AROUND 2000 YEARS LATER...
"What is this place?" Evelyn and Parker stepped over the 2000 year old glass. Evelyn's flashlight landed on what looked like remnants of a control room that overlooked an experimenting chamber.
"It's where they showcased experiments to customers interested in buying them." Parker observed the controls and fiddled with the wires.
[Sounds fun!] Jada's bubbly voice came from their earpieces. [Did you find any creepy remnants of survivors?]
Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Jada, it's been around 2000 years since anyone set foot in this place."
[I know, but... you never know. Mwahahahahahaha.] Jada cackled as she made spooky sounds.
"Cut it out, Jada." Parker said, plugging in another cord. "Oh, I think I got the power on."
[Wait, seriously? I thought it's been thousands of years since anyone turned it on.] Jada sropped cackling in a moment of awe.
"This place was built as one of the most technologically advanced buildings of its time." Parker plugged in the last cord. "The lights should be turning on now. I mean, if there aren't any other places with broken wires."
[But we still have our amazing tech expert Parker to thank. Right, Evelyn?] Evelyn sometimes wished she could duct tape Jada's mouth. Honestly, wasn't this being a little too obvious? But of course Parker, being the dense idiot he was, didn't even take notice of her comment.
Taking note of the awkward silence after her comment, Jada pretended it never happened. [Yep. The lights are turning on for the bottom floors and the staircases too. It's pretty well maintained. Looks like you guys found the control room.]
"Um... Parker..." Evelyn, who was down at the experimenting chamber slowly backed up to where Parker was crouching.
"What?" Parker stood up and dusted off his pants.
"There's something alive in here." Evelyn's voice faintly trembled.
[What do you mean?] Jada's footsteps could be heard running down the hallway.
Evelyn gulped as she looked at the intact incubator filled with green liquid at the back of the room.
There was someone in there.
A he.
Breathing.
Heart beating.
Alive.
