"Meeting adjourned.", Adamson said, his usual cold voice echoed throughout the meeting room.
The employees didn't waste any time as they stood up immediately and bowed their head in respect and in fear. All of them disappeared from the room as fast as lighting. Adamson was left alone. His personal secretary Elena Cha, was handling another matter in the conference room.
Adamson stood up and he started to smoke. He just got a recent report on Aubrey's whereabouts. A CCTV footage from the area around Kalla Villa..
Adamson took out his phone and pressed on speed dial number 3. The call went through and was answered immediately.
"How was he?", Adamson asked, he sounded fierce.
"Chairman Lee, Silas Lee was stabilized but he isn't going to wake up soon.", a man said. He was a private doctor assigned for taking care of the previous chairman.
Adamson hung up after he heard what he wanted to know. His face didn't reveal anything but darkness. He remembered seventeen years ago, where he had captured the entire company under his grasp. His grandfather was the one who still held a smile so wicked. He didn't back down till the end.
He remembered very vividly, the bits of their conversation..

"So.. you killed your parents huh..", Silas Lee chuckled when he heard the news. He was now tied up to the chair in a small room. His reaction sparked some malicious feelings within Adamson.
"They're not my parents.", he said, his voice nonchalant.
"I think of you as my own grandson but look what you did to me?! Now release me, you piece of shit!", Silas Lee wasn't afraid of Adamson. He wouldn't back down.
"Well.. that's where you went wrong, grandfather. I knew you took a DNA sample of me yesterday. If you've pretended not to know, then the fire wouldn't break out. I know you will kill me yourself if you know I'm not your real grandson. That's why..", Adamson patted the old man's shoulder.
".. I will kill you before you kill me.", he continued. Just like how his parents wanted to kill him, he killed them first.
"You're insane.", Silas face was contorted with disgust.
"Well.. if we look from my perspective, you're the insane one. Why would you take a DNA sample of your own grandson? Don't you believe in your son and his wife?", Adamson chuckled darkly.
"Hmph. You know why I did it. You think I don't know what you're doing within the company? You're slowly gaining power and influence behind my back. I'm a smart old man, I knew there's something wrong with you.", Silas was still acting arrogant. He didn't want to fall prey upon a seventeen years old kid. He knew Adamson was planning something when an army of financial and legal backups were behind his back.
His gut told him that he should do the DNA test, but the day after that, the main mansion was caught fire. And he was kidnapped. He was right all along, only family members were the one to be trusted, not some bastard grandson like Adamson. He regretted not killing the boy sooner and was actually kind to him all these years. Now even his son was dead.
"Where's my grandson?", Silas asked Adamson, his voice stern.
"Am I not your grandson?", he laughed.
"Answer me you bastard! Where's Aubrey?!", the old man was starting to get furious. Aubrey was the only family and rightful heir he had now. The boy was only eight years old. Could he survive the fire?
Adamson took a seat in front of Silas Lee. He crossed his legs and put his chin onto his palm. He seemed too casual and was enjoying the show.
"I did it in front of your heir.", Adamson said nonchalantly. It was fun to see the old man's face changed suddenly.
"What do you mean?"
"I killed his parents in front of him.", he said, a smile so wicked on his face.
"Why must you involved my heir? Has he done wrong to you?", Silas threw a glare upon hearing it. He wanted to punch the bastard right then but he didn't have the energy.
Silas knew now.. he was one step behind. And Adamsom was the lead.

Back to present.
Adamson Lee went back to his office. He didn't really feel anything when recalling such events in the past. His heart was turned to stone the moment he realized the batrayal of his own parents. He wasn't able to feel, he was numb of all feelings.
It was true when people said, "the saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies, it comes from those you trust the most."
He took out a sidearm beneath his suit jacket, a G20 Glock handgun. The same model he had used when he killed his parents.
His eyes were dark in color. He was thinking about killing somebody. But he couldn't bring himself to do it, even after seventeen years. Especially when that somebody was someone he once loved and cared for genuinely.
"Damn you Aubrey.."
He turned to the door where a knocking sound was heard. It was Elena Cha, his personal secretary.
"Chairman Lee, the report on High Inc came just now. I'll put it on your desk.", the woman said and she walked to his desk, putting the file down.
"And do let me remind you that the meeting with our co-partner Qinlu Global is in ten minutes.", she continued.
Adamson didn't say a word. He didn't even turned to look at her. She saw the gun he was holding, and her heart ached painfully. She knew what and who he really is. It was no lie that he was a devil in human flesh, a human without a beating heart. Elena knew all of his dark side but she couldn't stop herself from falling into the darkside. It was too late to regret it now.. she was already in for a heartbreak. Because she fell for a devil.
She turned around, ready to go back to her post. It was pointless to think of her feelings anymore.
