Her uncle walked through the door with many bags of groceries in his hands.
He noticed that his niece was sitting at the dining table, talking to someone, so he put the bags in the kitchen and went over. He saw that she was FaceTiming Shen.
"Hey Shen, aren't you on a business trip? When are you coming back?" Tang Jin asked.
"I'm coming back on Friday. Wait, Uncle, do you see that spoon in Lin's hand?"
Tang Jin looked at the spoon and it looked like a bear bent it with its big hands.
"What are you doing with my spoons?! I personally bought that at the store! Do you know how expensive they are? With the little amount of money I get from your dad, spoons are very expensive for me! I saw that you barely had any spoons in the utensil drawer, so I bought some with my own money and you destroy them in return! How did you even bend it? Do you have the strength of a bear? Even I can't bend it!"
He took the spoon and tried to straighten it, but he was unable to.
Shen burst out laughing and said, "Were you that jealous? I'm kinda scared now, Lin. I might get beat up by you when I get back."
"Stop talking nonsense!"
"It's okay, darling, don't be jealous anymore. I have to go to a meeting right now. I'll call you tomorrow," Shen said.
She hung up and walked to the kitchen to put her bowl away. Her uncle walked to the kitchen to prepare food for himself, as she walked up the stairs and stayed in her room all day.
For the next two days, all Tang Lin did was eat and talk to Shen on the phone. Sometimes, she would go to the jewelry shop and check on it, but she would leave after ten minutes or so. She would see the advertisement of her shop playing in stores all around the mall.
On Friday, Tang Lin was getting ready to go pick up Shen late in the afternoon. She drove over, using Shen's car, to the airport and waited at the seating area where you would wait for people to exit the plane.
She was tired of sitting there for a long time, so she slowly started to doze off. When the announcement came on, she was startled and she woke up. The door that Shen was supposed to come through was now closed and she didn't see people around that area anymore.
"Where the heck did he go? Did he leave me?"
Suddenly, she felt arms wrap around her shoulders from behind her and Shen gave her a peck on the cheek.
"No, I would never leave you alone here. Did you miss me?"
"Why didn't you wake me up? How long was I sleeping for?"
"An hour after I came," Lu Shen replied calmly.
Tang Lin stood up and yelled, "An hour?! You should've woken me up!"
"I didn't want to disturb your peaceful sleep. Well, now that you're awake, let's go," Shen said as he pulled her hand towards the parking lot. They got in the car and went straight to Lin's house.
Tang Jin was keeping her father company while he worked.
Tang Wei asked his brother, "Has Lin been going out a lot recently?"
"A little bit. Why do you ask?" Tang Jin was afraid he might give the secret away.
"It's just that I heard people saying that she had a wealthy backup fiancée and she uses him to get back at women who offend her."
Tang Jin was thinking, 'What the heck Lin? How do you expect me to keep the secret when you go around in public, staking your claim on Shen?!'
"Brother, they're probably just baseless and false rumors! Lin wouldn't do things like that!" He began to tap his fingers nervously on the armrest of his chair.
"Jin! What are you not telling me?!" Tang Wei yelled. Was this rumor true?
"I'm sorry, you have to ask Lin," his brother said as he threw the questioning on Lin, so he wouldn't be involved... but it didn't work.
"Do you think Lin will actually tell me when I ask her?! She'll try to hide it from me. What is going on?! Tell me!"
Tang Jin thought, 'Sorry Lin. Your father gave me no choice.'
"Fine, I'll tell you. She has a boyfriend and it's someone you know. He just came back from a business trip," he spurted out.
"Who? Stop making me think and tell me already!!"
"I'm sorry, Wei, I can't tell you. You have to find out yourself. They personally asked me to keep this from you."
Tang Wei sighed and said, "Fine. I'll ask tomorrow, but least tell me if his initials are LS."
"How do you know that?"
His older brother took a tie out of his case and showed him the initials on the tie pin.
"I found this in Lin's room when you guys weren't home."
Lin's uncle thought, "Well, my dear niece, Lin, you're screwed.'
At Lin's mansion, Shen and Lin were sitting next to each other on the couch in the living room.
His arm was put behind her head as they put on a horror movie. Throughout the whole movie, Lin was holding onto Shen tightly. The two thing she hated the most were ghosts and bugs.
Tang Lin buried her head in her fiancée's chest and covered her face with a blanket at the scary parts.
When the creepy sounds were getting louder and louder, Shen shook her and scared her. She screamed very loud and let go off him. He started bursting into laughter. Lin started whining and tears were rolling down her cheeks.
"What the heck?!! Lu Shen, I'm not marrying you anymore!! I was about to accept your proposal tomorrow, but now I don't like you anymore!!" She sniffed and wipe her tears away.
He brought her head towards his chest again and patted her head softly.
"Aww, it's okay, darling, don't get scared! I'm here."
He started to hug her tight and cuddle with her for the rest of the movie. She was still mad at him for the scare, so he got even more closer to her to curry her favor.
After the movie ended, they went to the kitchen together and got snacks. Then, they sat back down on the couch and Lin had to feed Shen chips because he refused to let go of her.
What he didn't know was that his own fiancée had secretly grabbed a small container of chili peppers from the refrigerator and put it beside her on the couch. She put the chili under the flat chip as she fed him.
She knew that Shen couldn't handle spicy foods because he kept on avoiding them when they had dinner during their date.
Lin watched as he ate the chip and he made a weird face. Suddenly, he started fanning his tongue. She laughed because she had succeeded at her revenge.
"Water! Water!" He squeaked as he swiftly grabbed the water bottle on the table.
It took a few minutes for it to cool down. He glared at Lin and said, "How dare you? I thought you loved me!"
She laughed at what he said and said, "That's what I thought when you scared me, too! You deserved it. I know your weaknesses. Don't mess with me. Oh and by the way, darling, don't get mad, I'm here!"
She had repeated the words he said earlier when he scared her, but made a few adjustments to it. Then, Tang Lin hugged him and patted his head.
Shen now felt what she had felt earlier and now, they were even.
