Chapter 38 - Are you the Worm in My Stomach?

Since Lily's grandmother's tombstone was quite close to the resting zone, she decided to wash her face and use the toilet before heading back to the hospital. While she was gone, Lin Que walked back to her grandmother's tombstone and introduced himself, "It's our first-time meeting. Nice to meet you, Lily's grandmother. I'm going to pursue your granddaughter. Hopefully, I will come with a different status next time."

Standing up in front of the grave, he paid his respect and gave her a traditional bow. Lin Que had always respected his elders. To him, his family were the closest loved ones to him. Now that he had met Lily, he has made a decision. He smiled at her tombstone and whispered, "I will try my best to make her my family. I hope I'll receive your blessing."

Curving his lips to a charming smile, he turned around to leave. It was then, that a pair of birds chirped on her grandmother's tombstone. Turning back, his gaze followed the flying birds into the beautiful blue sky, where a rainbow could be seen.

A huge smile blossomed and chuckle left his mouth, "I'll take that as a yes. I'll work hard!" Walking back to the resting zone, he saw Lily walking out to look for him.

"Ah! I was looking for you." She tossed the paper towel into the trash bin.

"I forgot something earlier, so I went back. Are you ready to go?" Ever since she had cried in his embrace, she felt as if the distance between them had minimized a whole lot. He managed to get her to slip her tongue and express her emotions so many times that it amazed her.

'Why am I always a crybaby in front of him? Damn. The number of times I ever cried before I met him could be counted with two fingers. How did I cry more after meeting him?' She wondered silly thoughts as she followed him back to his car.

On their way back, they listened to romance themed songs and most of them were to her liking. She was surprised about the number of similarities they shared. In the middle of driving, he asked, "Do you drink Starbucks?"

"Sometimes. It's usually overpriced, so I don't really order from there." She shrugged as she spat out the truth.

Raising the corner of his lips, he said, "Good."

She thought to herself, 'Good? Good what? That I don't drink coffee??'

Suddenly, the direction of the car changed, and he made a right turn into a drive thru. Looking outside the window, she realized that he was stopping by Starbucks.

"I heard girls like sweets after crying. Since I dragged you here, what do you want? My treat."

"Anything is fine. You're the doctor and the one treating. Your call." Her lips twitched as she didn't know what he was thinking. She checked her cellphone and logged into her Starbucks app to find no special deals. 'So, he really did want to treat me?'

"Okay, then I will order two of the same drinks. This one is my favorite. Hopefully, you'll like fruit drinks. Sorry, but for a patient with a history of stomach problems, you're forbidden to drink coffee for a while."

"No worries. I only like to smell coffee sometimes, but never drink. I'll run straight to the bathroom if I do. Fruit drink is fine." She said with a small smile. Crossing her arms, she closed her eyes to listen to what drinks he would order. 'Heh, even if there are many coincidences between us, there's no way he would get the right drink.'

The line was not long, so it took less than ten minutes to get up to them in line. Lin Que rolled down the window and ordered, "Can I get two Venti sized dragon fruit tea with extra scoops of strawberries. No ice. Thank you." He handed his credit card over to the cashier, who then completed his purchase.

Her eyes widened in shock and lips parted as she stared at him from her seat. No matter which angle she looked at him, it didn't seem like he was her twin. She pinched herself and it hurt. 'Not a dream.'

Seeing her making funny expressions, he asked with concern, "Is it not to your liking?'

'Not to my liking?! It's exactly my liking!' She screamed inwardly as she maintained her composure in front of him.

Reaching her palms to his face, she blinked in amusement. Her eyes filled with curiosity; as if a wild cat had seen its own reflection in the mirror and was dancing to see what was imitating its poses. "Yes..? Is something wrong?" He asked as his body stiffened.

"Are you the worm in my stomach?" She asked.

"Why would you say that?" He questioned her motives in touching him out of nowhere. Her fingers were squishing his cheeks lightly as if she was making sure he was not a robot.

"You just ordered my favorite to go drink from Starbucks in the exact same way I always order it." She retracted her fingers and cupped her cheeks.

"...Seriously?" The staff had finished making the drink and handed it over to him. Carefully, he placed the drinks in the cup holders in his car and gave her the straw to her drink.

"Yep. Here, my order history from Starbucks. I'm not lying. You are the worm in my stomach." She said as she stabbed the straw into her drink and sipped it. His eyes sparked excitement as he read her previous receipts. Putting her phone face downwards, he watched the girl sip her drink happily.

Smiling once again, he said, "Rather than being the worm in your stomach, I think there is a better role for me."

"What role?" She looked up from her drink to realize she was super close to his face. Just a little bit more forward and their lips would definitely brush against each other. She could feel the air he was breathing. His eyes locked on hers as his lips curved.

"Your boyfriend." He whispered closely as her cheeks turned pink as a peach. She tried moving backwards, but he said, "Stop."

For some reason, she listened to him and actually stopped moving. His fingers held her chin lightly as his thumb rubbed her lips. Her heart almost burst from nervousness that she wanted to hide herself from him.

Bathump Bathump...

"Okay, the dragon fruit juice stain on the corner of your lips is gone." He wiped his finger using a napkin and fastened his seat belt before continuing the journey back to the hospital. On the way back, he stole glances at her while she was drowned deep in thought.

'He must be teasing me...' She thought to herself as her cheeks heated up every time she thought of how close their lips were and his sudden declaration of wanting to be her boyfriend.
