Thunder roared throughout the night with lightning flashing in the back. As rain continued to fall and lightly flood the streets of New York, Qian Lan and Jiang laid unconscious inside the old small temple in front of Qian Lans home.
"THUD."
"Mother? What was that?"
Qian Lan's older sister Xia Lan walks to the family porch and see's the small temple get hit with a light beam. Something that looked out of their world.
"Mother! Come quick!"
Everyone quickly ran to the porch and stared at the temple. Rubbing all their eyes to make sure they weren't dreaming.
"Xia Lan, stay here."
Qian Lan's parent's each grabbed an umbrella. With their pajamas on and flip flops; they both slowly approached the small temple.
"Hello?"
Qian Lan's mother speaks out as they get closer. With no answer, Qian Lan's father takes out the key and unlocks the temple. To their surprise, there laid an unconscious Qian Lan and a mysterious beautiful man.
Qian Lan's mother cries out and dashes to grab hold of her daughter. With her arms wrapped around Qian Lan she continues to cry out.
"Qian Lan! My baby!"
Qian Lan awakes to the sounds of her mothers cries and quickly realizes they had arrived home to her time.
"Mom?"
"Qian Lan you foolish girl! Where have you been all this time?!"
Qian Lan slowly breaks from her mothers grips and nudges on the unconscious Jiang.
"Jiang, wake up!"
Jiang quickly sits up and stares blankly at Qian Lan and a middle age woman by her.
"Ah...hello."
Trying to hide his embarrassment, Jiang meekly bows and greets the strangers in front of him.
"Who is this man Qian Lan?!"
Qian Lans mother continues to question the man before her.
"I'll explain later mom, lets just get out of the temple first."
Qian Lan's father who had stood outside the temple door was lost for words. Instead of scolding Qian Lan like her mother, he stayed quiet and offered his umbrella to the man. Jiang takes the umbrella and pulls Qian Lan up to stand by his side as all four of them head back inside their home.
Once inside, Qian Lan spots her sister and Lei Yi. Xia Lan looks shocked and holds back tears as she runs to hug Qian Lan.
"Qian Lan?! Where have you been all this time?!"
"It's a long story big sis."
"Why are you dressed like this too? What's going on?"
"I can explain, but let us change into some new clothes first."
Qian Lan follows her sister into her old room as Jiang was instructed to leave with Lei Yi to go change. Once they reached Qian Lan's old room she realizes that everything has remained unchanged and untouched.
"Wow, this brings back memories. While we're here, I see that Lei Yi and you have gotten quite close for him to be here this late Xia Lan."
"Qian Lan.....I'm sorry, I know how you feel about Lei Yi but...he and I have been dating for three years now."
"I'm not bothered by it, at least not anymore. Time has continued to flow on, so I'm not going to hold onto the past emotions."
Qian Lan changes out of her hanfu and into her old sweats and T-shirts; slowly tying her hair up into a ponytail after it got messed up from the time transfer.
"Where have you been all these years Qian Lan?"
"Years? It's only been a few months. What are you talking about?"
"Qian Lan, it's been four years since you disappeared. Don't you remember?"
"Four years?! I've been gone four years? How is that possible?!"
Qian Lan storms out of her old bedroom with Xia Lan following behind her. Heading down the stairs she catches a glimpse of Jiang and everyone in the living room. Qian Lan walks and sits down by Jiang who was sipping on tea and enjoying his casual clothing that was most likely borrowed from Lei Yi. With everyone sitting down now, Qian Lan finally breaks the ice.
"Okay, I know this will be hard to digest but try to follow along."
"Who is this man Qian Lan?"
"Mom, I will get there. Just listen."
"Alright....Fine."
"First of all, I went back in time. Seeing as Xia Lan is healthy and walking around you can say it's due to me changing the past. Makes sense right?"
"I...I suppose. Xia Lan just magically told us one day that she was no longer in pain and we just assumed it was a miracle."
"Clearly not, I ended up staying with our ancestors during my time travel. I was thrust into taking their place hence why none of our ancestors died leaving a curse. You get the point mom. This man here, is from that time zone. He's actually what you call the water god."
Everyone froze and stared at Qian Lan like she was crazy.
"What nonsense is that Qian Lan? This is not the time to joke."
"If you don't believe me, I'll have him show you."
Qian Lan turns to Jiang and whispers in his ears.
"Are you sure Qian Lan?"
"I'm sure, my parents are the type of people that need to see it to believe it."
Jiang points for everyone to stare outside the big family living room window. With a snap of his finger Jiang shuts off the rain like it was running water. Again, he snaps his finger and turns back the rain again. Everyone was left shocked as they watch him turn the rain off and on.
"Believe me now mom?"
No one said a word other than Qian Lan. Seeing as everyone was still in shock, Qian Lan breaks the news to her family of her upcoming marriage.
"Also, I just want to let you know that this man will be my husband in a few days."
"What?!"
Qian Lan's mother snaps out of her daze and stares at her daughter like a mad woman.
"Are you sure that's what you want Qian Lan?"
"Yes, mother. I'm one-hundred percent sure he's just what I need. I also only have three days to spend with you guys too, so lets get along until then."
"Three days? You're not back for good?"
"I'm sorry mom, I can't stay here. I don't know if I'll ever come back for a visit either, so lets make the most of it while I'm here okay?"
Qian Lan watched as her mother slouched into the sofa and hold back her tears. With her father nodding his head, he continues to console his crying wife.
