw on the battlefield was something they would never forget for as long as they lived." I noticed that while telling the story his started to furrow his brows.
I had already heard this story from the archmage in my past life but I didn't want to interrupt him so I let him continue. "The wars lasted for an entire century. Many Kingdoms and Empires fell during this time. Most of the Ancient weapons and the revolutionary magic items hidden in the depths of dangerous locations. Lost magic became forgotten during that time and the descendants only managed to replicate different versions of the magic far weaker than the originals. But wherever there is darkness, there will always be light. A dragon by the name of 'Kilgharrah' decided to create a country far away from war. With the help of his former enemy and his closest comrade, Uther Pendragon, they created the county now known as 'Camelot'.
There was once a saying spread throughout the lands about Camelot. Would you like to hear it?"
he asked me. I nodded my head as this conversation intrigued me as the information he was telling me was far more detailed than what the archmage told me in my past life.
The old man then nodded his head with a smile on his face as he said " 'Far far to the west, across the great sea, there's a place called Camelot. Its warm and fertile. Where the fires of war cannot reach'. The country of Camelot became a beacon of light during those horrible times. The Gods in the heavens had enough of all the slaughter and worked with devils of the underworld to restore peace. To this day it is unclear why the devils helped out though. The Chaos Century came to an end and all records of what happened were mysteriously erased and forgotten.
But towards the south of this country named Camelot is a Divine Ancient weapon, said to be the sword formerly owned by Uther Pendragon. 'The sword in the stone', {Excalibur}."
"Excalibur?" I had heard of this sword. It was a sword stuck in a stone that even the strongest of players could not pull out but it was pulled out by a player 1 year after the game was released. The capabilities of the sword was unknown because the owner of the sword was said to have quit 'Flawless' not too long after.
My inner monologue went unnoticed as the old man continued talking " The legendary sword said to have been able to cut down 100,000 men with a single stroke and this Kingdoms very own treasure, Excalibur's sheath {Avalon}. No one has been able to pull the sword out of the stone. It is said that only those deemed worthy will be able to pull out the sword and the Ruler of Camelot will give {Avalon} to the wielder of {Excalibur}. Hm? Oh my would you look the time the sun is going down. Sorry for keeping you here young man. I would love to sit here and tell you stories all day but I have to go now"
I stood up and did a polite bow while saying " Thank you for imparting your knowledge. I have learnt a lot of things today that I hadn't previously known. I don't know how to pay you back. My name is Arthur. May I know the wise elder's name so I could one day repay this debt?"
" Hmmm?" *Chuchkle* "Very well then consider this a parting gift. My name is Uther, Uther Pendragon. You'd do well to remember it young lad." replied the old man.
My eyes widened in realisation. 'This old man was the same Uther from the story he just told me?' I thought. Seemingly realising what I was thinking the old man said " You immortals came down to our world. We natives currently have no idea why you guys were sent here but we obey the orders sent to use through the oracles from the gods. It is as if they are preparing for something. Something far worse than the Chaos Century. If so then you must get strong. To protect this kingdom, to protect the continent, to protect the world. If you seek to know more of me, then find me. I will tell everything as we sit together and drink tea. I shall wait for you, Arthur"
I knew about the event he was talking about but it wouldn't happen anytime soon. I then realised something important. "Huh? Where did the old man go? Did he just disappear? Damn he's fast. I gained a lot of knowledge I didn't know about and with this, the path I will soon be taking has become a lot clearer." While thinking about the old man Uther, I left towards the city to log out.
Somewhere near {Pendragon},
Old man Uther was walking with a stick in hand. He thought to himself ' That kid, he had the aura of a True King. If he manages to pull out {Excalibur} then Ill take him as a successor. What he does to get to that point and what he does afterwards is all dependent on his actions. I sincerely hope I don't regret this'. The old man sighed and continued walking "Im seriously getting too old for this. I hope you get up soon, Kilgharrah"
