"Din?" Long Dao's voice snapped me back to reality. I opened my eyes.
"Yes, Long Dao?" I replied to her. I then saw her face get a little red. Both of us still haven't gotten used to calling by name like this.
*Ehem* Long Dao became normal again. "Are we not going after him or just standing here?" she asked me.
"..." I thought. "Long Dao," I called.
"What?" her usual reply.
"Are you letting me take control of the situation right now?" I asked.
"Huh?" Long Dao reacted strongly. "..." she didn't answer me.
I thought for a bit, then smirked. "Long Dao, don't tell me you have no clue what we should do?"
With those words, she stopped walking. I turned to her and smiled inside. "First time getting her weak spot. Good Job to me!"
Long Dao didn't answer and stayed quiet. I thought that I could get a tsundere reaction from her like in animes but sadly that didn't happen. After waiting for her, I just moved on. "But you are right, we should continue to follow that man. He will most likely go back to that restaurant since his conversation with the owner still hasn't finished yet," I intentionally gave Long Dao some credit to cool her off.
"Uhm," she nodded, still keeping silent against me.
When we got back to the restaurant, I decided that instead of just standing outside and looking, I'll listen to their conversation to know what was going on even though it would be disrespectful to their privacy.
So we went inside and ordered some food. It was about lunchtime anyway. While that was happening, I used my skill, "Activate Wisdom of the Senses."
[Wisdom of the Senses activated. Cooldown starting] the game system notified me.
"Are you able to hear what they are saying?" I asked Long Dao.
"Of course," now she sounded normal. Seriously, a girl's mood is something I will never understand.
"How can she listen without using any skill?" I thought. It was Long Dao too that noticed the tavern owner talking with a girl last night. "How is your hearing so good?" I asked, trying to see if there is anything new I don't know.
"I was born with good ears," her answer disappointed me.
"And here I thought there are other ways to enhance your senses. *Sigh* Anyway, let's hear what they are talking about," I thought.
"How many times have I tried to convince you Kim Sat? Come work for me, and I will pay you twice than your current job?" the owner was also trying to recruit that man.
"Haha. I'm so sorry that I couldn't accept your offer. Even though my delivering job doesn't pay me much, it fits my priority right now," the man laughed like always.
"Oh? This could be the key to recruit him!" I got excited.
"So what is your priority? If I know about it then I can help you, but you always refused to let me know," the owner said.
"Haha. I'm sorry. It is just a personal thing of mine I have to take care of," the man brushed it off.
Finally, seeing that he had failed numerous times, the restaurant owner gave up. "Alright, I give up on you," he said with a bitter tone. "At least come inside for some tea. It is my treat since you have helped me so much."
"I won't refuse this!" the man smiled.
"Huh! You bastard," the owner smiled too. "If you are hungry, then get some food too," he said and walked back to the restaurant.
"Thank you," the man said sincerely, and then walked inside and sat down at a table next to us.
"This is oddly convenient," I thought.
A waiter came out and took his order. After a cup of tea, the man stood up and went inside the restaurant. At first, I thought he was just going to the restroom, but after a long time waiting, he didn't come back.
"Long Dao, it is an oddly long time. Do you think something might happen to him?" I asked worriedly.
"He is even faster than me, if he gets in trouble, then even us can't help him," she answered calmly while still eating.
"EVEN FASTER than you? Do you think of yourself that highly," I thought? "Anyway, I'm going to go check," I stood up from my chair.
"Do you need my help?" she took another bite.
"Gladly!" I replied shamelessly.
And with that, Long Dao stood up as well and we both went to the back of the restaurant.
"What are these rooms for?" I asked because there were a lot of rooms on both sides of the hallway.
"They are for important guesses, high officials, or criminals to meet in secret," Long Dao explained.
*Crash* a sound of dishes crashing. Without exchanging words, Long Dao and I immediately rushed in the direction of the sound. Once we were there, we saw the young man from before holding a dude by the neck ready to punch. While on the ground, two other dudes were covering their heads.
