Chapter 26 - Chapter Twenty-Six

The hostile wind nipped at Isha's face as he pulled the scarf over her face. Rei didn't say anything, even if she did, he wasn't sure if he could tell over the howling of the wind. He stayed close to Rei the best he could in order to not lose her.

After a good while of traversing the snow desert, Rei led him into a warehouse, closing the door behind him. The hair on Isha's skin stood on end, the entire atmosphere had changed as soon as he walked in. The interior felt colder than the blizzard outside, the only thing lacking was the wind.

He went into a defensive stance as Rei made her way towards him, a hand in the hilt of her blade. He was able to see her despite the darkness, as though there were a light in the middle of the room.

"Oh cool your jets." She hissed at him, walking passed him, crouching a bit. "We're going to hunt some demons." She informed him, pulling her knife out as she climbed a staircase in the warehouse.

"Hunt demons? But Mr. Ilan said-" He furrowed his brow as she cut him off.

"When he says few demons, he means the ones that look like animals. There are many humanoid demons, but little May can't handle killing –Let alone eating– a humanoid being. I swear he babies her." She let out a sigh and brushed her hair.

As Isha went to follow her, he could hear murmuring in the distance, as well as a sound he knew all too well.

"We've discovered a group, they're down there." She whispered softly pointing down below. As Isha looked down under the grated walkway, he spotted a group of five. They were hunched over two bodies in the middle of what seemed to be a ritual circle made with blood.

There were candles that lit the otherwise dark lit room, a few other symbols painted in what seemed to be blood. Isha had to hold his nose as the stench of rot wafted up, and he soon was able to notice animal corpses in addition to the human ones.

"It appears we stumbled on fresh demons." Rei whispered, watching them. "See the symbols in those circles? They're Latin letters. This is a demon summoning ritual, and I dare say it worked." She smirked impishly. As though she were a kid, receiving a new toy.

"They're senses shouldn't differ that much from a normal person's; else we'd have been spotted. Let's ruin a cultist's day shall we?" And with that she leapt from the walkway, pulling another dagger from seemingly nowhere. The poor bastard who decided to look up at her got a dagger to each eye.

She then twisted the blades and ripped his skull apart. The other demons were frozen for a bit before they began screaming in languages unknown to Isha.

"Quid infernum ?" One of them shouted in confusion.

"Suus ' canis nos monuit de! Occidere eam !" Another exclaimed. They all seemed to regain their composure for the most part, attacking Rei. Rei narrowed her eyes and jumped away from them. As she did this, one of them growled and threw a blue flame at her.

"Isha you lazy bastard get down here!" She yelled at him. A throbbing ran through Isha's head as his eyes widened a bit. He felt unnervingly calm, leaping from the walk-way. As he neared the ground; he landed on a demon's back, quickly grabbing his horns and holding tight.

"O mikrós gamiólis den afínei na fýgei !" This one shouted. The way he spoke felt different, but he tried to thrash Isha off all the same. The pounding went through Isha's head again; this time painful enough to wrench a scream out of him.

The demon all the sudden seemed to freeze as Isha howled —and with a sudden movement— twist the demon's head into a complete circle.

While this occurred, Rei was fending off the other three demons. However, they all stopped and looked as they heard Isha's howl, watching as the demon froze. Rei let out an audible laugh as the young man twisted the head around.

"I knew you had it in you." She muttered. Rei expected the demons to attack her again, but they just watched Isha, the once enraged demons now seeming scared.

"D-den eínai énas apó emás ?" One of them mumbled to the other two. They glanced from Isha to the other one.

"Ipse est, quare est dixit, et cum hoc catholicae dogma ?" Another sporadically asked, quivering a bit.

"Listen up," The three froze as they looked back up at Isha. The body of the demon he'd executed was on the floor now. Two horns —about five inches each— were grow-ing from his head now, and his eyes had a certain glow to them. Even his voice had be-come lower, a bit like gravel too the ears, but not so much.

"I don't know…." His voice began to trail a bit at some words, as though he wasn't sure how to pronounce them. "What the hell you're dicens," He cracked his neck, almost a bit too far to the right. "But… to be frank… it's rather annoying the kátouro outta me."

Rei herself was speechless. She hadn't expected this to occur, so she just sat and watched, ready in case he attacked her. Isha seemed to stumble a bit, as though he had forgotten how to move his legs.

The demons didn't utter a word, just watching as he crept towards them. One of them took a gulp and stepped forward.

"P-possumus p-p-pacisci?" He stammered out. He then grew stiff, his mouth gaping open as he tried to speak but no words came out. In a flash Isha seemed to regain the use of his legs, dashing and using his teeth to rip out the jugular of the demon.

"Didn't… I say to… Shut up?" He cracked his neck again. "Heh… heheh…" Isha laughed a bit to himself as he slowly walked over the fallen corpse, shambling yet again.

And then he lunged again without warning, grabbing the second demon by his arms, ripping them off and proceeding to beat the demon to death with them. Rei was aston-ished —but albeit impressed— with Isha and his current rate of slaughter.

She had no clue what triggered it, but who was she to stop him? It was fun to watch anyways, for now at least. The last demon went to run away while Isha was preoccu-pied, but alas was stopped. There was a black, tentacle like shape wrapped around his leg.

Rei froze at the sight, watching wide eyed as the demon was drug back to Isha and dangled in air. The tentacle seem to be from the shadow under Isha's feet, the candles giving off an eerie scene.

The demon knew talking wouldn't help at this point, so he just gave up, hanging there limp as he stared at Isha.

"You broke… rather quickly." Isha growled amusedly, his voice saying the last bit a few octaves higher. The demon was then flung into a wall, then pulled from it to be pulled to another. When the demon was brought back infront of Isha, seeming to still be breath-ing, Isha proceeded to smash him up and down. Floor, ceiling. Floor, ceiling. Floor, ceil-ing.

The last time seemed to truly kill him, his body dangling like a rag doll. Seeming content with himself, Isha dropped the body. As he did, he felt another course of pain shoot through his head, gripping it.

"Well, well Isha. You've made quite the mess." Rei began to walk towards him, a bit skeptically as he fell to his knees, holding his head.

"What… is this sense of power…." He looked up at Rei, almost pleadingly. Isha had felt a tremendous urge to kill the demons, but completing that, he was left with almost nothing besides his own confusion.

"I'd presume it's the summoning circle. Everything else is merely speculation. I'm more of amazed you're not trying to attack me…" She knelt down. As she did so, Isha seemed to flinch a bit and step back.

Rei let him sit in silence for a bit as he caught his breath. She curiously looked over his horns and noticed a tail behind him. She nodded to herself.

"Feel better now?" She asked, feeling concerned now. Charles would have her ass if anything was wrong with Isha. Thankfully for her he nodded.

"Good, eat the demon corpses now. And hurry, we don't have much time before the sould escape." Rei told him, standing up and looking around the warehouse. "I'm going to check these books out. Find out what cult this is." She added, mainly to herself.

Isha got up slowly, beginning to feel a bit better, a bit more in control as he went to-wards the corpse of the demon Rei killed first. He didn't know why, but it was easier to kill, and even eat these guys then it was Hank.

Maybe it was because they were demons? Maybe it was the recent memories. Whatever it may be, Isha was able to easily consume their flesh. And so consume them is just what he did.

He started with the main organs and worked his way towards other areas, ignoring cer-tain extremities. Isha could feel the new power surge through him almost immediately. This was much different than when he ate Hank.

When he finished consuming what he could, he was a bloody mess. It was everywhere on him. He stood up silently, making his way towards Rei. He felt his tail lash a bit. It was a rather peculiar feeling, as though an extra arm had grown from his spine. Howev-er, it wasn't as easy to move.

Rei closed a book she was reading as he approached. Looking behind him, she saw the cleaned corpses and nodded.

"Good. Now, before we return to the café, I need to get you able to control you're power there." Rei told him, setting the book down.

"Alright, that's understandable." Isha nodded, feeling his horns. He felt calmer now for some reason. He didn't quite know why, but he figured he should try and focus on training and controlling his power for now. A small smile crept on his lips as he stared directly at Rei, ready to learn.
