"I have to get Viela to help—"
"No, this is all part of my fail-safe plan," Jeremy interrupted her with a wide dark smile.
"Listen to yourself talk, you bastard!" MC said as she clenched her fist and walked towards the door. Without even looking back, she added, "You dismantled a part of my ship, you got your shadow clones killed—"
"Please don't call it shadow clones…"
"—the flags that you've stationed did little-to-no-shit than buying like five seconds, your snipers did nothing but play some fucking music, your towers gave it some ammo and chance to evolve and the worst of all, you got Mary compromised!"
"Oh, so now, you care about the girl. What a pretty big talk since you're the one that sent her to me." Jeremy raised his hand to the air as though he was surrendering while a smug grin crept up his face.
"You son of a bitch!" MC shouted, turning her head and looking back at him with her face flushed with dread and about to break into a cry. She raised her chin and was about something but after taking a pause, she lowered her head and faced the door once again. "I'll ask Ri…" She clenched her fist. "I'm getting Viela and we'll get Mary here immediately…"
"So you do care about the girl…" Jeremy whispered, still with the same tone. "Don't worry, I like that kid's guts too and I ain't letting her die... I still have a plan left before I start considering begging in front of it too and of course, I won't be the one taking responsibility for it and my only condition… is, of course, for you to not get mad at me," he added along with a playful chuckle.
"I'm listening…" MC replied with a stern tone as she placed her trembling hand on the doorknob.
"No, really… I have to hear you say it…" Jeremy continued with a laugh that made MC march towards him and grab him by the collar.
With her golden eyes that shone despite the dark aura that emanated from her glare, she peered into his eyes and slowly, she said, "I swear, on Death himself… that I, Maria Cacao would not get mad and would take full responsibility for what this insect in front of me would do…"
Jeremy smiled as a response and with his gaze still fixated on her, he raised his arm and pressed the button to unmute the mic before commanding, "Prepare the Dolphin for takeoff…"
"What… what are you..."
"I got good news for you boys, we got permission from our good Miss MC herself," Jeremy continued with the corners of his lips twisting even more. "Shield heroes, do you copy?"
"Yessir, we've just regrouped and we're waiting on your commands, sir!"
He looked at the screen once more and saw their target, still left unbothered by the shots it's taking from its snipers as it made its way to cross the empty intersection. There, he smiled once again and looked at MC. "Abandon all plans and execute Plan Q; Aloha Snackbar."
"What…"
"Yessir, blowing up the surrounding buildings on the surrounding intersection now…"
"What the fuck!" MC shouted in confusion.
Jeremy looked at the feed at their side once again and as though instinctively, MC followed his lead. There, in the middle of the street where their target lay, everything looked slow as both of them held their breaths. With both of them widening their eyes and with MC opening her mouth in shock as Jeremy let out a lighthearted grin, everything disappeared from their view. The houses and the buildings that surrounded the monster in the distance like a cage turned white and disappeared into an explosion that was so strong it looked like it shook the earth itself.
"Fuck yeah!" One shouted from the other side of the call before the others followed with a maniacal laugh in unison.
Jeremy let out a chuckle and pressed his palm over MC's hand that held her collar. "So, are you gonna kiss me now or not?"
MC pulled her hand away and stepped back without a word and Jeremy, after giving him a wink, faced the microphone with a smug smile. He raised his chin and with a grin that was now wider than ever, he shouted, "We're back in the game boys, give me your status report!"
"The towers are locked and loaded, sir, we're waiting on your commands!" one replied on the other side, making Jeremy look at the tall buildings on the map beyond the flat land of rubble.
"The snipers are all good, sir!"
"Good," Jeremy replied and now with his voice, sounding a bit playful and mischievous, he continued, "It's time to switch the up the guns and use that armor-piercing rounds!"
"Fucking finally! We're on it sir, thank you very much!"
"The shield heroes are ready for your commands, sir!"
"The Dolphin is ready for takeoff, sir!"
"Great, send the bastard down and for my dear infantries who worked so hard, I need you now to wake Mary up and be the fucking audience!" Jeremy shouted as though he was celebrating.
"You… you destroyed the shit ton of establishments!" MC shouted, looking at the live feed as her lips trembled.
"Relax, it's a small price to pay for victory," Jeremy chuckled. "And it's not like the people living on those would get affected anyway, the worst thing they would feel is a little chill…"
"I'm talking about the collateral damage you idiot!" MC protested. "Oh god… Death is gonna chew me on this!"
"Hey, it's not like I wanted this to happen…" He whispered.
"Your smile is telling me otherwise," MC said with her lips breaking into a disappointed grin. Then, she crossed her arms and once again turned to the screen.
The monster stood unmoved after that explosion but even before it could take another step, it stopped on its tracks and looked into the empty starless sky. Appearing as though it held its breath, the monster took its stance at the moment it saw a black figure coming towards it like a cannonball. It whipped its right arm into the air a second later, making the air scream as if the space in front of it was ripped apart and there came a torrent of blood, which the Muse, even along with the audience, did not know where or how it came about. All of them soon heard the ground breaking along with the sound of a huge slab of flesh moving and after a second, the Muse, who remained unfazed but entranced in wonder, felt a fist crashing into its face that turned its world upside down.
"Well, to be fair, dragging that bitch down to point C or point D would achieve the same result but… then again… I expected myself to fail this early and rigged the establishments outside the intersection with explosives." Jeremy stole a glance at the screen and looked back at her with a playful and twisted smile. "Being stuck in the middle of an intersection with little to no cover from sniper fire along with a strong-ass dolphin-man that we just made unkillable with all that space with over two minutes left before the help arrives… Sure, I blew up the houses, Mary almost got herself compromised and a lot of me died but now that's everything is done, sit down and let's watch our risk-free monster slugfest of a lifetime!"
The demon rolled through the broken concrete ground, still wondering about what happened but even though before it could get on its knees, it sensed something flying towards it. Behaving as if it didn't have enough time to dodge while believing as if that projectile was going to hit its body, it just stood there, staring at the monstrosity in front of it as it felt that its last veil was severed by the fire ax that it threw. Then, as though without the slightest care about its surroundings and with its eyes looking sharp as if it shone its dominating deep blue luster under the guise of the moonlight, its enemy stepped forward. It revealed its huge muscled body as if it was chiseled by the gods themselves that had a long red gash on its torso that appeared to be slowly disappearing. It cracked its knuckles and after nodding its head that shared the same look of a dolphin's, with a voice that sounded high-pitched and ominous, it said,
"Eih-eee-eee-eee-ehhhk!"
