"The others seem to have a plan on what part we are each going to work on. Fang will work on establishing a some mine and looking for other useful resources, Aero us going to start on a wood supply, and Blaze is going to plan the design of the town and what buildings get built first. They are there ones that were in my group. Smoke and Canyon will focus on getting farms started. Dart and Rage are going to be the heavy lifters and transport resources. The girls will be scouts for the area and hunt for meat. Well that's at least what they are saying for now until we see how things go. The first thing tho is to get a massive amount of wood for building and a forge started." I spoke with my eyes closed having a conversation with the wolves at the same time.
"Your group has a plan for anything don't you. How do you know all this already. I mean what they would do?"He stood up.
The wolves can all speak thru our minds and share thoughts or images. The women can't but as long as a wolf is with them he can relay messages. Time to get to it. The workers are getting more nervous and we have a lot to do." I lead the way out of the tent and without wasting any time Shane split the group up. When it came to the women, they insisted they only needed two or three to assist all of them since it would be skinning whatever animal they killed and tanning leather.
There were sent over and the one I guess to be the prisoner turned slave looked them over with cruel intent in his eyes. "It should be fun working with you ladies." Vixen grabbed him by the throat and squeezed dropping him to his knees.
"Know your place. We are the last women you want to cross." She said in a low threatening tone, finally letting go as his face turned purple. He fell to his hands gasping for breath but did not dare to say a word after that.
The next three months went by uneventfully as for farms were set up and fenced of near the center of the field and houses were erected along the east side up to the forest edge. The west was set up with large barns to store wood and stone plus any iron we came across. The mountains that sanded the south side was the first to be cleared if trees and three separate areas were designated for mining. The first on the left as you looked to the south was mined out as a twelve foot entrance that expanded inside large enough to fit a small village in then left for my people to use. Our home to distance ourselves from the workers.
The middle mine was a low point between two mountains that was made completely open and expanded back in for plans to build a keep that was protected on all sides by the mountains with only one point of entry. The third became a network of tunnels primarily for stone but also any other resources that could be found.
"It is going better than I had hoped. We are just missing the keep and more people." Shane looked over the scene as he approached. A lone trailer made its way down the faint trail to the center. As we approached a poorly kept man in tattered clothing jumped down and bowed his head.
"I was sent ahead with supplies. There's another coming with more people from the king. You and the group you were sent after are to return to the king. War is starting and he will have need of you." He handed Shane a rolled up note and continued on without another word.
"The other kings think he had something to do with the attacks since he has been left alone. We are to return and fight for him... well." He glanced over the letter and summarized. I spread the word to the others and in moments they were assembled and waiting.
"We shouldn't waste any time then." He went to the storage are and brought back a wagon pulled by two horses. "It will be uncomfortable but we will make it back quickly." He immediately set off once we all climbed on, pushing the team to near an all out run, only showing down the horses to let them recover but never stopping. We stopped once to make camp as it got late preparing a meal and picking spots to lay under the stars. The following morning it was right back to a fast pace to get to the king.
All of us riding in back looked to each other as the faint smell of blood and smoke started to travel thru the light breeze. Shane half looked back as we all moved to the front of the wagon, small grins on our faces, and the women's eyes going dark.
"What are you guys up..." His word were cut off as we reached the top of the hill and in the valley a siege was taking place. Buildings and farms were in fire burning so hot that very little smoke was spilling out above. Fireballs flew in random directions as people shot them from their hands. A back in the wall widened more as people flooded into the interior.
"They're already inside. We have to get down there now and protect the king." Shane yelled as he lashed the horse hard sending them forward.
