Chapter 39 - 39. Truths told

In the morning I woke in Zelds arms the mark on my neck still fresh but the pain was a reminder of what we shared last night. Zeld caressed my face my eyes turned to met his.

"How long have you been watching me sleep?"

He chuckled kissing my forehead.

"Awhile you just looked so beautiful I didn't want to disturb you."

I smiled as I started to get up but Zeld held me down.

"What's the rush? We still have time before we have to leave."

I smiled at him as I climbed on top my legs straddling him my core already wet and waiting.

"Yes but judging by last night we will never be able to stop."

He chuckled sitting he grabbing my arse as he did.

"Can you blame me for never wanting to leave your body?"

I laughed. in one movement he rolled us over plunging himself inside me once again as his length took my breath away.

"For not being able to get enough of the one and only thing I wanted all these years."

He pulled out turning me over he plunged into me from behind as his hands pulled me up til my back was against his chest. once again his canines sank into my neck the pain as exciting as last nights. Grabbing my hair he turned my head as his lips pressed against mine.

His thrusting slow at first til then started to speed up as I fell forward with the force of them. Deeper and faster he went till once again we entered that abyss together. His life force exploding inside me as we both fell forward panting with our efforts.

"If you keep going at this pace ill never make it to upernavik."

Zeld laughed breathlessly.

"Part of me likes the idea of staying here..."

He sighed.

"But if we are to stop the goddess from taking our wolves we have to go."

I nodded suddenly solemn.

"Do you think we can do it?"

He looked sideways at me.

"Stop the corruption?"

He frowned.

"Honestly I don't know but at least we will be able to say that we did all that we could."

"I know your right it's just I can't help but think...."

I let my voice trail off trying to find the right words but they just never came. Zeld lifted my chin up to look at him.

"Have faith in your powers Rav and in your pack every one of them would do anything for you."

I shook my head.

"No they would do anything for you, I lied to them they have no reason to trust me."

He gently kissed my lips.

"Then give them a reason show them that you'll do everything you can to save our wolves."

'He is very good with words our mate if anyone can turn the packs back to the wild he can.'

I smiled.

"What did she say?"

"That you could charm even the most reluctant of wolves."

He laughed.

"I highly doubt that."

I turned serious as I gazed into his eyes.

"It's true Zeld you have a way of showing what's truly important in life. If it weren't for you we would still be merely waiting for an attack that would lead to our wolves being taken."

Zeld kissed my cheek.

"I think you give me too much credit, nothing I say isn't true. The moon goddess had one thing right you will be the greatest alpha there ever was and it won't be because of me."

I poked him in the chest.

"I do believe she said we will both be the greatest alphas."

"Rav even if I wanted the job there can be only one I'm fine with being your beta. I take my job of keeping you safe very seriously."

His eyes misted at his own words.

"What's wrong?"

He stared into my eyes tucking my hair behind my ears.

"I don't know what I would have done if you had died yesterday."

I wrapped my arms around him.

"It was a close one that's for sure. How did he even get past the sentries?"

"Apparently he was already inside their range. He had been here since before the sentries were put in place, waiting for the perfect moment to get you alone."

"How do you know?"

"He spilled his guts before I tore them out quite proud that he had taken you down. He knew it was a suicide mission that he thought he had succeeded in."

"Once again thanks to you."

He chuckled at my words about to answer when Talieus came rushing into the den.

"Zeld! Ravens gon-"

He stopped mid sentence as he stared down at us. Both Zeld and I laughed at the look on his face when he realised he was still staring. Covering his eyes he cleared his throat.

"Umm well I guess that solves that I'll umm leave you to it."

He left as our laughter followed him out the door.

"That was priceless."

Zeld hugged me tight before standing up.

"Guess we better get going before anyone else comes barging in here."

I chuckled both of us getting dressed. As I was about to leave Zeld pulled me back kissing me gently then leaning in to kiss my new mark.

"Just in case this is the last chance we get I need you to know last night was the happiest night of my life."

Getting on my tippy toes I kissed him deeper.

"I feel the same way Zeld no matter what happens I'm the happiest I've ever been and if we die in this I'll die knowing I had no regrets."

Going out side the pack had already started to assemble near the main pavilion. We had decided last night that we would all go since if we failed there would be no more reason to fight. If we failed this then all would be lost.

When Zeld and I had first come here it had taken us seven days to get here however we didn't know where we were going nor did we travel consistently. To stop this war we needed as much time as possible which meant that we would have to travel with little to no sleep. Normal wolves could travel long distances at a consistent speed all day, being werewolves we could travel three days without stopping. I calculated that travelling like this we would reach upernavik in those three days.

I informed the pack of this and added.

"When we get to upernavik we will met up with Keyon and the others. Hopefully they have gathered enough intel so that we can plan our next move."

"What is the plan?"

I knew this question would come up and I had been thinking a lot about how I would convince the other pack to abandon their lives in the human world.

"As the packs fly in I plan on meeting with the alphas one by one and I will show them what the moon goddess showed me of the future."

Another pack member raised his eyebrows at me.

"That's it? How do we even know they will believe you? Not to mention getting close enough to show them before they kill you."

I sighed.

"You are right there is every chance that they won't believe me, but I have hope that we can at least convince some. This will at least even the odds if this war does go forward."

I smiled.

"as for getting close for that we will need Loki. As a bounty hunter he will be able to arrange a meeting with the pack alphas. So when we get to upernavik the first thing we do is free Loki."

Even though Loki had abandoned them some of them they still remembered him as beta and still respected him as a result. I had thought about it long and hard. Loki was an expert at stealth and infiltration if anyone could get me in contact with the aphas without Shiya knowing it was him.

Zeld asked the next most important question.

"What about your sister? No matter what you show her she won't stop coming after you."

I frowned this was something that had been on my mind as well. There was only one thing that could stop her as much as she was my sister there was no easy way around it.

"We kill her."

Zeld's eyes showed concern but he remained silent as he inclined his head acknowledging that it was a hard decision but the only choice we had.

Once everyone had discussed the plan we shifted putting our clothes in bags on our backs. The straps were made from elastic so that they stretched when we shifted. Convenient since we didn't want to have to be naked around a human town drawing more attention to us.

As we set out we ran through the caves Talieus taking the lead since he knew the caves in and out and I was still learning my way through them.

Once out of the caves we set out across the terrain the snow cooling us down while we ran.

I knew it was a risk to travel non stop since once we arrived we would be tired but time was of the essence. If we did not stop this war before it began the consequences would be far to great.

'Your plan is good Raven, if we can get enough of the packs to change their way of thinking hopefully it will be enough to change the ones that are left.'

I sighed.

'I just hope we're not too late.'

'Believe in your pack believe in your mate. If anyone can help to convince them it's Zeld. He changed Keyon's mind easily enough.'

'That's true but Keyon was not an alpha from New York. They are stubborn.'

She laughed.

'We are more stubborn.'

I laughed with her.

'I don't know what I'd do without you Caryi if this fails..'

I let my voice trail off not being able to put my pain into words.

'If this fails and I am returned to the earth I want you to promise me you will move on.'

'What?'

I asked in a panic just thinking about it.

'I'm serious Raven if I am taken away from you I want to know that you continued to live your life despite my absence. I couldn't stand it if you broke down, you deserve to be happy Raven. You need to be strong for the others. They will not know how to live as humans you must remain strong for them.'

As much as I hated thinking about this she was right even without our wolves we were still a pack and as alpha I would always be there for them.

'I promise Caryi but it won't happen we will stop it no matter what, I will not let Luna take you away from me. I was stupid to blindly accept her task without argument. I want you to promise me something.'

'Anything.'

'If we do fail and the moon goddess tries to take you away we will fight. We will fight Luna even if we fail at least we tried everything we could.'

After a small silence she finally answered.

'I promise.'

I let out a breath as we continued on our way the sound of the snow breaking the silence of our promises made. We can not fail no matter what we must do all that we could.
