Paying 3 bronze coins to obtain the coordinates of an elite monster seemed foolish.
That player did tell Fatty the coordinates, but he also specified that they were in the same party. Where were his teammates now that only he had come here to sell the Skill Book? Lying in wait to farm Skill Books, of course! Therefore, he decided to tell Fatty, as the latter could not possibly fight with his teammates.
However, to Fatty, 3 bronze coins were sufficient to only buy two loaves of bad-quality Regeneration Bread. On the other hand, the information he obtained could help him reap gains worth 30 or even 300 bronze coins.
The reason was very simple: Fatty knew that there was most likely a Goblin boss monster near those coordinates.
The respawning of boss monsters in the Chaotic Era was not fixed to prevent people from hogging that place to farm the boss monster. After all, usually, the loot obtained from these monsters was bountiful. One could go from rags to riches quickly as a result, and some people might abuse this fact to reap wealth, which was something the gaming company of the Chaotic Era wanted to prevent.
Consequently, boss monsters did not have a fixed respawn time or place.
Before Fatty had traveled back in time, the players of the Chaotic Era had come to the above conclusion more than a month into the game. Now, most people were probably unaware of this fact.
Of course, Fatty was not 100% certain that he could find the boss monster near these coordinates. Nonetheless, he could make use of this location to reduce his search circumference.
Upon running to the granary, the first thing Fatty did was find the guard to hand in the Quest. The guard told him then that he needed to kill 20 Goblins.
Cone-shaped granaries occupied the whole land. Between these structures were a few parties hard at work, killing the green-skinned Goblins that looked like short old men.
Fatty headed to the coordinates that the player had told him about. It was indeed a relatively remote spot located at the intersection of three granaries. Only four players were there. When they saw Fatty, they glanced at him warily. Then, one of them said, "Friend, head somewhere else. Only one Goblin respawns here. None of us will get anything if you join us!"
These four players probably were the teammates of the Skill Book seller. Their plan was actually quite well thought-out. One person would sell the Skill Book and would come back with the money, some food, and medicine. This way, they could wait for the elite monster here.
Fatty did not engage in a conversation with them, choosing to turn and leave instead. In any case, he knew that they might not encounter the same monster at the same spot.
Goblins were considered one of the Races of the Aegean Continent and were found in both the Holy Order Assembly and the Dark Council. Fatty had killed many of these fellows before.
The most common Goblin was at Level 1 2-Star and was considered a Level 3 to 5. These Goblins wielded a sharp wooden spear. Due to their short stature, they attacked by jumping and slashing down. The Elites of the Goblin Race were short-axed Level 1 3-Star Goblins with higher attack power than the Common Goblin. However, a party at their full strength could kill one.
The Goblin boss monster was a Level 1 4-Star red-hat Goblin that wielded two machetes and wore a funny-looking red pointed hat. In combination with its green skin, the effect was certainly hilarious.
What about a Level 1 5-Star Goblin?
The truth was that, no matter what stage of the game one was at, one would either die or become a billionaire overnight if one encountered a 5-Star monster.
5-Star monsters were quite unique. According to the official backstory, these monsters had been created when they had succumbed to the disease brought about by the Chaos Corps and then mutated. They were almost as strong as boss monsters of the same Star Rank, and their Stats would exhibit some deviations based on the prefix of their names.
For example, if the prefix was "violent", this meant that the 5-Star monster possessed extremely high attack power but its Defense could be very weak. If the prefix was "cold", this meant that the 5-Star monster most likely would execute Quas magic attacks. There was a variety of such prefixes. One could reap great benefits if they attacked according to the special characteristics of these monsters. However, if one was helpless against these characteristics, then death would unfortunately await them…
The 5-Star monsters could be considered quite rare, so Fatty did not entertain the thought of encountering one. He only wanted to try searching for a 4-Star boss monster.
As he wandered around, he killed Common Goblins to complete the Quest. There were no players around when he reached the area behind the stretch of granaries.
Most players were probably congregated around the center of the area to kill the Goblins and hand in the Quest. After all, the respawning of the monsters was concentrated in that area, unlike the area where Fatty was.
Fatty decided to complete the Quest first since he had failed to encounter any 4-Star boss monsters. Then, he would wander around. With that thought in mind, he stayed in the same spot and focused on killing monsters.
Common Goblins possessed 100 % health. However, as they executed melee attacks and jumped to launch attacks, there was actually not much of a variation in their movements. Fatty, who relied on controlled movements, did not lose many health points while killing monsters. It was just that the process would take slightly longer.
The Quest requirement of killing 20 Goblins was very reasonable, for each Goblin would give 25 EXP. 500 EXP was required for one to level up from Level 3 to Level 4. After killing 20 Goblins, Fatty could level up to Level 4.
However, just as Fatty had killed the 20th Goblin and his body was clad in the golden light indicating his level-up, a different Goblin appeared.
This Goblin wielded two machetes. When it appeared, it started to hop left and right, dancing a senseless dance and hollering, "Ka-Li-Ma! Ka-Li-Ma!"
This voice sounded really odd and contained a tinge of anger. Fatty, who sat before the controller, fell off the chair the instant he spotted the hat this Goblin was wearing.
The hat was green…
Green skin and a green hat… The combination was a sign of a true cuckold! Had its Goblin wife run away with someone else?
Fatty hit the floor with his fists, clutching his stomach while hysterically laughing. When he climbed back up and sat on the chair once again, he realized in astonishment that this green-hat Goblin might look funny but was actually a 5-Star monster!
Fatty's heart started beating really hard. This was great luck! He'd only wanted to find the boss monster, but he had encountered a 5-Star monster instead!
Previously, he had played for four years and had only encountered a 5-Star monster once. In the end, two parties from the same guild had stolen it. He had gained nothing from that encounter.
Upon quickly scanning his surroundings, Fatty discovered that there was no player party around. Then, he gritted his teeth and decided to do it!
This was a rare encounter, and it would be a pity if he did not give it a try. Even if this meant that he could die, he should still try it.
Fatty checked his backpack, realizing that he only had the poor-quality bread and bag of murky spring water that the system had given him at the start of the game. It would be quite troublesome, as he only had this small amount of medicine. Fortunately, he had just leveled up so all his bars were full.
He now had 80 Mana, 90 Health, 6 Physical Armor points, and 9 Magic Armor points. There were two free stat points he could still use.
Upon looking at his Stats, Fatty did not feel confident. Attempting to kill a 5-Star monster with the Stats he had seemed like a suicide mission.
After thinking for a while, Fatty opened his talent skill window.
One talent skill point was given to players for every two levels, so Fatty had just obtained his. His original intention was to slowly use these points in the future, for he wanted to first analyze how to best utilize his talent tree. Now, however, he could only bank on his talent skills in order to kill this hard-to-encounter 5-Star monster.
After looking through carefully, he used the two talent points on the Dense Skill.
[Dense] A Passive Skill. Miasma Skill's damage increases by 50%. Duration increases by 1 second.
The health damage of Miasma becomes 2 health points/second, and its duration increases to 2 seconds as well.
Fatty experienced heart pain as he was adding the talent points to the Dense Skill. Talent points were very valuable and should not be wasted to strengthen primary skills. However, he had no choice in this matter. What else could he strengthen anyway?
Fatty was panting lightly after doing this. Then, he made his character lift the Staff in his hand.
"Alright. Come on! Hope you're worth the two talent points I lost…"
