What greeted Isha at the cafe was a refreshing cup of coffee, May handing it to him, her eyes glowing slightly.
"I'll have to finish it quickly, I'm sure Rose is worried, you know?" May seemed to pout at Isha's words, but didn't argue as he drank the coffee.
A distance a way, Rei and the old man were discussing amongst themselves, every now and then Rei would glance at Isha. This made him feel slightly uncomfortable as he gently patted May's head, drinking from his cup.
"I should probably head out now…" He mumbled to himself, setting down the empty cup.
"What!" May exclaimed, he ears and tail reveling themselves. "H-how could you! You just got here!" She exasperated, going limp as she laid her body against me. Isha furrowed his eyebrow as May reacted as though he just committed a war crime.
"Well, then why not go with him?"
"Really?!"
"Wait, WHAT?! Old man, are you trying to kill me??" Isha lashed back as May suddenly reanimated her body, her eyes starry as she looked at her grandfather with excitement.
"I don't see why not, she's been cooped up in the cafe for…. yeah way to long." He nodded to himself, stroking his mustache.
"Yeah, that's cool and all, but we've only known eachother for like a week." ISha replied, trying to avoid this bullet.
"And yet you almost took a bath with her?" He replied.
"Not of my own volition!" Isha exclaimed. But it was too late, this argument is one he lost. He just put his head down and let out a small sigh. "Alright, I suppose."
"Really!" May cheered, causing Isha to slightly smile. "I'll go get some things!!" And with that she scampered up the stairs excitedly. Isha watched her make it up to the second floor.
"So, what's the angle old man?" He asked Mr. Ilan.
"Simple." He was twiddling his mustache. "I'd like a biblical study and discussion with my old apprentice. As things may get… heated since I am a Protestant and she's a dirty ca…. she is of a different view, I'd like to play it safe." He replied, a glare stabbing into him from Rei. Isha nodded, smiling a bit as he stood up and stretched.
"I'm all ready!" May cheered, scampering down the steps with an old suitcase, smiling all excitedly as she grabbed Isha's hand. "C'mon lets go!!"
"Wait, wait, you don't even know the way!" Isha responded, getting tugged out the door by the small girl. Mr. Ilan smirked, a bible making a loud thump as he slammed it on the table.
"Today is the day you get learnt old apprentice of mine!" The old man shouted.
"On the contrary, today is the day the master learns from the disciple!" Another bible was slammed onto the table as the two began furiously opening pages.
As they walked to the apartment, Isha pondered to himself. Why did Felix change his tune all of a sudden? Was it maybe a trap? Just who were Felix and Greg. Who was Isha? He furrowed his brow as he thought to himself.
What was it Isha didn't know? The more he focused on it, the more he felt something missing. Something... not quite right. He thought back to the conversation with Greg. Didn't Felix just go against what he said? Maybe he should have denied Rei's order to eat the corpse, that is what presumably awoke Felix.
"I really need to think things out more..." He muttered to himself. Letting out a sigh as the steam from his breath wafted into the sky.
"Hm? Why's that?" May innocently asked, tilting her head up at him. Her eyes were full of excitement, humming the entire way as Isha led her to the complex.
Isha didn't respond, just smiling softly at her and gently patting her head as he thought to himself. Without thinking he had accepted Rose despite her trying to kill him, as well as May without question. He grew his demonic power, as suggested by Greg. Was Greg really trying to help him then? Or work against him? He made an odd reference to kool-aid, which didn't make any sense.
Isha thought back to the only memory he had gotten so far, the child slaughter. What else was there? Did he do it more than once? What about his parents? Isha was an orphan, but was he always an orphan? Did he end up killing his parents? Why did the church make him do that.
The thoughts swirled around his head and exhausted him. Would Greg prevent him from remembering? Rather, it seemed as though Greg and Felix have something to do with the current situation in general. Where they beings that possessed Isha before and this is the result? But Greg did say he wanted Isha to remember...
A shiver went down Isha's spine as he glanced around. It felt as though they were being watched, but he spotted no one.
However, Isha froze, taking a double take as they passed a bench, a few blocks from the apartment. The girl from Zoey's get together -the bookworm- was there.
"Someone you know?" May inquired him, tilting her head.
"Something like that... met once..." He replied, getting in between May and the girl, just in case, as they walked past.
The bookworm suddenly closed her read, looking up at the both of them with furrowed eyebrows. Isha stopped and turned to face her, making sure he was between her and May.
"Hey, you haven't been at school for awhile, and Zoey won't speak about you since the fight happened... Is there a reason you're not coming? Well aside from the snow storm a bit ago." She had her head tilted.
"What? It's only been like… a week." Isha furrowed his brow at her. Why did she care. He had no clue who she was, and more than likely vice versa.
"Hank hasn't come to school since then either, do you know anything about him as well?" Isha's blood ran cold. "I mean people disappear around the bad part of town... but I don't think he'd go down there." She continued
"Why do you care. I haven't seen him since then either. Now if that's all please leave me alone. Like I said, it's only been like, a week. Not that big of a deal." He spoke with a cold tone of voice. May stared at Isha for a moment, her face contorted in confusion.
The girl nodded, seeming a little shocked as she slowly got up. Luckily she wasn't one for much conflict.
"Right... Hope you come back... soon." And with that she took her leave.
"Are you okay?" May asked as she left, giving Isha a warm hug as she tried to make him feel better, snow slowly beginning to fall." He hesitated a bit before patting her head in response.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Isha replied to her, She nodded before huffing and biting his hand. "Ahh! What was that for??"
"That's for lying!" She replied with a huff further glaring at him. "I felt a surge of power! I'm not stupid."
"The surge of power was probably just this..." Isha answered, his tail appearing and hitting May. He did a double take to make sure there was no one else.
"Wahwahwahwah!" May jumped off him in surprise trying to bat the moving tail. "You got some power! That's great nya~!" May cheered and hugged Isha again. "However...." She then grabbed his horns, pulling his head down.
"Ow ow ow!" Isha yelped as she grinned.
"Are you really okay?" May asked Isha. At her words, he felt something run down his cheek, and proceeded to cover and wipe his face. He didn't understand as more tears started to come fourth. He felt warm inside, making his tail and horns disappear.
"I'm fine, I promise." Isha managed out from behind his arms. May wrapped her arms around him and nuzzled up to him, her tail swishing as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"It's going to be okay nya. You're gaining strength nyow nya!" May stated, trying to cheer him up as she nuzzled.
Isha didn't want to let this warmth go, but was it okay for him to feel this? He who doesn't remember much of his past, he who avoided people until now. Was it really alright?
"Thank you May.. really… But we're in public, you shoul-"
The sound of footsteps chilled Isha to his core, looking up from May's small face, He spotted Zoey with an object in her hands.
"Hey, isn't that a-" His eyes widened.
