A round ball.
Libitina: …
'Why is there a round ball in front of me?'
The round ball had two blue globes for eyes and was staring at her. A ton of feathers framed its face, like a mini-lion, and its pupils enlarged and retracted as it focused on her. Libitina did not feel afraid, but instead felt that it was very cute.
"Chirp chirp."
The brown saw whet owl was so small that Libitina felt she could hold it in the palms of her hands.
'Hand…' Libitina tried to reach out to the little creature, but she found that she could not sense her hand. Not only that, she seemed to be in a state of immobility.
Slowly, she realised that she was on the floor of some forest. She could see the muddy forest floor, and the greenery behind the little owl.
Where was she? She remembered that their entourage was ambushed by some bandits on the way to Solomon City, and she had fled from Brian to lead the bandits away. Then, she fell from a cliff.
Something else seemed to have happened in between, but Libitina could not grasp the abrupt and incoherent images she recalled. Perhaps, it was just a bad dream…?
"Chirp chirp."
The little owl cooed again and walked closer to her. Libitina sighed in her mind.
'I can't help you, little one.'
If she guessed correctly, she was probably in a very bad state. In fact, she could only see out of one eye now. The rest of her body was probably not much better. There was a thirst in her throat. Her body was burning up. And the smell of rust only proved that at least one part of her body was bleeding, or had bled.
Considering the strength of the smell, she would probably die soon.
'Then…what was the purpose of me transmigrating into this world? Isn't this too short-lived?'
'Am I…dying?'
When she first transmigrated, she had simply strived to survive. After all, no one would be calm after entering a whole new world. So, she had puffed out her chest, put up her guard and stuck a smile onto her face, because she knew she had to please those around her to survive.
She was happy to see her favourite main characters. But she always felt as if she was missing something. She did not even have an identity in this world. She was an intruder, but still, she had expected to get something out of this entire experience. What was the point of her existence, then?
'Who was I supposed to be?'
"Master!"
'Who was that?'
"Master has an identity."
The voice was childish, feminine, and had a bell-like texture.
"Master has…many identities."
'What…'
Libitina stared at the little owl in shock. The voice was coming from the baby owl in front of her. It may be an illusion, but she sensed that the owl was looking at her sorrowfully. It cooed again, blinking its eyes.
"Persephone."
'Persephone?'
Wasn't that the Demon Spirit, the main villain character in her otome game? Gosh, it felt like a lifetime ago since she discovered she had entered an otome game.
"Poor, poor, Persephone, poor, poor, Master."
The owl started to cry tragically as Libitina looked on helplessly. It did not respond even when Libitina asked more questions.
Perhaps, she might die of blood loss before the owl stopped its tantrum…
