"Master, Master, is Master upset with me?' The little owl hooted indignantly when it sensed Libitina's irritation. "Master's blood touched the bracelet, so I came out. I belong to Master. You can't chase me away."
Libitina sighed internally.
'Little bird, I can't even move now. You shouldn't cling to me, go find your true master, Marianne Blanche. I got the bracelet from her, you know. Shoo, shoo! You'll have a brighter future there.'
"Chirp, chirp…Does Master detest me?"
'No…but I can't do anything for you. Look at me with your two enlarged pupils.'
"…Master does not have to do anything for me! I am no ordinary bird! Master, I can give you something instead."
The saw whet owl flew a few times around Libitina's head and hooted. "I can give Master the power of the wind, so that you can see the flow of life in the air and form hurricanes and tornados and--!"
'Woah, please, I am not Persephone, I don't want to cause destruction."
"Master is Persephone, Master is Persephone," the owl repeated to remind her.
'Oh, yeah, sorry.'
"I can give Master the power to cause tornadoes and destruction, or just help you blow the dandelions~"
'I still can't accept the fact that I am Persephone…How can I have absolutely no recollection about anything?'
Libitina thought back to her original life on Earth. Normally, the characters in the stories would get flashbacks. But she arrived here with a blank script. Isn't this too unfair…
"Master, maybe…we can go find the others too!"
'The others?'
"Yes. I just know that once upon a time, we all belonged to a single spiritual entity and we were forcibly split apart by a foreign force. Aside from Master and I, we still need to find three more. Once everyone is gathered, maybe you will get back everything you have forgotten!"
Libitina fell into deep thought.
She wondered if she was left clueless because the otome game writers did not see the need to describe the events that had happened to the villain. The villain's only role was causing destruction to create opportunities for love to blossom.
Perhaps, if she gathered all the 'others' like this little owl, she would also find out how she transmigrated? Also, if Persephone is the Master of spiritual entities like the little owl, were they once part of Persephone? This would explain why the owl reacted to her blood. Most importantly, why was Persephone torn into different parts in the first place?
The owl's words also allowed her to deduce some plotlines.
'Was the reason why Persephone had moved from location to location in the game due to her need to 'find the others', as what the owl said? But the reason why Marianne and her team had to travel around Morobeau was because Persephone was causing destruction everywhere. Then, does this mean that wherever I go, disaster will strike? Wouldn't it be safer if I don't move at all, then?'
Everything was a mess.
"No, Master, the longer you stay in one place, or have emotional fluctuations, it is more likely for the energy you give off to accumulate in that location and cause magical imbalances. The magical imbalances will trigger off unnatural events that can come off as natural disasters! So, Master should travel around instead, and never stay too long in one place."
'Oh…then…doesn't that mean Enzak is fried?' Libitina cried internally.
'But if I am Persephone, does that also mean that I can never meet Marianne, Yurian and the others again? They would probably try to kill me once they find out about my identity in this world, right?'
"Master is right. But if Master wants to meet them, Master just needs to control your emotions and your energy output. Then Master can pass off as an ordinary human being for a short period of time."
'I see.'
"Master, please don't be too worried. I will be here for you!"
'Hah, but considering that I am Persephone, this is really pathetic.'
The evillest character in the game was actually reduced to meat paste at the bottom of the cliff, and for trying to save someone else too. Was there an even more pathetic end?
"Oh, Master won't die. Master is Persephone, and has strong vitality."
'Wait…so you mean I'll have to wait as I slowly die away? I can't even die a quick death?'
"Yup, but Master won't die so rest assured, Master."
Libitina was so tired that she could not pull up the energy to be angry. Hunger, thirst, pneumonia, savages, infection, there were a million ways to die in the forest.
If this was the way it was going to be, then so be it.
"But if Master doesn't die, and no one finds Master, Master may be stuck here to grow moss, too."
"What!"
The shocking realisation that she cannot die and cannot move was deeply moving to Libitina, who wanted to cry to the heavens in frustration.
Why did you give other protagonists a golden finger but only tell me about my identity and powers after pushing me down a cliff? What is it to you!
'You, what's your name again?' Libitina finally calmed down.
"I don't have one. Master can name me."
'How about Oreo?' She missed the chocolate.
"No."
'Juice?' She was really thirsty, too.
"No."
'Ball.' It was round.
"No."
'…'
"Master, name me whatever you want."
'…'
"Master?"
Finally, after hours of bickering, they settled on a name: Tudor.
