Chapter 41 - Meet Elize

Elize POV

I groaned, my head throbbing, I opened my eyes, my eyesight hazy. As I woke up memories of the night overwhelmed my brain, I clutched my chest as I struggled to stand holding onto the tree behind me for support. A small pouch fell clanking softly, I opened the unknown pouch finding some silver coins; I clenched my teeth in anger, kicking the pouch away. That pouch was not there before the only explanation was that person put it there! Did they think I could accept this with just a few pity coins! All the coins int the world wouldn't be worth Barnes. You can't buy a family, friends or love!!

Once I steadied myself, I looked up scanning my surroundings searching for that strange person. Then I saw it, uncertain as I wobbled over praying to God that I saw wrong. My prayer didn't come true. My last family laid there lifeless on the ground spewing blood from his head a few meters away. I dropped to my knees, tears welling in my eyes. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Please let this be a joke!!" I grabbed Barnes' shoulders shaking his body desperately trying to wake him.

"Barnes, don't play, come on, it's not funny!" my voice got softer as I wept. Inside I knew he was long gone, his body was ice cold and his flesh felt more like a rock. Blood soaked my entire being as I sat beside him wishing to just wake up from this nightmare..... I never woke up.

I propped myself against a tree holding Barnes' head, staring at his dead eyes still widened and filled to the brim with pain. I cared not for the rotten stench or the flies that crowded, buzzing around us, I just held him.... what was left of him.

"Don't worry old man, I'll avenge you, shhh, just rest once I have avenged you I'll join you so, just wait for me, Kay?" I stroked his balding head. I wiped the tears on my cheek, but it was pointless; more tears rushed to replace them.

I use my hand, digging out a small pit, placing his head and covering it with moist dirt. I wiped my cheeks again, plastering my face in bloody dirt. "I'm sorry I can only give you this much old man, forgive me?" I sat staring at the small burial I provided him, allowing time to drip by until I finally rose once the sun's rays pounded against my back.

My tears dried, and my eyes were bloodshot and puffy but no longer filled with sadness but resolve. I needed to find that person, but I barely had any leads. I knew two things; they may like wearing black(Though it's just a wild guess) and their hair is silver, I found this when I say some strands of their hair peeking from their hood. The stature of the person seemed to be that of a girl, not mentioning the obvious pair of large bosoms that gave her away even though she wore a heavy cloak that wrapped her entire body.

With my search narrowed, I headed to the adventurer's guild, still covered in blood. Whoever that girl was she might be registered at the guild and I could get some information if not I would search the ends of the earth in search of that girl!
