"Yo, this is Choir, Jeremy, your next-door hubby and the one that's been hunting your secretaries," he started with a wide smile on his face, sitting on a chair as he watched the others, along with Mary, packing up their stage. "So, what's the word hummingbird?"
"You already know who I am and why I'm calling you right after you finished the Livestream. I—"
"Oh no…" He let out a long disinterested groan. "It's about the report… is it, Miss MC?
"No, actually it isn't, but I'll have to remind you later that I needed how she fared with the mission instead of getting a three—no… four fucking pages of how beautiful her ass was written in Shakespearean with, borrowing your words, 'h'r rampallian jiggles ev'ry timeth the lady doth take a stepeth, coequal m're so at which hour the lady did tie that gent up.' The fuck are you doing?!"
Jeremy laughed out loud, making Mary look at her, confused, as she helped the others without him knowing. "I am not apologizing."
"You—" She was about to shout but held herself back. Then, after a few seconds of heaving a few deep breaths, she followed, "Anyway, I'm sorry but I'm giving you a new mission this needs to be dealt with asap. I need your shadow clones."
"What?" Jeremy raised her brow, meeting Mary's gaze and suggesting that she should step away before he returned to his call. "You're onto me aren't you? You should've asked me instead of giving me missions, you fucking tsundere. However, I do like people who looked to be around my age but I don't mind picking on something that looks—"
"Dream on, faggot!" She shouted with a voice so high-pitched that made the mic seem as if it gave up and disappeared. Then, after a moment of the call seeming as if it was disconnected, she came back with her voice that turned a bit calmer, adding, "I'm... we'll be coming there to pick you up. I'll be sending you the data so keeps a heads up and—"
"What the hell happened?" Jeremy shouted back, with a hint of confusion in his words.
"Well, if you could've waited for me to send the files but fine... " She groaned once more, which was followed by a moment of her shouting in the background and asking for coffee. "TLDR, someone fidgeted with a Ouija Board and fucked up."
"Ah, you're really into me," Jeremy responded a moment later while scrolling through the files that she sent. "These are just a bunch of… this is worthless. Thank you, boss!"
"Spare me the bullshit, Jeremy, but I'm not going to lie, we don't know anything about this guy-girl… or even whatever-the-fuck that is."
"Is it even our job to handle this?"
"Nope, hell no… this shit got thrown on me literally after just a minute of me having a good laugh when you shot that guy down. The Reds are getting their clearance to move out but at the moment, we are on our own, that's why we need your shadow clones. I figured that if you could produce that amount of clones as much as your audience earlier against it, this shit would be easy-peasy," she replied before breaking into a laugh. "I mean, Death is going cray-cray about the sudden increase in deaths because of that thing's killing spree. I'm going to have someone cut that voicemail of his so I could use it as my ringtone."
"Them, that really sounds like not my problem," he added with a voice that sounded like a whisper, he continued, "Thank you, by the way, I appreciate it."
"No worries and well, it is now."
"So you're basically telling me to fight against something we don't even know and possibly find out who and what it is?" He asked with a sarcastic tone.
"Yes and no, I'm telling you to kill yourself over and over again until the ones suited for the job take over," she replied with a laugh almost immediately.
"So, just get there and die and buy some time like some sort of pawn?" Jeremy asked with a mocking tone.
"Right, that you are," she replied with her voice sounding as if she was smiling. "It's you or a dozen of reapers getting culled. You're basically smart enough to know what my answer was, right?"
"Fucking hell…" Jeremy continued, looking through the files as he spoke. "These guys all died in one hit… has this even happened before?"
"Yes, and luckily, Ankou was there to take care of it. She bought enough time for the Reds to arrive, she flattened half of a city though."
"And?"
"And? What do you mean and?" Ankou's gone at the moment to deal with that god of harvest or something, you're our best bet."
"Just because I can die over and over again without any repercussions?" He tightened his jaws and forced himself to smile.
"Precisely, yeah."
"Goddammit." He sighed. "Just give me the damn maps at least and that monster's possible routes. I'm not even a part of your squad anymore, jeez, do you even have any plan in mind?"
The other line fell silent.
"You son-of-a-bitch," he added in anger. "you have nothing except using me as a fodder?!"
"Alright, I'm sorry, I'm sorry… but know that we're giving you our full support!" She shouted. "Everything on this ship is at your disposal."
"Can we carpet bomb the block where that monster was?
"No…" MC replied after a moment of hesitation.
"Okay…" He took a deep breath and was about to move on normally but then as if he remembered something, he knitted his brows and shouted, "The fuck do you mean no?!"
"We just can't! Can't you imagine in that fat brain of yours that I wouldn't have come asking for your help if I could? That thing dragged the souls that summoned it with its body, don't even know it if it knows that it's using a human shield. I don't know if those souls would get destroyed or not too, but I can't risk it. I can't have Death nagging me about it!"
"Nice, now it's killed over thirty people, thanks for watching it while it did, boss!"
"Oh shut the fuck up, It's not my fault that a class of college students decided to have an orgy right at that part of the town!"
"Just crash the damn ship towards it then or I know, send in Rick!"
"No!" The voice behind the phone immediately replied that it had him run his palm through his face.
"What the fuck does 'everything in this ship is at your disposal' mean then?!" He protested.
"It means everything in this ship, not the whole goddamn ship you fucking dumbass." She yelled. "It means that you get to make the plans, you get to make demands and we would be forced to comply so long that your request is on a reasonable ground! And no one is fucking touching Rick while we're at it!"
"I don't like the way you're talking to me," he replied as his lips slowly curved into a twisted smile as though he suddenly thought of something.
"You're bringing this right now?"
"Yes and by the way, does that mean anything?"
"Yes, anything."
"For example say… a request and a piece of important, important, really important information?" Jeremy said with a playful smile.
"Yes, I can give you Rachel's new number so shut the fuck up and get inside the boat, Jeremy, we'll be there in four minutes!"
"Okay, if you say so," he continued with a mischievous tone before he turned to Mary, who was carrying the green large couch over her shoulders, saying, "Hey, Mary, I have to tell you something."
"You motherfucker…" The woman on the phone whispered slowly with her voice sounding as if it was brimming with anger.
"Yes, sir?" Mary dropped what she was holding and walked towards him with a confused grin.
"MC told me to welcome you into her squad!' He continued, making her drop into her knees.
"God fucking dammit, Jere—"
He dropped the call and after letting out a laugh that ended with a long satisfied breath, he walked towards Mary and helped her to get on her feet with a bright smile.
Mary tilted her head. "T-thank you… sir, but is there something wrong?"
"Ah yeah, MC fucked us over so I did that something to annoy her."
"Then…"
Mary was about to lower her head but was stopped when Jeremy tapped her shoulder. "Eh… I'll make it happen, so ready yourself, girl. We're fighting a goddamn demon."
"Bleach, or Inuyasha?"
"Oh." He let out a long breath through his nose and with a twisted grin, he added, "Berserk."
