Alina watched, enthralled by his hair slowly turning blonde.
"Why didn't you do that earlier?" Ruby asked.
"I didn't have hair to work with." Salem shrugged. "It's harder to make hair that's not going to fall out than to change it."
Alina nodded, understanding.
"I never asked, have I?" He said aloud to himself.
"Asked what?" Alina seemed to inflate a little bit whenever Salem needed to ask her a question.
"What's the capital of this country?" He paused. "And the name of this country?"
It was Ruby who responded this time. "This nation is actually a kingdom." She said. "This is the kingdom of Frian, and its capital is Cardinal, which is about a thousand kilomiters southwest of us."
"Shall we head there?" Salem asked.
"If we get to fly there." Alina said.
"We?" Ruby questioned. "How are we going to fly unless we ride Salem?"
Salem smiled at the innuendo. "I can make flight suits that are quite easy to use." He explained the controls and how they worked.
"I'm guessing those things on your backs are just as advanced?" Ruby asked, pointing to their SKS's.
"Actually, they are far less complicated." Salem said. "These are guns and they can fire projectiles much faster than the speed of sound."
"Woah!" Ruby exclaimed. "Can I have one?"
Salem agreed and made her one, but ensured that she knew that it was dangerous.
"If you shoot one of us, it will likely spell our end." Salem said, handing it to her. "And don't look down the barrel!"
Her first action with it in her hands was to look down the barrel.
"When holding it, hold it so the barrel goes over your shoulder like this." He demonstrated. "This way you can run with it easily and can swing your arms for momentum."
He then showed her how the strap worked.
Then, they turned southwest and embarked upon their thousand-kilomiter journey.
....
They arrived at Cardinal half a day later.
Salem was the first to spot it on the horizon. Landing about two kilomiters out, Salem made a telescope so he could make sure his clothing matched the area.
"Convinient that even the rich have to get out of their carraiges to enter." He remarked.
What confused him about the city was their clothing. Their clothing almost perfectly matched American fashion. The only noticable difference was they wore a lot more modest of clothing than some of the people he had seen back in Seattle.
"Looks like I get to wear my suit." He said, happily changing his flight suit into a black three-piece suit.
"Why don't we wear suits as well?" Ruby asked.
"I can do that." Salem said "Do you want a suit too, Alina?"
"Yes." She agreed immediately.
"Alright." He said, making their clothing change into matching three-piece suits. "What colour ties?"
Ruby selected the same dark green as her kimono was, and Alina opted for a dark blue tie. Salem made his orange and made a comb.
Helping Alina and Ruby fix their tangled hair from the long flight, they developed aliases.
Alina would be called Lana, Ruby would be called Opal, and Salem would be called Berlin.
Salem was acting as a necromancer and both Ruby and Alina were a sword mage and a hunter respectively, since neither of them had unlocked their second classes yet. (Or maybe the author hasn't thought of them yet?)
Salem dissasembled their guns (Ruby was very sad about this.) and made a hand-and-a-half sword for Ruby, and a compound bow for Alina.
The trio then entered the thouroghfare that was just as thick two kilomiters out as it was right at the gates.
