[Sir, I know this is difficult to believe, but it's right in front of us!] Jada explained to the Captain.
"Ahem, it's a he." Evely pointed out.
"Um... yeah. A he." Jada quickly relayed the information.
[I believe you.] The answer caught the three off guard. [After all, this was one of the things we were looking for. Though, we didn't quite anticipate that it would be alive. HQ assumed it would be dead.]
"What? This was on our mission file?" Jada exclaimed, flipping through the list.
[No, it's on the priority list.] The Captain spoke as he began to walk towards Squad 6's location.
"Priority list? Where? What is it?" Jada opened up the list on her wristwatch and looked through it. There were barely any pictures of the items on there.
[Subject K4, last seem 2000 years ago in Lab 5 on Old Earth. It's a very valuable subject in terms of research.]
"K- K4!?" Jada let out a shout. "Isn't that..."
[Yep. The first subject to develop abilities and. assimilate genetic energy(GE). Governments and scientists studied the subject extensively. In the end, they were able to replicate some of the power in other people. But not all of it. In fact, most of that research went missing. Only the results are available now.] The Captain let out a sigh. [I'm gonna need to report this to HQ. This is a huge find.]
"Eh? Then why do you sound so tired, Captain?" Jada innocently asked. "I mean, shouldn't you be a little more excited?"
[Jeez, you kids need to stop finding so much stuff. Think of your poor Captain and how much paperwork he has to do,] he grumbled. [I get nightmares just thinking about it.]
Jada laughed. "Don't worry, Captain. It'll be fine. I'll be sure to bring more glory to our unit."
It was the first time Evelyn felt a tinge of pity for their overworked Captain.
