Chapter 6 - Entering the Game

When he heard that his account was locked, Fatty did not get flustered.

He knew very well that the disc he had put in had a script program that was not destructive. It was just a small program for setting up the shortcut keys of his controller. Fatty had found this script program online. When it had loaded in the past, his account had also been locked but it had quickly been unlocked.

Although he didn't know much about programming, he used to read this script program for convenience and to prevent accidents. It was not complicated, so he just memorized its statement. Right now, Fatty used it again.

He was confident that this program could pass detection, so he patiently waited.

However, he didn't know that this little program made Bester Corporation's operating team scratch their heads in the background monitors.

This was mainly because there was a problem with the timing of the program. Theoretically, it should only appear after one year, but this game had just begun its open beta trial. Why had this program appeared? Did the game have any big loopholes? Had it not been found during the closed beta process?

Times progressed, and so did technology. However, no one dared to guarantee or say that their system was perfect. Thus, Fatty's script program was quickly reported to the development team for inspection.

Fatty didn't know that his small actions had led Bester Corporation to be cautious. As if facing an enemy, he kept sitting leisurely in front of the controller. He planned to adjust his character's appearance after his account was unlocked.

If a player used the electroencephalogram access device to enter the game, the created character would be similar to the player's own appearance and the player could shape the character through face adjustment. Fatty had not installed the scanner because he used a holographic projector. Therefore, the character he had built still looked like the character itself. Of course, it could still be adjusted, but it was difficult to adjust it to his looks.

In the end, after waiting for a long time, Fatty's account had yet to be unlocked, so he grew gradually impatient.

"What are they doing? How come they're taking so long?" Left without a choice, Fatty took two round coins out of his trouser pockets and put them on the knuckles of his left and right hands to start his regular finger training.

This was a very simple finger flexibility exercise. Apart from the thumb, there were three gaps between the index finger and the little finger. Fatty was using the coordinated movements of his four fingers to turn over the coins through the three gaps in the fingers from heads to tails and from tails to heads. He could not make use of any external forces so he could only rely on the movement of his four fingers to accomplish that.

This little game might seem simple, but one could not accomplish it without proper training, let alone by practicing with both hands at the same time. Fatty had practiced for a very long time and had made a small achievement.

He raised both hands flat with his palms down and the eight fingers of his hands moved regularly. The two coins constantly turned over along with the movement of his fingers. They jumped from one finger gap to the other and refracted metallic light from time to time, looking very pleasing.

Fatty knew several other kinds of finger flexibility exercises that were similar to this. In order to play well in the Chaotic Era, Fatty had invested a lot of money. In fact, just as Luo Moling had said, Fatty was really a little weird. If someone else wanted to play the Chaotic Era well, they could have just entered the game with the electroencephalogram access device, unlike Fatty, who had made a simple thing complicated. Just because he was afraid of pain, he had spent a few years training his finger speed and flexibility, not to mention that he had chosen the holographic device…

Should Fatty be called weird or be praised for his perseverance?

Now that he had something to do, Fatty finally felt that it was not so painful to wait. Finally, at 11:50, Fatty's account was unlocked. It seemed that Bester Corporation had finally decided to approve the shortcut key installation script used by Fatty…

At noon, the Chaotic Era started its open beta trial on time and the servers opened so that players could enter.

Because he was over 120,000th in line, Fatty entered the game when it was 12:05. In the meantime, he'd finally adjusted his character's appearance and made the character slightly fatter. However, it didn't look obese. This was Fatty's ideal figure.

In fact, Fatty really wanted to lose weight, but he had always been unsuccessful. Hence, he could only satisfy his craving through the game character…

In his study, more than ten imaging devices of the holographic projectors produced countless illusory lights that were combined to form a perfect picture. In the empty study, the game scene was perfectly displayed for Fatty.

In fact, in terms of visual images, that day's holographic projector was actually the same as what one could see with electroencephalogram devices, which was also why Fatty had chosen this holographic projector. The only difference was that if the players used an electroencephalogram device, they would get a first-person perspective. With a holographic device, one got a third-person perspective.

There were advantages and disadvantages to the two kinds of visual images, so saying which one was better was out of the question. The first-person perspective could make the image more real. However, it couldn't observe anything within 180 degrees behind the character without turning around. Although the third-person perspective could strengthen the grasp of the overall situation, it was not immersive.

After entering the game, players would naturally appear in different places according to the different races of their characters.

Since Fatty had chosen the Apostle Race, he appeared in the Demon City Ruins, Isengard.

However, after his character appeared, Fatty had no time to observe the surrounding environment because he was not the only player. Players were all around him! A huge crowd of players! Under the circumstances, it was very hard to see the surrounding environment clearly.

After waiting for eight years, he finally waited until the open beta trial of the Chaotic Era, which showed what an unprecedented grand occasion this was. The instant that Fatty entered the game, he was nearly drowned by the turbulent clamor.

"Ha ha! This is really great! I didn't queue in vain!"

"Old Four! Damn, where is Old Three? What? He is over 800,000th in line? F*ck! He must have f*cking slept in again!"

"Members of the Vagrant Guild, gather here and sign in!"

"Casual players of the Death Knight Class looking for like-minded friends to form a fixed party, contact me to add me as a friend!"

"You in the front, step aside! Don't block the NPC, alright? I can't complete the quests!"

"Ah! Which bastard took advantage of me? Do you have a death wish?"

"…"

It was like a clamorous downtown, but even worse. Fatty had never expected that when he entered the game on time, he would face such a lively scene. Before going back in time, he'd only played this game after three months. At the time, there hadn't been many spawn points for novices…

Right now, Fatty finally understood what noise pollution was…

It was definitely beneficial to enter the game first, and all players understood this. Although they almost couldn't budge from the big number of people around them, the players still tried their best to make their first step in the game.

Upon seeing this, Fatty felt very glad about his wise choice. Oh my god! If he had used the electroencephalogram access device to enter the game, he would have had to experience this crowded feeling and might not even have protected his moral integrity… Now that he was using the holographic device, even though it was crowded, he couldn't feel it…

It took a lot of effort before Fatty finally figured out where he was. There was a huge square where the players of the Apostle Race had appeared. In the middle of the square, not far ahead, stood an NPC with an exclamation mark above the head, who was presumably there to issue novice quests.

This was the benefit of a third-person perspective. Fatty could adjust the angle of the screen to observe NPCs not far away. However, with a first-person perspective, one would most likely be blocked by other players' bodies.

Controlling his character, Chicken Sugar, he squeezed toward the middle of the square with difficulty… Well, one couldn't say that it was difficult. At least, Fatty didn't feel that way. On the contrary, the sturdy body of the character he had created caused huge trouble for many players, as they almost fell after being squeezed.

"F*ck! So what if you're a fatty?"

Many players screamed gloomily behind Fatty, but Fatty rejoiced in their misfortune and squeezed forward.

After finally arriving before the NPC, he discovered that it was a female Apostle NPC wearing golden mighty armor. Just like other female Apostle players, she also had a pair of purple-red eyes. Unlike male Apostles, she did not have a curved horn on her head, but a pair of tiny bat wings.

This was very similar to the Succubus of Western mythology, sexy and enchanting, and had its own unique style. Furthermore, it seemed that Bester Corporation kept up with trends by using this female Apostle as a novice receptor.

At the very least, Fatty was one of the victims. Like many other male players, when he saw this NPC's curves under the armor, he couldn't help but swallow. Only after a long time did he think of going to receive the quests.

When he chose to interact with the NPC, the Succubus-like NPC spoke in high spirits.

"Oh! Guess what I found? Another mature clansman!"

"Hey, listen to me, kid! The war between the Dark Council and Holy Order Assembly has been going on long enough. Now, even the damned Chaos Corps is involved. Both sides are fighting, so our losses are very heavy and we need to replenish a lot of fresh blood. You are a descendant of the great Demon God Radufes. You must have the consciousness of inheriting the glory of the Demon Clan. Now, go complete your coming-of-age process. The Dark Council does not want a minor!"

"Also, move your gaze away from my chest. I am not interested in little kids!"

System: "You received the quest: Coming of Age Ceremony! First, visit the blacksmith in the city. He will prepare weapons for you."

In front of the controller, Fatty was speechless. Who designed this dialogue? It was blatant flattery…

In the past, Fatty had been a Human Race Berserker playing in the Holy Order Assembly Camp. The NPCs in that camp all had a solemn, serious look, which was completely different from the Dark Council Camp.

However, Fatty still preferred the style of the Dark Council…

It seemed that this was the right choice! In a happy mood, Fatty squeezed out of the crowd again, leaving behind a series of exclamations as players were squeezed by him in the back…
