Chapter 41 - Busted!

"Heart problem? Are you feeling pain? Did you tell Doctor Lin?" Ginny quickly put down her fork and asked with concern.

"I can't tell him about it because he is the cause of my problem!" Lily wiped her hands and hugged the pillow between her thighs and body.

"Oh? Then that's interesting. What could he have done?" Ginny sounded more relieved. She knew Lily wasn't the type of girl who would go out with someone because of their appearances or career. She was someone who would treat someone wholeheartedly once she accepted them.

This phone call didn't surprise Ginny at all. She actually expected a call from Lily about this sooner or later. The only difference now was that the call came much earlier than she had estimated.

"He..He.. comforted me when I was sick and feeling bad. He lent me his shoulders when I cried a few times. He drove me to my grandma's grave and listened to my burden. He bought me snacks, drinks, lunch and tried to woo me with sweet words. He teases me, and it drives my heart nuts!" She buried her face into the pillow as her face burned from the earlier hallway incident.

"Lily, it sounds like you enjoy his company a lot." Ginny sipped the lemon tea from a crazy straw as she pointed out the obvious that her best friend had missed.

"I don't.." Her voice trailed off when she tried refuting that statement.

Hearing her undecisive voice, Ginny smiled, "Ah, I've known you for this long. I could tell he cares a whole bunch for you. If you ask me honestly, I think I saw him more than I saw Hawk for the past four years of your relationship. Plus, the last two years didn't even count because you guys didn't even go on one date."

She continued speaking as Lily remained quiet, "If you're confused because you think it is too quick to hit it off with another man, then tell him. In my opinion, he would understand if you are honest with him. I also think you've already let go of your previous relationship. I don't see why you may feel held back for."

"Of course, Hawk is one heck of an asshole, so I wouldn't blame you for being more conscious with dating another man in such short timing. I could see how great Doctor Lin treats you, but my perspective is useless because you are the one who makes the final decision. All I heard from you just now were things that he's done that moved your heart."

Lily rubbed her cheeks against the pillow, "You see, I've never felt this way before. Even with Hawk, my heart never squeezed the way it did, and I've never openly shared my feelings to Hawk either. I wouldn't know how I should act around Lin Que either."

"Just now, he asked me out and told me to consider his words. I could tell he was sincere about it. I barely know him, though. Isn't it too fast?" Lily muttered as her heart continued pounding nonstop.

While chewing on a piece of steak, Ginny listened to her words. Once she swallowed the steak, she spoke again. "Dear, why would you need to know what to react first or last when you are with him? Listen to your heart. When he asked you out, what did you feel? What did you think? Ignore everything and just focus on one question. Do you like him or not?"

Hearing silence coming from her side, Ginny said, "It seems like you already know the answer. You're just not used to being spoiled or doted on by someone since Hawk had never treated you this way before. It's always been you giving more than receiving. So, right now you're just not used to it. You can easily test those feelings out."

Lily mumbled, "How do I test it out?"

Ginny excused herself from the table and walked to the restroom area. She whispered, "Take initiative for once and get close to him. If you have feelings for him, then you should have some kind of reaction. Anyways~ You should let me know your good news!"

Before she could hang up the call, Lily stopped her and said, "Hah, thanks. I'm feeling a bit more relieved now."

"No problem! If there's anything else, then give me another call." Ginny said as she tried hanging up again.

"Wait! Ginny, I have one more question for you." Lily just remembered something very important.

"What is it?"

"You said you were out eating lunch with a friend, right?" Lily sounded very cheerful suddenly.

"Yep."

"Then here is what I don't understand. Somebody told me that she was not free to go with me to the graveyard because she had an interview that may last a whole day. But that someone is happily eating lunch with a friend at this hour?"

Bullseye!!! Ginny facepalmed herself when she realized she fell into the hole she dug!

"T..that... hahaha... Umm, I could explain."

"Uh huh...Were you bribed to ditch me?" Lily tapped her fingers against the soft, fluffy pillow.

"Kind.. Kind of.. Not really." Ginny gulped awkwardly.

"Oh? Really?"

Ginny gave up and said, "Alright! It's my idea. I just wanted to help you to grow out of grandma's unfortunate incident. Don't mistaken it. It's not Doctor Lin's idea. He didn't even know. Anyways, it's my fault for lying. You can do anything to me when I visit you."

"Hmm? I'll forgive you if you tell me who you're having lunch with." Lily smiled since she was quite curious about it. Her instincts told her that it was a male friend.

"Alan."

"Alan..who? Wait.. Lin Que's friend, Alan?! Damn! Lunch date already? Alright, then go, go. I don't want to make you guys quarrel over me on your first date. Shoo. Shoo. Bye bye." Lily hung up before Ginny could clarify their relationship.

When she got back to her seat, Alan asked, "Is everything alright?"

"Yep. Just a small girl's talk. Sorry for answering the call in the middle of our lunch." She picked up her knife and fork to start cutting her steak. Looking at her already cut up steak, she put down the knife and pointed to her plate.

"Did you cut this for me?"

"Mhmm. I figured you might be finishing up with your call soon, so I cut it up for you. Take your time and eat while the food is still hot." He smiled as he drank his mango juice.

"Ohh..Thank you." She said and focused her attention on the steak.
