Chapter 16 - A happy family

Aria shook her head. "No it's not that dad."

She wiped off her tears and slipped out of Joseph's arms to hug Natalia's stomach. "I'm happy. I'm really.... really happy."

Tears also started glistening in Natalia's eyes. She knelt down and hugged her youngest daughter. Aria suddenly backed away, "Mom!!!! Stand properly. Bending like this will hurt the baby." Hearing this the rest of her family laughed. Aria looked around with confusion written on her face. Joseph cupped Aria's cheek. "This will not hurt the baby, my treasure." Aria came to realisation and nodded her head.

After spending the morning with his family, Joseph stood up, "My dear, you should rest now."

Natalia nodded and looked at her daughters, "Will you all keep me company?"

Beth and Julia nodded while Aria stood up. She said, "Mom, I need to talk to dad about something. I will come to your chamber after that."

Natalia was surprised and looked at Joseph, who looked as much surprised as his wife. He said, "What do you want to talk about, Aria? Did something happen at the academy?"

Aria shook her head, "No dad. I just needed to ask you about something I read in a book."

Joseph nodded and Natalia sighed in relief. This was quite a common occurrence. After the mother and two daughters left, Joseph asked, "What did you want to ask Aria?"

Aria: "Dad, can someone bend four elements?"

Joseph's face was drained of all colour, "Why? Aria, are you able to bend all the four elements?"

Aria could tell by her father's reaction that 'yes' was the worst word she could speak right now, and she couldn't bend earth anyway. So Aria said, "Of course not dad. I was just curious...."

Joseph relaxed, "Oh okay. Well, to answer your question, I believe someone was once able to bend them, but I do not know the details..."

Aria looked at her father expectantly. So he continued, "But father may."

Aria jumped up, "Let's go ask him." Then she ran out of the room, pulling her father behind her.

Joseph sighed. This was the scenario every time Aria got curious about something. She would not rest until she solved whatever was going on in her little mind. "Well, I'm sure father will not be angry. He adores the kid." Joseph thought as they reached his father's study.

As Aria pushed open the door, Christopher looked up. He had been reading some documents when he heard his study door opening. He saw Aria entering with her father.

Christopher put down the documents and motioned for Aria to come towards him. Aria went up to her grandfather and he made her sit on his lap. He said, "You're back child."

Aria: "Yeah grandpa. Say grandpa, I had something to ask you?"

Christopher: "Ask away, my child."

Aria: "Umm, has anyone ever been able to bend all the four elements?"

Christopher's reaction was really similar to his son's. He asked, "Aria, why do you ask?"

Aria: "Oh I was just curious. I read somewhere that people have never been able to bend all the elements. But one person has been able to. His name was.... I think....umm... Ju something..."

"Julius Alan." Christopher said in a grave tone.
