She took the hair tie wrapped around her wrist and quickly tied it up into a knot. She inched bit by bit, trying to sniff the air near him. She started using her hands to fan the air that expelled from his lungs. She still could not detect anything. She continued to fan the air, but now in a circular motion towards her. She wondered, how close does she have to be, in order to smell and determine if someone has bad breath?
She was about an inch from his face, staring at the saliva dripping down his mouth. She thought she should wait for him to breath out. She then took a big whiff.
Abort! Abort! Abort mission! Ino wanted to cough. Ino tried to hold in her coughing in order to not disturb Chester, but she also wanted to disperse the rancid air she inhaled. She got off the bed and walked further away to try to muffle the coughing.
Once she started coughing it was uncontrollable! Her eyes started watering. The stench was unreal! Her poor sensitive nose. She wanted to throw up. How and why did she decide to do this. Ino would never do this again. She gagged at the though of smelling his breath a second time. Why did his breath smell so bad? What died and crawled in his mouth? His breath did not smell this bad earlier, when he kissed her Goodnight.
She wondered, how did this answer her original question? She doesn't know if he brushed his teeth before bed or not, but she hoped he did. Does a person only drool, if they don't brush their teeth. Should this be Chester and hers, morning topic? She laughed to herself at the thought of that conversation. She suddenly noticed, she did not hear him breathing. The snoring had stopped. Was he a wake?
"Chester?" Ino whispered hoping for a response. She waited several seconds, before trying again. "Chester, are you a wake? Say something."
Ino said louder.
She was starting to worry. Is he just in a really deep sleep and was not responding to her? Is he a wake with his eyes closed? She looked at his body and wasn't seeing his chest moving up and down, like it was earlier.
She ran to his side of the bed. She put her head on his chest. She could not feel him breathing. His mouth was shut now. She could still see the reminisce of drool trailing down his cheek. She put her hand under his nose, with her pointer finger gently resting on the top of it. She still could not feel any signs of him, inhaling and exhaling.
"Chester! Wake up!" Ino squealed loudly.
Chester then turned his head. Her fingers fell off the top of his nose and into his nostrils. She could feel moisture on the tips of her fingers. She gave out a silent scream. Chester's eye opened and he shoved her hands, removing her fingers from up his nose.
"Ino, what are you doing? Is this a weird quirk you have? You like to pick people's nose, while they are sleeping?" Chester asked dazed and confused. He looked at her weirdly and started smiling.
Ino was shocked at the accusation. Her eyes got bigger. She started laughing.
"No, why would I want to pick your nose, while your sleeping?" Ino exclaimed.
"Okay? Then why were your fingers up my nose? We're you digging for gold literally?" Chester chuckled.
"No! I was worried about you and I was trying to check to see if you were a live!" Ino said loudly.
"Ino, calm down. Next time just shake my shoulder or something. Shoving your fingers up my nose to see if I'm a live, is odd." Chester smirked.
Ino rolled her eyes, "Chester, I was not trying to shove my fingers up your nose. I was trying to feel you breathing, but then you moved and your nose swallowed my fingers." She explained.
Ino wanted to wash her hands. She walking towards the bathroom. Her cheeks were warm and red. She knew Chester was just teasing her, so there was no use in arguing. She looked grossed out and held both hands in front of her away from her body.
"I'm going to go wash my hands." Ino retorted.
"No, it's okay. Save it and treasure it forever, my little booger lover. I'm going to go back to sleep." Chester jeered.
"Yeah.. okay," Ino grinned and rolled her eyes.
Ino got to the bathroom. The automated faucet turned on for her without any dilemma. The water came shooting out full blast. She thought back to being on Earth and how the water pressure was never this high. The soap dispenser also functioned without error. The scent of pumpkin spice filled the air. She evoked a genuine smile. She was smiling about what she was being implicated of.
He's so ridiculous, his sense of humor was unmatched, which is one of the reasons why she married him. Other significant others would have left it a lone, after hearing she was just investigating to see if he was breathing. But no, Chester had to suggest that she was interested in digging in his nose for "gold". She stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her hair looked a little tangled. She picked up her brush and brushed her hair.
She continued to look in the mirror. Ino saw a few misplaced eyebrow hairs growing on her eyelid. The little hairs bothered her and she wanted to pluck them. She got her tweezers out and pull those hairs out, one by one. She then took her eyebrow razor and cleaned up any misplaced hairs in between her eyebrows and above her eyebrows. No unibrow for her, she thought. Ino finished grooming.
She then put both her eyebrow razor and tweezers back in her makeup bag. She then rubbed her eyebrows to smooth them out. Ino still wasn't tired. She considered, maybe doing some more self care. Which might contribute to helping her fall a sleep. She recapped on the events that happened earlier. She started cringing and shivered at the thought of Chester's stinky breath. Ino hoped her breath did not smell, that bad.
She decided to do a breath check. She put her right hand up to her mouth, with the bottom of the outer edge of her pinky, touching her chin. She left a gap near her nose and exhaled. It was not unpleasant, but it was not minty fresh either. She just brushed her teeth not too long ago, but brushing them again couldn't hurt. She thought her opinion might be bias. After all, it is her breath she's sniffing.
She felt like her sniffing her own breath resembled a homeowner coming home to their own house. If their house had a certain scent, they themselves did not realize it because they were use to it. Then if someone who normally didn't go to their house came over, they would notice the scent right away. Ino got out her toothpaste tablets and popped one in her mouth. She began biting them so they could foam up, for her to brush her teeth.
