They sat down besides a nearby lake near the restaurant and stared at the stars.
Tang Lin loved looking at her fiancée's face glowing under the moonlight.
"When are we telling our parents?" Lin asked as she leaned her head on his shoulder.
"We can go later. Let me just stay here alone with you for a while and then, we can go," he said as he ran his fingers through her hair.
Lin started taking selfies with him, so when it was time to reveal their relationship to the public, they would have pictures ready to post and show off.
When it got darker, they got up and drove over to the Tang Residence.
"Lin, what are you guys doing here late at night?" Zhang Yi came out of the house wearing a shawl and saw her daughter and Shen walking side by side.
"Sorry, Aunty, for coming so late. Me and Lin have something to tell the whole family. My parents are also coming soon."
"Okay. Well, come on in. I'll wake up your uncle." Zhang Yi led them into the house and went to go wake up her husband.
Shen had already called his parents to come over before they had even arrived at the house, so by the time Lin's parents came out of the room, Shen's parents had already arrived and they sat down in the living room with everyone else.
"What was the reason why you guys called everyone over at one o'clock AM?" The parents looked very tired and their eyelids were closing.
The couple looked at each other and Shen said, "Earlier, I proposed to Lin. I wanted to ask for Lin's hand in marriage from Uncle and Aunty."
Everyone in the room was in shock and they were now wide awake.
"Marriage? Propose?" Han Ming was in disbelief. She hoped that she wasn't dreaming because she had really wished that a well-mannered lady, like Lin, would become her daughter-in-law.
"How long did you guys date for? How come you guys never told us?" Lu Tian asked.
Lin looked at her future father-in-law and said, "We've only been dating for a week. However, we've known each other since young. It was just a matter of time, when it came to us getting married. We'd like to ask if you guys are okay with us getting married."
Han Ming looked so happy as she said, "Although you guys got engaged a little too fast, I'm more than okay to have you as my daughter-in-law! If Shen let a perfect woman like you slip away, I would wonder if he was in his right mind or not!"
Zhang Yi started to praise Shen, too. "Shen is such a successful businessman. I'm glad that my daughter has chosen a good man to spend the rest of her life with!"
Sitting at the corner of the couch, Tang Wei remembered that the business tie pin had the initials, LS. He realized that LS stood for Lu Shen!
At that moment, Tang Jin came out of the guest room and saw everyone in the living room. He thought, 'Why is my dream so realistic? I don't want to see these people in my dreams. They give me so much stress during the day. Must they be in my nightmares too?'
"Tang Jin! Come over!" Zhang Yi called her brother-in-law over.
After he sat down, they told him that they were engaged.
"Really? Lin, you actually agreed to marry him? The last time I saw you guys talking, I didn't think you would get engaged this soon!"
Tang Wei heard his brother's words and said, "You should have just told me the initials stood for Lu Shen! You had to make me think hard until now!"
He walked to his room to take the tie out of his case and he gave it back to Shen.
"You forgot this at Lin's house. If you guys want to keep a secret, then you have to cover up your tracks. You guys almost made me have a heart attack! I almost thought Lin was dating a man for influential backing," Tang Wei said.
"Lin would never do that! My niece is rich and powerful on her own. She has her own famous shop and she comes from our wealthy family. Why would she need influential backing?" Tang Jin didn't believe in that nonsense.
Shen said, "Although I would like to get married to Lin as soon as possible, I think that this marriage would affect her studies when she continues to study at the business school. We should hold the wedding when she is done with school. I wouldn't want to trouble her with these matters."
"Of course! We should do that. Lin, when will you finish, though?" Her mother asked.
"I will most likely finish in about a year or so. I'm not sure, yet."
Tang Lin was very intelligent and she excelled at every subject in school. She had skipped two grades because of how smart she was. Shen and Lin were both very smart, but Shen was a faster learner than her, so he had skipped three grades.
Lin's life dream was to grow up and take over her father's place in the Tang Corporation in the future. However, there was a person that she would have to compete with to get the position of CEO, her brother.
"Father, have you heard from Qingyu recently? He never responds to my messages anymore," Lin asked Tang Wei.
"Yeah. He changed his number a while back."
Her older brother, Tang Qingyu, went abroad for a year and he wasn't able to contact and keep in touch with Lin when he changed his phone number. It was only a month ago when he finally called his father to tell him how he was doing. Qingyu had built a successful company of his own, and he had more experience in business than his younger sister. But even though he was experienced, his father did not support him becoming CEO of the Tang Corporation because his son wanted to merge the two companies. Tang Wei did not agree to his wishes, so he had always supported his daughter, Lin, to take over his position and become CEO. On the other hand, Zhang Yi believed that a man should have a successful life in order to support their families, so she wanted her son to lead the company. In order for Tang Lin to acquire the company, she would need to learn a lot more about business than Tang Qingyu and she would need to get the shareholders on her side. Her father had told her that he would give up his position in a few years or more, so she could use this time to get more experience.
Despite fighting for the company, the two siblings were still on good terms. They just considered it as a fair fight and they would support whoever was able to get the company.
Tang Jin spoke up and said, "My nephew is coming back in a week. He said that he was going to move in with us for a while until he got a property in our neighborhood."
"With us? He didn't even ask me," Lin was mad that her brother didn't think to ask her if he could stay over.
"He said that his dear younger sister is so nice and generous that you would let him stay whenever," Tang Jin said. He clearly set a trap for her because if she told him that Qingyu couldn't stay, her in-laws would think of her differently.
So she said, "Okay. Well then, of course! He could stay." She really wanted to pull her brother all the way from abroad and give him a good smack on the head. He probably bribed his uncle to put her in this situation.
