Chester wanted to be funny and say, no. We ordered a California king water bed, but he thought twice and felt like this would not be one those times to be sarcastic. The attendant looked uptight and serious.
"A head are two captain's seats," he said touching the back of the head rests.
Chester and Ino, both went to sit down and check out the seats. Chester was pivoting the chair side to side. The seats are positioned to have perfect view of the outside of the space shuttle.
"In between the captain's seats, we have a lovely rectangular, stainless steel, table. It has a refrigerator for drinks built into it. You can enjoy the complimentary drinks in there. To open it, push the button on top of the table. This unlocks the door to the refrigerator," he said, pushing the button to demonstrate. The attendant walked forward.
Ino went closer to look at the selection of beverages. There was some carbonated beverages, but mainly water available.
"This is my favorite part of the tour." The attendant squealed.
Chester and Ino were intrigued.
"Look to the front of the Captain's seats. It looks like an ordinary cabinet doesn't it?" He said enthusiasticly.
"Yes, it does." Ino replied
"That cabinet is not an ordinary cabinet. There is more to it than what meets the eyes. It can be used for a regular table or setting belongings on, but that's not the exciting part," the attendant clapped and enthusiastically claimed. He then punched in a code on his tablet. The cabinet automatically flipped on its side and slid down into the floor. This revealed the main controls for the pod.
"Oh wow! It's high tech in here! Do we also get to keep the tablet to access the controls?" Chester asked for future reference.
The attendant still had on a big smile. Showcasing the controls to the pod seemed to be the highlight of his job. He smirked and said, "No, you don't get to keep my tablet. This is mine."
Chester frowned and gave him a look of disappointment. The attendant recognized the look of disappointment and in return gave him the "I'm just doing my job," expression towards Chester.
"I simply ran a test to make sure it wasn't faulty. This simulated what would happen to your cabinet in the event of an emergency. Normally, for the controls to be revealed and to obtain the controls for the pod, the emergency button would have to be pressed and both your finger prints would have to be scanned." He explained.
"That means both of us have to be on board in order for the emergency function to activate. Correct?" Ino questioned.
The attendant winked. "Yes, it is mandatory for both to be on board and scan in. It is so no one gets left behind," he answered.
Ino wondered why they would design the pod this way.
He continued on, "The emergency button is located on the right side of the wall in the glass box. Only in the event of emergency and evacuation is a must, then you would use this feature to reveal the control panels by breaking the glass lock box, that is holding the emergency button mounted on the wall. Do you both understanding have any questions?" The attendant said, raising his eyebrows and paused.
Chester and Ino nodded in acknowledgement.
"The pod is not for joy riding. If the pod is activated, the pod will not return to the shuttle. It will go to the set destination. Unless for any reason, a passenger would need to be returned to Earth, the pod is automatically set for Zoltan. Under your captains chairs are emergency supplies that will last you 3 months. The supplies are not available for use unless the emergency button is activated. Do you both understand?" The attendant said with a serious tone and paused once more.
Chest and Ino, nodded again in acknowledgment.
"Lastly, as you can see. We have some more nice metal cabinets, a microwave, coffee and hot water dispenser, and sink. This will conclude your tour. Again for emphasis, the both of you would need to be in the room and scan your finger prints for the emergency function to activate. Everything else in the room is self explanatory. If you need me for any reason I will be at the entrance to the platform. Do you have any questions?" The attendant asked.
Ino nodded, No. She then turned towards Chester.
"No, questions on our end. Thank you for the tour. We will be sure to find you, if anything comes up." Chester responded for them both.
As the attendant started to make his leave, Chested called out to him, "Oh wait, we don't know your name or what do we call you."
The attendant looked back at the couple, "Bennett is my name and you can call me Bennett." He said continuing to withdraw.
"Chester! Isn't this spacious? I wonder how the other pods look?" Ino said with a large smile on her face.
Her smile quickly faded. Chester did not respond. Ino felt puzzled at the situation at hand. She did not know what she did wrong. She replayed everything that had happened. She did not feel like has wronged him. Why was he ignoring her? After a few seconds of pondering, she felt that this was amateurish of him. He was observing the view from the pod, staring out the glass window.
There was a stiffness in the air. He looked serious. This wasn't like him. He has not ever been unkind to her. She did not know how to proceed. She could hear her mom's voice, as she repeated the saying in her head, "You don't add fuel to the fire, if you want it to burn out quickly. You don't add extra fire wood, if your intentions are not to keep the fire going."
Ino decided that Chester might need some space and if her mom taught her anything, it was how to end a dispute quickly. Ino decided to shower, hoping the time that would elapse would give Chester enough breathing room. She was hoping he would be ready to talk to her afterward. Ino went to the distinct patterned, luggage to get her her hair brush, head towel, body towel, and clothes ready. She went into the bathroom.
The bathroom had an expensive tiled stand up shower. It had multiple shower heads from all directions. Ino noticed the shower had no extra amenities. She went back out to get her body wash, conditioner, razor, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste. She looked back at Chester. He was still standing in the same spot, gazing out at the window. She contemplated on attempting to talk to him again, but decided not to.
She turned and headed back to the bathroom. Ino undressed, open the shower door, and closed it behind her. Now, she had to figure out how to turn on and adjust the temperature of the water. She saw a panel that had three vertical gold, metallic, buttons. Next to the three buttons, had a switch that slid from left to right, similar to the switches to dim lights that went up and down, but these were side to side.
