Chapter 12 - She might be a genius, but she's still a kid

It was not impossible for someone to bend three elements, but it was really rare. Though it was not so shocking as Aria's grandfather could also bend three elements. But the thing that shocked most of them was that Aria was just seven years old.

Suddenly Aria turned her head to Penny, "Penny why did you fall from such a height?"

Penny really seemed nervous. She said, "I was at the bell tower. My foot slipped and I fell."

Aria tilted her head, "What were you doing in the bell tower?" Penny broke out into a sweat and started mumbling something. When Aria forced her, Penny fainted. Joseph took a very worried Aria into her arms, "Now now Aria. She's just shocked. Let me take her to her chamber where she can rest."

Aria shook her head, "I want to stay with Penny."

Her mother tried to convince her, "Aria, she will be fine. Penny will have many people to take care of her. You should come with me to entertain the guests."

But Aria seemed to be a little shocked form what happened. She tried to jump out of her father's arms towards Penny, "I want to go with Penny." Joseph sighed, "Natalia, please take Beth and Julia back to the hall. And all of you may return to the hall to enjoy the party. I will be back with Aria shortly." he said, turning to the guests. The guests went off into the main hall as two butlers carried Penny towards the servants' chambers, with Joseph following them with Aria in his arms.

Penny was laid in her room and a doctor came to examine her. He said after checking Penny, "She just fainted from the shock. She should be waking up any time now."

Joseph knelt down and said, "You see Aria, Penny will be just fine. There are many people to take care of her here. So why don't you and I leave Penny to her friends and go back to your mother." Seeing that Aria still looked unconvinced, he added, "You can come to see her the first time in the morning, hmm?"

Hearing this Aria nodded and stretched out her hands indicating that she wanted to be picked up. Joseph was pleasantly surprised. Though Aria never protested when anyone picked her up, she rarely took the initiative on her own. As he picked her up, Joseph thought, "Poor Aria, she's traumatized. She might be a genius, but she's only a kid."

And then he carried her out of Penny's room, where many of the servants were standing. He said, "You can go to meet her, though she has still not woken up."

Little did Joseph know that Aria only wanted to be picked up because at her height, it was difficult to see the facial expressions of people clearly. And Aria was sure that Penny had not slipped. The worst case scenario, she thought, was that someone had pushed her.

And Aria's plan worked. As she left Penny's room with her father, a man leaning on the wall opposite to the door seemed to be looking at her weirdly. Aria immediately fixed his face in her mind as her father took her to the party.
